Chapter 17 Meet The Sister
Alyssa's POV
"Get your hands off my mate!” I said, causing the two of them to freeze before turning to face me.
I was mad as I stared at them, especially Zayne, who didn't look guilty, instead, an amusing smile played on his lips as he stared at me. The girl also wore a matching expression making me look like a fool.
“What are you waiting for?" My wolf growled, “let's tear her apart, how dare she touch him?”
But I just stood there, my heart breaking as I watched the two of them, nobody said anything. This was what betrayal felt like and I hated how I was letting it get to me. I knew this was going to happen, I just hated how it happened when I finally let my walls down.
“Introduce us," the girl said, her smile widening.
I looked at him, waiting for him to say something while trying to keep my wolf from scratching the eyes of the girl who looked like she just walked off a runway. Waiting for him to tell me that the past few weeks were all a lie.
“Red," he called softly, reaching out to hold me but I just moved away and his face fell. “Meet my sister, Aileen." He introduced me and my jaw dropped, joined with the embarrassment of misunderstanding him. My face turned a bright shade of red.
“His sister? I was going to go crazy on his sister!” My wolf retreated to the back of my mind. Traitor. She was partly the reason I was in my present situation.
I scratch my head awkwardly and that only made Zayne smile sheepishly. "Don't worry, Red,” he called. "I'm yours only, but I do like seeing you get jealous, it turns me on.” he finished, winking at me.
My cheeks only reddened but before I could come up with a reasonable excuse, Aileen my hand like we've been best friends for years. “It’s so nice to finally meet you, my brother won't stop talking about you.” She said.
"And if I were you, I'd have definitely ripped apart any girl who touches my mate.” She added. “I can't wait to tell you everything you need to know."
Zayne didn't look too pleased with that idea but he just collected the plate from me. And truthfully, I was surprised it didn't break from how tight I held it. “Why don't we let her eat before you cook up your stories." He said, but Aileen wasn't having it.
“Don't worry, I've got it covered." She replied, "we have a lot of catching up to do.”
“She's my mate, not yours." He reminded her but she just shrugged like she didn't care.
Zayne ignored her, taking my hand in his and leading me towards his office, while Aileen followed closely behind, talking about my hair, my eyes, how she couldn't wait to get me alone and my mate just rolled his eyes, his hand tightening around me.
“I asked the Omegas to bring your food, why are you carrying it?" Zayne asked, allowing me to sit on his leg while Aileen took the seat opposite us, not taking her eyes off us.
“I wanted to," I started, "you didn't tell me you have a sister.” I said, whispering.
He chuckled, "you know she can hear you right?” He asked and I fought back a groan. The theme today is definitely embarrassing myself.
"I wanted it to be a surprise, and from your reaction earlier, it's safe to assume it worked.” He replied, kissing my cheeks and my eyes widened.
"Your sister is here," I murmured shyly, my gaze meeting that of Aileen who was wearing the biggest smile. “Don't stop on my behalf."
“I can tell her to get the fuck out…I've missed you so much.” He murmured softly against my neck and I wouldn't deny that it does sound tempting…having him all to myself but the door swung open before I could respond, possibly saving me from the words that were about coming out of my mouth.
Xavier entered, followed by Tristan, whose smile disappeared once his gaze landed on Aileen. “I knew something smelled wrong, I should've known that was you." He said, and my brow furrowed in confusion.
Aileen gasped dramatically, pressing a hand to her chest. “Excuse me, you pig, that’s no way to greet a lady.”
Tristan chuckled dryly, “Lady? That’s debatable.”
Zayne groaned, dragging a hand down his face. “Please don’t start. It’s too early for this.”
Aileen ignored him completely, standing up to hug Xavier. “At least someone here is happy to see me.”
Xavier laughed, hugging her back. “You disappear for months and still expect a red carpet?”
“Obviously.” She flipped her hair over her shoulder, looking entirely unbothered. “It’s not my fault the world is so much duller without me in it.”
Tristan snorted. “Still full of yourself, huh?”
“Still obsessed with me, huh?” she shot back sweetly.
I bit back a laugh, watching the exchange like a tennis match. Zayne sighed beside me, clearly resigned to whatever chaos his sister brought with her. And I loved her. I could tell that we were going to have so much fun hanging out together.
“Don’t encourage her,” he muttered, resting his chin on my shoulder.
“I’m not saying anything,” I said quickly, even though I was definitely smiling.
I found out that for some weird reason, the two of them were always at each other’s throat, nothing too serious. And everyone had gotten used to it at this point.
Once I was done eating, Aileen suggested that we leave the boys to work and this time, I readily agreed. A quick kiss on Zayne's lips and I was ready to go. We went to the childcare and Aria didn't hide her surprise when she saw Aileen.
“I see you've met our Luna."
Aileen nodded, “my brother is so lucky to have someone like her."
I wanted to remind her that she barely knew me but I didn't. “I'm the lucky one." I told him and I wasn't even lying. He saved me, even without knowing it.
Aileen led us to her room where we spent the next few hours talking about everything and nothing in particular. She also brought a whole lot of things from the city where she was studying to become a doctor so she could work in the Pack hospital.
“I can't believe my brother kept you away from me." Aileen said after a while.
“It's not his fault, I wasn't sure I wanted to stay in the first place…but I'm glad I did.” I quickly added, and the both of them nodded.
"Enough about me,” I started again, "what's the deal between you and Tristan?” I asked, and she turned a bright shade of red.
Nothing, we hate each other, that's all.” She replied and Aria snorted loudly.
"It doesn't look like it from where I'm standing.”
Aria threw her hand excitedly, "thank you Luna, that's exactly what I've been telling her. I can practically feel the sexual tension between them from a mile away.” She said, "and I'm never wrong.”
"Not this time,”
