Chapter Ninety-Five: Let The Attack Begin

I’m carried deeper into the dark acres of the woods for a couple more moments, my arms wrapped around his neck to prevent me from falling to the floor, the chains getting heavier and heavier the longer they secured my hands together.

Jared’s face didn’t change as we continued, his face was blank but, in his eyes, I could see his mind was racing with all that I had told him and his plans for what was about to happen. That area of this entire encounter still unclear to me, I knew he believed what I told him about Julia, but what he was going to do worried me. But what also shocked me was how Jared was able to know his way around this wood without even needing a map! It all looked the same!

That was until we emerged out of the lining of trees and began to make our way down a dirt path, the little landmarks dotted around became familiar to me, I had been here maybe once before. As I looked closer and really went in myself in hopes of remembering, I soon recognised a certain field I had stood in with my guards the night it snowed, we were on our way to The Shadow Wolf Pack!

“Jared, didn’t you understand when I said it wasn’t this pack's fault, Julia was the true mastermind behind it all?” I ask looking up at his face as we continued at our steady pace, I didn’t know if he was still out for revenge and thought taking down an entire pack was going to solve that!

“You don’t need to worry Rose, as I said I’ve got a plan of my own. Just stay quiet.” Jared says not looking down at me as we continued, where I soon come face to face with the border of The Shadow Wolf Pack situated by a hill type terrain, right at the bottom of that hill stood Julia and Griffin, who sat on the floor looking quite worried.

As soon as Julia sensed another presence, she turns around to face us with a smile before her eyes land on me, in Jared’s arms looking a little nervous for what was about to happen. This is the first time he’s seeing that woman since I told him the truth of what she had done, I hope he doesn’t go crazy and attack her with me still in his arms!

“Jared, why have you brought her with you, that wasn’t part of the plan?!” Julia asks in an annoyed type of manner stamping her foot on the ground like a little child, it appears she isn’t very happy to see me but in reality, I hated I had to be in the same vicinity as her either.

“There’s been a little change in plan.” Was all Jared replies placing me down to sit on the grass just at the bottom of the little hill, his eyes looking in mine telling me that way to not move or make a scene, in some way, he was going to handle it.

With a slightly nod of my head telling him I understood, he walks over to Julia who still wasn’t very happy that I had been brought here and Jared hadn’t stuck to her detailed plan of what this situation was going to look like, the two engage in a conversation. Whilst Julia was distracted, Griffin used this time to crawl away from her and rush over to me knelling beside me.

“Are you okay, he didn’t hurt you, did he?” Griffin asks placing his hand to my cheek but his eyes roaming my body for injures, I simply shake my head also making sure he too wasn’t hurt.

“No, I’m okay but he knows, I’ve told Jared everything. Julia poisoning his mate, being weirdly obsessed with him the lot, I’m just worried what he’s planning in that head of his.” I say turning my attention back over to the pair and they’re pretty heated discussion, there’s one thing that Julia hates more than anything, when something happens which was not part of her meticulously thought-out plan.

“I’ve tried to mind-link Max a few times but due to the chloroform, I’m getting nowhere.” Griffin tells me with a look of fear on his face, I suspect he was still worried that Julia would be able to take control of him again, but I knew how impossible that was.

“I just wish you would have spoken with me before you changed up the plans, you know how many hours I have spent planning this all!” Julia exclaims whilst walking away from Jared, who I could see looked at the back of her with such hatred in his eyes. “Now Griffin, come here, you have a great part to play in this!” Julia says pointing down to the ground by her feet as though Griffin was some kind of dog, that making anger rush through me in the moment.

“No mother! I want no part to play in this fucked up plan you have! I didn’t want to the first time, and I don’t now!” Griffin shouts standing up for himself as he should have been given the opportunity the first time, but no, was a word that Julia hated.

“How dare you speak to your mother in that way! I told you to come here!” She shouts angrily once again stamping her foot on the ground, this is the problem if you give a child everything they want, they’ll only grow up and believe they can have the same!

