Chapter 163 The Wrong Woman
Chapter 163 The Wrong Woman
Alyssa's POV
The next time I opened my eyes, it probably was my imagination but I could swear I saw Nyra but by the time the effect of whatever drug they gave me wore off, I was alone in the room.
"Where the hell are we?” I groaned, holding my head.
"That aside, I can't believe they knocked you out that easily.” My wolf said, "I'm disappointed.” she added, and I rolled my eyes. Of course, that's what she's worried about.
“I’m sure we can discuss that later, can you tell me where the hell we are?” I asked, "I think I'm hungry again.”
She shook her head, "any normal person in your shoes would be scared about getting kidnapped but you're thinking about food?" She scoffed.
I placed my hand on my stomach, “you can't blame me, and I'm eating for three." I replied. “And it's safe to assume that I'm not normal.”
The door opened and a familiar scent filled my nostrils. “Seriously!" I exclaimed, “now I'm disappointed." I thought as Ryder finally entered the room wearing a smug look, one that I desperately wanted to wipe off his face.
"I'm sure you didn't expect our next meeting to be like this." He said, sitting down. “Neither did I, but here we are.”
I shook my head, taking in his appearance. I can't believe I was ever in love with someone like him. “I must've been blind." I thought.
“That's where you're wrong, Ryder." I started, not bothering to use his title. "I never imagined ever meeting you again, that was all you. But since we're already here, we can talk.”
He forced a smile, "Now baby, that's not how to talk to your mate."
I scoffed, “my mate? I would never, but let me know when you see him anywhere in this room.” I told him and watched as his smile disappeared. "So tell me Ryder, what the fuck do you want? I need to go back to my mate.”
I could already see Zayne's veins popping out while going crazy searching for me. And if it was before, I'd probably be scared but at the moment, I was thinking about the best way of doing this without being covered with blood. Washing it off would take too much time.
"I'm your fucking mate!” Ryder growled, "And you can forget about ever leaving here. I'm going to forgive you for leaving me and for that shit you pulled at the Alphas' meeting."
My brows arched, waiting for him to realise how crazy he sounded but when he didn't, I decided to help him. “Ryder, marking someone who wasn't your mate and throwing me in the dungeon made it obvious you didn't want me."
“I made a mistake." He said, “but I know better now and we're going to make the family you always wanted."
“I'm not sure you understand how rejection works–"
“Stop fucking saying that!” He growled, hitting the table with his hand. “I know how fucking rejection work and I'd know if I rejected my own fucking mate."
“He's right." My wolf said, “he never really said the words but your bond ended the moment he marked someone else.”
He stood up, walking towards me. "But what I can't forgive is the bastard you're carrying,” he said, grabbing my jaw. "You let another man touch you. Once I take care of it, we'll start afresh.”
"Take care of it?” I repeated.
A smirk played on his lips as he moved towards the table and picked up a syringe that contained a substance that would probably knock me out again. "I can't become a father to another man's child, so we're going to get rid of it.” He said it like he was discussing the weather or food choice.
"You're crazy.” I told him.
"For you, yes.”
I shook my head, "you're crazy if you think I'm going to give up on my perfect life because you realised we were good together."
He smiled, "funny you think I was giving you a choice.” He said, bringing the syringe out. “You're going to sleep and when you wake up, you'll feel lighter." He added, as if he wasn't casually talking about killing innocent children.
I closed my eyes, ready to create a shield but a knock on the door stopped me.
The door opened and a girl I could swear I'd seen before entered, followed by an older woman. “Are these your accomplices?" I asked.
The girl scoffed, “Accomplice?" She repeated, "I'm the one who's going to comfort your mate after he realises you're gone for good.”
I nodded, “now I remember who you are.” I said, realization dawning on me. "And you're still trying to steal my mate…Sabrina, isn't it?"
She rolled her eyes and turned to Ryder, “I wonder what you see in her.” She grumbled. "Why is she still awake? The doctor is here…which means I'm done with my part.”
"It wouldn't take long and I was getting to it before you interrupted.”
"Just do it already, if I hear her voice one more time, I'd be tempted to rip her voicebox."
Ryder glared at her but she just shrugged. I wondered how the two of them ended up working together. They equally like being in power, how did it work out? Regardless, I'm proud of them.
“How are you worried about the wrong thing?” My wolf asked, clearly frustrated. “Our mate would be freaking out and you're wondering how your crazy ex and an obsessed she wolf managed to work together.”
"I guess it's time to put an end to this nonsense.” I muttered and created the shield.
Ryder moved forward with the syringe but was stopped by the shield and I watched as his smile disappeared and was replaced by a confused look. "What the fuck?”
"Seriously Ryder, stop wasting time and inject her already!”
"What the fuck do you think I'm trying to do?”
She collected the syringe and tried to come closer but was also stopped. Then she looked at me, "what are you doing? How are you doing that?”
I crossed my arms in front of me, "I wonder what the deal is with everyone underestimating me." I said. “You guys need to learn a lesson."
At this point, I was certain my wolf was close to taking over and finishing things up herself…mainly bus biting their heads off, but there's no fun in that.
I took a step forward, “I do hope you kissed your beautiful Iris goodbye?” I asked, removing the shield.
Ryder frowned, still staring at where the shield had been. "What the hell was that?" He asked, ignoring my question.
I smiled. "You had a chance to ask anything and you chose that?” I asked, “how are you still an Alpha with this mind?"
His expression darkened."Enough of this!" He said, charging at me and throwing a punch straight at my face.
I tilted my head, letting his fist cut through the air.
He stumbled a step forward before turning back to me. "Stand still!" he growled, raising his fist again.
Sabrina, who was watching the exchange, saw the opportunity and rushed at me with the syringe.
"I've got her!" She announced and I sighed.
"You people really don't learn." I complained as Sabrina froze mid-step and before she could react, I slammed her against the wall without touching her, just as I did with Lisa.
A cry escaped her lips as the syringe fell from her hand, causing Ryder's eyes to widen. "What the–"
I turned my gaze to him.
"Your turn."
He barely had time to react before I threw him against the opposite wall. He hit it with a loud thud before collapsing to one knee, staring at me in disbelief.
"H-how are you doing this?" He asked, and I smiled.
"Now you're asking the right question.” I replied "but it's too late.” I added, slamming the door in the face of the woman, who was trying to escape without being seen.
"The fact that you knew exactly why you were coming here but you still came, makes you equally as bad as them.”
"Please, d-don't kill m-me.” She pleaded, falling to her knees.
"Considering how you were going to kill my children just a few minutes ago, I doubt letting you live is a good idea.”
"You must be having fun.” My wolf said.
I shrugged, "I'm just keeping myself occupied before Zayne arrives.” I replied, the same time I heard groaning outside. “Seems like we have to wrap this up."
The door came crashing down and Zayne entered, his eyes scanning the room and landing on the culprit before finally settling on me. "I should've known they'd be the ones that needed rescuing” He grinned.
"You're late, I was getting bored waiting for you.” I told him. "And did you by chance bring food? I'm hungry." I said, letting go of the three culprits and watched as Jace and Xavier caught them, turning deaf ears to their plea.
Zayne smiled instead, “let's go home."
