Chapter Ninety-Six: Shot Me

The scene before us was silent, I thought I knew where this next part of my plan was heading but now Jared is being a little more than cagey, I hadn’t a clue where this was going.

As I stood with Max, the entire border of The Shadow Wolf Pack becomes filled with people, many fighters ready to not only fight for their lives, but the safety of their pack. But one person amongst that crowd I soon make eye contact with, the Alpha who I had spoken to that day saw me instantly, sending me a look of concern.

I knew he wouldn’t hesitate to send his fighters to not allow what happened that night to happen today, but I needed him to trust me to stay put. Even though I hadn’t a clue what was happening, I knew Jared had a plan and Julia’s was soon going to fail. So, keeping the eye contact, I send him a slight shake of my head telling him not to start fighting. This was a huge ask from me but with a smile, he watches Julia and Jared to see what was happening next.

“It’s time Jared! It’s time for those who took Remi away from you to pay the full price!” Julia shouts with such a happy expression on her face, to her, after this happens, her and Jared will live happily ever after just like she has always wanted.

Griffin turns to look at me with fear in his eyes, he was still very nervous that Julia would still be able to take control of his wolf and force him to attack this innocent pack once again. But with a smile of encouragement, I let him know that she no longer had any sort of power over him and to our advantage, she didn’t have any idea.

“I hereby bypass Griffin and bring his wolf to life. You are under my control and listen to every command which I have for you!” Julia recites the chant that had worked in the past looking over at Griffin with a smile, but once Griffin only stood there sending a smirk to his mother and not dropping into her control, Julia looked up more than shocked. “What the fuck?!” She shouts unaware of the one rule there was when controlling half-bloods, they have to trust you and due to her past, Griffin didn’t anymore.

“He no longer takes orders from you; I hereby bypass Griffin and bring his wolf to life. You are under my control and listen to every command which I have for you.” I say now reciting the chant myself, instantly, Griffin looks over at me with his eyes turning the deep shade of green before he rushes over to my side, knelling down at my feet.

“YOU BITCH!” Julia screams looking over at me with such hatred after realising she had lost all of her power, but I had gained it all. “YOU’VE TAKEN EVERYTHING FROM ME!” She shouts where I couldn’t help but laugh with a nod, this was very true, I had taken her title, her power over Griffin and the respect of her people.

Julia looks around frantically, hoping she was going to find a new way to get what she wanted somehow without using Griffin, for her, the plan she had been working on for so many years, was all falling apart right at her feet because of some little human. I break Griffin from his trance where he stood one side of me whilst Max stood the other, Julia soon looking in our direction.

“One thing you should never do Julia, underestimate a person like me. You killed not only so many innocent children, but many others who did not deserve it, my mother being on that list.” I say looking her right in the eyes as I spoke, where Griffin, who had no idea looks over in a shocked type of manner at me. “The power of karma is a powerful force Julia and it’s finally, caught up to you in the form of me.” I continue where once calm and collect Julia, soon began to panic looking up at her beloved Jared, who she had done all of this for.

“Jared, we need to do something! If not, everything we have worked so hard to build and those who took your mate away from you will not pay!” She pleaded rushing over to Jared begging him, whilst he takes a look down with a bored expression on his face.

“What Rose has said is true, karma has that way.” He tells her before turning to look at me, in his eyes I knew he had a plan before he closes them and takes a deep breath in turning to face Julia once again. “How could I have been so blind, why didn’t I see it before?” He asks, his entire attitude and demeanour changing in such a drastic way as he looks over at Julia, to me it sounded as though he was about to tell her he knew what she did, but he had something else to say.

“Why have I been chasing after a woman who has been dead for ten years when the perfect one was right in front of me?” He asks where I couldn’t help but get a little confused, he’s changed his tune since we spoke in the cabin not that long ago.

“Jared?” Julia asks getting even closer to him placing her hands on his chest, you could see she knew what he was getting at but wanted to play dumb to make it seem like this hadn’t been her plan all along.

“Julia, let us forget about this pack and leave to start a new life with one another, not having to worry about anything!” Jared exclaims throwing his hands to the side where Julia, nearly burst out crying from complete joy.

“Oh Jared, I knew you felt the same way I do!” She cheers throwing her arms around his neck in glee, whilst Jared’s hands remained at his side. “Let’s leave now!” She cheers not seeming to care that her two sons were stood right there, but Jared smiled shaking his head.

“We will but first, there is one more thing which needs to be done in order for us to fully move passed Remi.” Jared says with a smile whilst I see his hand slowly go to his back pocket, knowing what was hidden in that back pocket, I take both Max and Griffin by the arm and pull them away even further.

Both men obliged but do look down at me a little confused, whilst my eyes remained on Jared as he slowly pulls the gun with those silver bullets out of his pocket and around his front. Julia, who was too busy looking into the eyes of Jared, pressing her body so close to his that she didn’t even take notice.

“I know Julia, I know what you did to Remi, and I know why you did it.” Jared tells her looking Julia right in the eyes, his voice no longer full of happiness and glee, but now dark and full of hatred and anger. “You took her away from me in the most horrific way, I believe the only way you’ll understand the amount of pain you caused her, is to allow you to experience it also.” He tells her before in a split second, a loud gunshot ripples through the quiet land causing many to jump in surprise.

I gulp a little as I watched Julia take a step back a little shocked, but after placing her hand down to chest and pulling away to see blood covering it, she knew what had happened. She stumbled a little away from Jared who only watched her with a bored look on his face.

“You shot me.” She says before walking a little too far and falls down the hill, tumbling for a moment before landing on the floor where she begins to scream out in pain. “WHY ARE YOU STANDING THERE?! I’M YOUR MOTHER, HELP ME!” She screams now looking over at Max and Griffin who still remained beside me, before rolling around in pain once again.

“We will do nothing of the sort, you deserve what is happening.” Max tells her coldly, where she only screams in pain even louder, I know she has some such awful things but seeing someone else in that much of pain, it was horrible.

“We have to do something!” I say wanting to rush over to stop her pain, but Jared soon holds up his hand towards me in a stop manner.

“She is going to die regardless if you were to help, I managed to get my hands on that same poison that she had been using to kill Remi. I filled the inside of the bullets intending to use it on myself, it is in her bloodstream, and she’ll die soon. If you were to touch her, you’d also catch it and die.” Jared warns me with a look where Max, soon takes my hand pulling me back so I couldn’t get close.

But seeing and hearing her suffer in that way was a little much knowing this, he pulls me in to lay my head on his chest with his arm covering me. My shield as Julia, slowly died in front of us.