But once Griffin didn’t move an inch, she takes a deep breath in with a shrug of her shoulders. Reaching into her pocket, she pulls out a very sharp blade and rushed over to us, moving past Griffin to pick me up by the neck, she stands behind me placing that very sharp blade to my neck. It was so close I felt the cold metal touch my skin, my body frozen in place knowing if I make too sudden of movements, I would be a goner!

“Allow me to rephrase that, if you do not get up and do as I say, your little friend here that every seems to love, will soon meet her maker.” She says evilly looking over at Griffin, where both of us soon make contact.

Knowing it would not be a good move for me, he got to his feet holding up his hands in surrender. Julia seemed to like this as an even bigger smile formed on her lips, God I hate this woman! Griffin goes back to where he was previously sat and waited with bated breath to see if I was going to be released from this crazy woman’s grip!

“Allow me to hold her, that way you’ll be able to fully control Griffin whilst I ensure she doesn’t get any ideas.” Jared says walking over to Julia, I could see he was also a little worried at what this crazy woman may do to me.

Julia just smiled happy that all was going her way as the knife is finally, moved away from my neck and I’m pushed forward. Thankfully, Jared catches me in his arms before I could hit the floor, due to my hands begin chained together, there would have been no way I would have been able to catch myself and I’d fall flat on my face for sure!

I’m turned around by Jared before I’m back in his arms again where I hate to admit this, I felt safer than I did a couple of moments ago. Julia heads do Griffin whilst Jared walks both he and I up the little hill, this action also causing a little piece of confusion to spread through me.

“What’s happening?” I whisper as we reached the top of the hill, I know he wanted me to remain quiet so his part of the plan could continue without a hitch, but I didn’t like being kept in the dark.

“Don’t panic, I have it all under control. I sent a message to that mate of yours, he should be here momentarily.” Jared whispered back as Julia begins to shout her orders at Griffin, who stood with his head down not really listening.

As like on cue, from the right I see a black blob begin to make its way closer to us a high speed. As I watched, I see that little black blob morph into a black wolf which I instantly, recognise as Max. In that moment, a huge wave of relief washes through me as he shifts and in mid-air, places a black pair of shorts to cover his body before he lands on his two feet back in human form.

Scanning the area within a millisecond, his eyes soon land on me with my hands chained together in the arms of Jared. Initially, anger flashes his expression as he thought of this horrible man touching his mate, but Jared soon steps forward with a smile.

“I think this belongs to you.” Was all he says before I’m thrown out of his arms, shock takes over my senses as I fall downwards for a short few seconds before landing safely in the same arms that I love.

“Are you okay?” Max asks me moving my hair out of my face whilst looking over me for injuries, once he saw my hands were in chains, he takes the two ends and pulls them apart, the chains snapping instantly where I was finally, free.

“Max, I was so scared.” I say now wrapping my arms so tightly around his neck, his arms going around my body telling me it was all going to be okay; I was with him, and he wouldn’t allow anything to happen to me.

He turns a little just overcome with emotion where from Max’s neck, I spot Jared, still stood at the top of the hill looking down at Max and I as we embraced. In his eyes I saw a little hurt but also happiness, I suspect he misses doing this with Remi.

“Jared what the fuck?!” Julia asks in a rage as once again, Jared had gone behind her back and changed yet another part of her plan.

I soon pull away from Max slightly, his arms still holding me up close to him as I watched Julia rush up the hill having a little temper tantrum over to Jared. Who turns away from looking at Max and I before down to Julia, that same look of blankness as before on his face.

“There’s been a little change in plan.” Was all he says repeating the same sentence, this annoying Julia even more as she slaps him on the hands slightly before turning down to look at Max and me.

“Whatever, at least my other son can witness what true leadership looks like.” She said with a smirk whilst I’m placed down on the ground, but Max’s arms still tightly wrapped around my body.

Let the attack begin.
