Chapter 18 Lingerie and Laughter
Alyssa's POV
I waited for her to continue but she didn't say anything. Instead, she looked like she was lost in thoughts for a few minutes before Aria snapped her fingers in front of her face.
“You were saying?" She teased.
“I'm saying that he's the most annoying person I've met and sometimes I wonder how my brother and Xavier survive staying around him for so long." She said.
My wolf snorted, “does she think anybody's buying that?" She asked, and I shrugged. As long as she believed whatever she was saying. Besides, they both haven't found their mates, so maybe not addressing it was for the best.
"Talking about sexual tension, you and my brother do have a lot of it.” Aileen said, and I swear, I choked on air. "Oh my god!” She exclaimed, "Don't tell me you haven't done it yet!”
If possible, I became ten times my normal colour as the two of them stared at me with wide eyes. "He's your brother, why are you interested in his sex life?”
My wolf rolled her eyes, "he doesn't have a sex life if no sex is happening.” She grumbled, and I blocked her. I wonder if her being so horny all the damn time was a unique behaviour of all wolves or if she was just special.
Aileen scoffed, “you're going to give me niece and nephew…a lot of them, how do you think that's going to happen?”
"I have the perfect way to spend the rest of the day." Aria said, and she didn't need to say what it was before Aileen got it leaving me in the dark.
“Shopping!" They chorused.
“We just got some clothes last week, I don't need more." I insisted and as if I just said the funniest joke, the two of them burst into laughter, laughing like their life depended on it.
Aria was the first person to stop laughing, “you're serious?"
“Ally," Aileen called, “we're going shopping, but it's definitely not clothes shopping but be assured that whatever it is, it'll make my brother lose his mind temporarily."
And for some weird reason, I liked the sound of that, so I didn't question it. Neither did I argue when they led me to Zayne's office for the third time that day. And on seeing me, he stopped what he was working on and motioned for me to come closer.
Ignoring the watchful eyes, I approached him and let him pull me to his leg and his face rested against my shoulder, breathing in my scent like he'd been starved of it and I did the same thing. And for a moment, I forgot we had an audience until Aileen spoke.
“Before you get lost in your world,” she began, and Zayne let out a soft groan. “We are here for a reason."
“Is that so?" Zayne asked, pulling away to look at me.
“We want to go shopping.”
"No.” He said firmly, catching me by surprise. It was a tone I haven't heard before. Then he sighed, “it's not s…” he took another deep breath. "Tristan would go with you.” He said finally.
Aileen groaned, "come on, anyone but him.”
But he was serious because not long after, we were standing beside a big black car and Tristan sat in the driver's seat, waiting for us to get in.
"Take care of her," Zayne said, looking at Tristan, who nodded.
“Yes, Alpha."
I hugged him one more time before entering the back seat with the girls as the car drove off. I didn't stop waving at my mate until he was completely out of sight.
“It's just shopping, stop making me feel so single!" Aileen said, her voice light.
“It's your horrible behaviour that's keeping your mate away from you." Tristan said, earning himself a glare.
“I can say the same thing about you, dumbass,” she fired back. "And while I can get anyone I want, I'm sure your mate is married with three children." She added, Tristan let out a growl, his hand on the wheels tightening.
"Should we step in?” I whispered to Aria.
"And miss this drama…no way. Besides, they know when to stop." And she was right because barely a minute later, Tristan was humming a song while Aileen just glared at him.
Apart from Tristan humming to annony Aileen, the ride to the mall was quiet. So I brought out my phone and sent a message to Zayne, asking him what he wanted me to bring back for him and his response was immediate.
“You."
I bit my lips softly, just as another text came in. “You're blushing right?"
“Maybe…"
“Fuck!" Even without seeing him, I knew he would be running a hand through his hair. “I should've come with you instead."
Feeling a little bold, I typed out a response. " You should've, I guess today's not your lucky day.”
"Red!” I let out a soft chuckle, wishing I could see his reaction.
I didn't realise how quiet everyone was, until I looked up and saw them looking at me. The girls wore a knowing smile. "It's not what you're thinking." I quickly defended myself.
“Well, I do hope it's exactly what I'm thinking," Aria said, “it'll make the sexy lingerie we're buying find use quickly."
Before I could respond, Tristan coughed loudly, "I really do not want to hear that.” He said.
Aileen rolled her eyes, "you really like listening to the sound of your voice, don't you?” She asked him, but he just shrugged. “Attractive people do…you can't relate though.” He replied, the same time the car came to a stop in front of the giant mall I can't believe belongs to my mate.
She lunged at him but Aria and I were quick to hold her back before any damage was done. We still needed someone to drive us back to the Pack.
“He just called me fucking ugly." She screamed.
“But you're pretty, and I'm sure he's just joking." I assured her, before shooting Tristan a glare but I doubt it did anything to him.
“You're right, I am pretty." She repeated, as if she wasn't aware before, only that a weird smile played on her lips and whatever was going through her head, I was certain I would enjoy every moment of it.
Together the three of us made our way into the mall while Tristan walked behind us, his eyes roaming around the mall in search of any type of danger but I doubt anyone was paying attention to us.
“Let’s start from here.” Aileen said, her excitement bubbling as she grabbed our hands and pulled us along. Tristan chose to stand a few feet away from the store.
The store was filled with people, both wolves and humans…they all had the same excitement Aileen and Aria had.
An attendant approached us once she noticed us, “welcome, how can we help you today?” She asked kindly. I could tell that she was human. Aileen showed her a black card and recognition flashed through her eyes.
“I'm so sorry I didn't recognise you, forgive me." And Aileen nodded.
"Now, let's get to it!"
