Chapter 271 151| The Fight.
MAXIMUS
The funny-looking being burnt to ashes. Amelia rushed to her daughter and held her in her arms, her face twisted with worry.
“She’s alive,” she breathed.
A sigh of relief escaped me before returning my attention to the ashes of the Olga.
“What does that mean?” I asked Kieran. “Has it escaped?”
“No,” he shook his head, staring at the remains in awe. “Our ancestors. The most powerful witches. Had tried to destroy the Olga, but weren’t successful. And because of that, they resorted to trapping it for generations. I had always known that my granddaughter was special, but I never knew that she was this incredible. She is the definition of power. She is a force to reckon with. The most powerful witch. The first Hybrid.”
I snapped my gaze at Amelia. “Would she be fine?”
“I’ll take her inside now. She has used much more power than she had ever used in one breath. She’s just exhausted. She’ll wake up soon,” she told us.
“Go ahead and take her inside,” I nodded at her.
Then I flicked my gaze at Silas, who was already glaring at me. The war with Nina that had joined us together had ended, and we both knew what was next. The decades-long grudge never ended and would forever live within us. The urge to kill each other was evident in our eyes.
“Axel,” I mind-linked my son, “you might want to take your mate inside. She wouldn’t want to see this. Because today is the day that I kill Silas.”
From the side of my eyes, I could see him trying to urge her inside, but she resisted.
Silas began to take threatening steps towards me, and my soldiers gathered in front of me, ready to fight him off. His soldiers also followed behind him, ready to fight for him and with him.
He suddenly stopped in his tracks. “Let’s make this fight fair. Call off your soldiers and I’ll call off mine. Let this be a one-on-one fight.”
“Retreat!” I growled, and my soldiers obeyed.
“Retreat!” he also yelled, and his soldiers stepped away.
It was now just me and him, and I wasn’t going to spare him.
“Maximus…” Starlette’s voice poured through my mind. “Are you sure about this?”
“Put your mind at rest, my luna. If what you are worried about is losing me, then don’t. I am taking revenge for what he did to you years ago, what he did to my warriors that died as a result of the invisibles he sent.”
“You have to win. I cannot lose you,” she groaned.
“Of that, I promise you.” Without hesitation, I unsheathed my sword and pounced on Silas.
But he blocked the attack, our swords clanking against each other.
The battle was fierce and challenging as our swords kept clanking against each other with force. We kept dodging each other’s attacks. I must admit, he had gotten better than he was the last time we fought. But I wasn’t going to allow him to win.
I was going to murder him today, no matter what it took.
“I can see that you have honed your skills even more!” he groaned as he blocked the attack I had just launched at him.
He withdrew his sword and tried to slash through my abdomen, but I jumped backward, his sword just half an inch away from slicing through me. He lifted the sword and tried again to slash through me, but I blocked the attack with my sword, twisting it violently to disarm him. But his grip remained firm on the sword.
“I will say the same for you!” I growled in response, hatred bursting through me. “But it’s useless, because regardless, you are dying today.”
“You wish!” he growled as he jumped backward, shifting into his wolf in the process. And in a split second, he was already charging towards me, knocking me to the ground and slashing through my abdomen with his claws.
Gasps erupted through the crowd.
With all my strength, I pushed him off me and rolled to take the sword that had been knocked from my hand in the process of pushing me down. There was a sharp pain throbbing through the open wound, but I refused to allow it to hold me back.
Silas shifted back to his human form and growled. “Your throat is going to be next!”
Fury boiled through my veins as I took the fighting stance with my sword, determined not to allow him to get me this time around. A loud primal growl escaped me as I continued glaring at him.
“Let me out!” my wolf howled in my head.
“Not yet,” I told him.
I waited for Silas to come at me, and I blocked the attack, fighting him furiously despite the pain threatening to rip me apart. I was bleeding heavily, but I wasn’t going to stop until I had his fucking head.
“Are you saying your last prayer already?” he snarled as our swords met again, staring dangerously into each other’s eyes.
“You are the one who would need that.” I kicked my foot forward, hitting his hand to weaken his grip. And without wasting time, I twisted the sword so violently until he lost his grip.
“Now!” I yelled at my wolf.
He took control, shifting and jumping on Silas to knock him down. He bit off a huge chunk of Silas’s arm. In a swift second, I shifted back, reached for his own sword that was right next to him.
“Rot in hell!” I growled as I lifted the sword to slash him.
“Please, my daughter. Spare her. She’s innocent.” Fear radiated in his eyes.
I wasn’t a monster who punished children for their father’s sins.
The sword pierced his stomach, and I twisted it violently, shredding his organs with it.
