Chapter 273 153| Thoughts.
AXEL
Months passed, and Violet was still refusing to talk to me. It broke my heart to see her that way that night. To see how much she was hurting, to the extent of her almost rejecting me. Lila had to knock her unconscious to stop her from completing the statement. Though I would’ve never accepted the rejection, even if it tore me apart.
I knew how much her father’s death was going to hurt her, and I was ready to stand with her through it. But I couldn’t stop my father from finishing Silas off. It was something that had to be done. The fight that led to his death was mutually agreed upon between the two Alpha Kings.
Even if I had stopped him, it would’ve still happened some other time. It was either Silas died or my father did. And it was obvious who I wanted alive.
Anyway, I had been trying desperately to reach Violet and get her to talk to me, but she wasn’t giving me the audience. I sent her multiple text messages, telling her how sorry I was and how much I loved her. I even went as far as going to the south to see her in person, but she wouldn’t see me.
I missed her so much that I was losing my mind. I was so damn worried about her that I couldn’t even think of anything else. I wasn’t only worried because she wasn’t talking to me, I was also worried about our rare mate bond. The last time we were apart, she told me how sick she got. And I was scared that it was happening again since we had been apart for months.
I myself wasn’t feeling well. There was a constant ache in my chest, and I knew she was feeling worse. Getting her to forgive me and finally be with me again would be difficult, but I would do everything in my power to get her back. I would chase her until I took my last breath, because I couldn’t even imagine life without her.
A knock sounded on the door, interrupting my thoughts.
“Who is there?” I asked.
“Your favorite cousin,” Daisy said as she pushed the door open and walked in.
She was wearing a pink ball gown. She had her hair packed in a bun with a tiara sitting on it.
Today was her eighteenth birthday, and a party was thrown for her. She looked really pretty.
A frown captured her face when she took in my appearance. “You aren’t even dressed. Do you plan on leaving me alone in that ballroom? You are supposed to be my date.”
I glanced at the navy blue tuxedo lying on the bed. That was what I had prepared to wear for the party. But the thought of Violet had consumed me so much that I forgot to get ready.
“Thinking again?” She sighed as she came to sit beside me and placed a hand on my shoulder. “It’s going to be okay, Axel. It might take a long time, but I’m sure she’ll eventually come around. She’ll forgive you.”
I shook my head, pain searing in my chest. “I don’t think so.”
“Trust me. She will,” she said and nodded.
“It’s been five months, Daisy.”
“She will,” she assured again.
I sighed and swallowed. “And you have refused to teleport me to her.”
“That’ll be us invading her privacy. She would hate us more if we did that. We have to respect her decision. She’s also avoiding me, but I know in my heart that she will come around someday," she muttered.
I exhaled sharply, then reached for the gift box on the bed and handed it to her. “Happy birthday, Daisy. I love you.”
“I love you too.” A wide smile spread across her lips as she took it and hastily unwrapped it. The smile on her lips grew even wider, her eyes lighting up when she saw the customized diamond necklace I had gotten for her. It had her name written on it.
“Thank you!” she squealed.
I managed a smile and nodded. “You are welcome.”
A knock sounded on the door, and before I could respond, Mason and Indie barged in.
“We heard you needed cheering up,” Indie muttered as she strolled in. She stopped in her tracks and folded her arms across her chest. “And it is indeed true that you haven’t gotten ready. Have you even showered?”
I snapped my gaze at Daisy. “Why did you tell them?”
“I am sorry, but someone had to cheer you up before you drowned in sorrow,” she said apologetically.
I shook my head and exhaled sharply. “I am fine. I’ll quickly get ready and meet up with you guys.”
Standing to my feet, my eyes darted between the three of them, “and you won’t want to watch a grown man getting dressed, would you?”
“Definitely not.” Indie shook her head. A smile curled on her lips. “But on second thought...”
“No second thoughts,” Mason groaned as he grabbed her hand and dragged her out.
“We’ll be waiting outside,” he called before disappearing through the door with her.
“Mind following them?” I raised my brow at Daisy.
She leapt to her feet and suddenly wrapped her arms around me.
“Everything will be fine,” she said as she patted my back.
“Yeah,” I nodded. But deep down, I knew that nothing was ever going to be fine without Violet.
My phone started ringing, and I pulled away from the hug to receive the call. My eyes widened, heart beating fast against my chest when I saw who was calling.
Violet.
I accepted the call without hesitation and put the phone to my ear. “Violet...” I breathed.
“This is her mother.” Her mom’s voice sounded from the other end of the line.
My eyes narrowed.
“She will have my head for this, but I had to do it. Violet is seriously sick, and what she needs is you. But she is refusing to see you. It has gotten so bad that she is unconscious now. But, Axel... you need to come. I don’t want to lose my daughter.”
