Chapter 148 Camden Treachery

Chapter 148 Camden Treachery
The plan had been carefully laid out, and everyone was already marching to the palace to destroy Wanda. Alderwood was eerily quiet, with no one outside. Even the shops were closed.

In the human world, they only knew it as a gang war. Yes, that was the rumor that had been spread. And the police could not do anything about it. They were only guarding the perimeter near the residential areas.

"What's going on, my king?" I asked as we passed the closed shops.

"I just want to end this war. And repay a debt to someone."

My eyebrows almost furrowed. "A debt?"

"Yes." Elijah nodded. "If it weren't for him, I might not be with you now."

Who was Elijah talking about?

One of the royal alphas approached Elijah, interrupting our conversation.

"At the last crossroads, we will all regroup and go to the palace together, my king," the Alpha said.

"We'll wait for the others if they haven't arrived yet, won't we?"

The Alpha nodded. "Yes, my king."

The troops were divided into several groups, each taking different routes.

Everyone had expected the rogue wolves to ambush them from different directions. And sure enough, as I walked with the group led by Elijah, the rogue wolves were already waiting in the middle of the road.

It was as if Wanda had deliberately sent her rogue wolves into the streets to keep the battle away from the palace.

I was sure that Wanda had already lost many soldiers and guards. The palace would be easy to take over later.

A battle with the rogue wolves was inevitable, and I was sure the other groups were also fighting their battles.

The rogue wolves were quickly defeated and didn't seem to have the will to fight. They were already afraid, and most of them fled.

"Let's march to the palace!" Elijah commanded.

Everyone was confident that we would win this war. And it was time to end it. I didn't want any more conflict or betrayal.

By the time we reached the last intersection, some other groups had already arrived. The rest followed soon after.

A shiver ran down my spine as hundreds of wolves marched toward the palace. What power did Camden and Wanda have left to stand against this alliance?

"This feels like a dream," Elijah said.

This was what Elijah had always imagined, bringing down the traitors, especially Camden. And now that dream was coming true.

"I can see the world's colors because of you, Delilah. And now I will avenge the deaths of the Lunas," he continued.

We looked into each other's eyes for a moment.

"My heart aches because Vincent is not here with us." Elijah took a deep breath, trying to control the emotions that were surging through him.

"But Vincent is always with you, my king. He lives in our souls and will never be forgotten."

Elijah gripped my hand tightly. Then he nodded.

"If I hadn't listened to Vincent back then, my life might have slowly crumbled. But Vincent insisted on saving you."

"My king... why do you keep dwelling on the past?"

"I don't know. It keeps flashing through my mind."

"We'll be fine, my king."

"As long as I'm with you, I'll always be fine."

We walked on towards the palace, my heart beating faster. The rogue wolves were already waiting at the palace gates—their numbers were still large. Even from a distance, I could smell their foul stench.

"Ugh, do Camden and Wanda wear masks every day? That foul smell," Michael coughed. "Disgusting."

"Be careful!" Jeremy warned.

We approached, but the rogue wolves did not attack. Instead, they opened the palace gates for us. We all exchanged glances.

Did this mean that Wanda and Camden were surrendering?

We all went in, with some troops staying at the entrance to keep watch.

The palace guards opened the main doors and gasped when they saw Elijah enter.

"My king," one of the guards said, his voice full of emotion.

"What is this? Camden and Wanda surrendering?"

The guard nodded. "It appears so, my king. They are waiting in the hall, along with Queen Catherine."

"Catherine is not a queen," Elijah corrected. Then he squeezed my hand. "My Luna Queen is Delilah."

We all walked into the great hall, where Wanda and Camden were already seated on their thrones. Catherine, Tracy, and Benson were also there.

They had been waiting for Elijah's arrival but never expected to see me at his side.

"That's not your throne! Get down from there!" Elijah yelled.

Wanda grinned. "It's not yours either... King... Elijah."

Camden cleared his throat, appearing calm—or maybe just pretending. If Camden had a hidden plan, I doubted it. Their position was already cornered.

"My king, we wish to propose an alliance. You see, Queen Wanda was once a ruler in her own territory. She has a huge army in Europe. The ones here are just a fraction of that," Camden explained.

"The army of the rogue wolves?" Elijah scoffed.

Wanda glared. "We're still wolves! What makes you think you're different?"

I could hear Michael whispering beside me, "Well, besides the fact that we bathe every day. Does civilization even exist over there?"

I almost burst out laughing.

Werewolves everywhere were the same—we were shifters, warm-blooded, and shared the same weaknesses. But what set us apart was whether we were ruled by primal instinct or reason.

"What kind of alliance?" Elijah asked.

"Make Queen Wanda your Luna, and this kingdom will remain yours. Even the rogue wolf pack will submit to your leadership, King Elijah."

Camden's words shocked everyone in the room. Catherine immediately stepped forward, her face filled with rage.

"Father! How could you?!" Catherine screamed. "I love Elijah! How could you do this to me?"

Wanda chuckled in amusement. Ugh, I hated that arrogant look on her face! And Tracy and Benson stood at her side. They deserved to die!

I turned my eyes to Camden, who was looking at his own daughter coldly.

"You are not a Luna, Catherine. You disappoint me! You may have love, but the moon goddess did not choose you to be the king's mate!" Camden declared.

"But, Father—"

"Queen Wanda is willing to give us the power we deserve, Catherine. And I will be loyal to whoever gives us a comfortable and prosperous life."

Unbelievable! Camden openly admitted his treason?
