Chapter Seventy-Seven: Deep Hatred

The room remained in the same stunned silence for what felt like a lifetime, Griffin and Max the most shocked out of them all. But I certainly understood why, I was proposing that it was their own mother who was the true mastermind behind the horrible night which not only changed so many lives but ruined that of her own son.

“H-how do you know?” Griffin asks who stood beside me with such a shocked but worried look on his face, I just sigh knowing I was going to have to explain but due to their reactions, I needed to be careful.

“I’ve suspected it was Julia behind it all for a long time, but with no solid proof and her being your mother, I didn’t want to say anything in case I had been barking up the wrong tree. But all the evidence which I have found, I’m sorry but it all points to her.” I explain looking at both men with such an apologetic expression, I knew if it was my mother who had been behind some awful circumstances in my life, I wouldn’t know what to do with myself or truly believe it.

“When I first began to look into it all, I spoke with a few individuals who were around the palace before and when it happened. That was when I learnt how isolated she would make Griffin feel, she not only took the title which was his by birth right away from him but then went around to anyone who would listen and make it seem as though he was some kind of monster who couldn’t control his anger and would lash out.” I say thinking back to when I had asked Suzette, she told me she would have never expected anything such as that from Griffin, which is what told me how much thought Julia had put into this, this wasn’t just an overnight thing, she planned it months in advance.

“She forced him into multiple meetings almost everyday, there she would drill into his head that everything she was doing was to help Griffin and repeat how much she loved him. When in reality, she was the person putting all the poison in to anyone she would see. That’s why when that night occurred, it never shocked people as they would hear what Griffin was like and kind of accepted it, not having the decency to look into it themselves.” I explain wanting them to also see how her plan was so meticulously thought out in such detail, this couldn’t be an accident.

“But I still don’t understand, what was Julia gaining from all of this?” Fred asks from beside Max, which was the golden question to all of this and one, I hadn’t been able to find the answer to yet.

“In this moment, I’m unclear on many things surrounding this situation but I believe I may have something which will help.” I say with a smile and as like he knew, Macaulay walks towards me handing the wallet from Jared’s mate, one Suzette protected over herself.

I take it with a smile before first handing it over to Griffin, who took one look where such intense shock appeared on his face, before walking over to Max so he and Fred could take a look.

“It seems that your mother was good friends with Jared and his mate before she was killed, again I’m still not clear on the details but it’s not hard to believe she also, wanted revenge for what happened to her friend which is when her and Jared hatched their plan.” I explain placing my hands behind my back, whilst Griffin sat with his head down on the side, with Max sat in his chair deep in thoughts.

“But this still isn’t making any sense, if our mother was to risk everything to help Jared get revenge, they all must have been quite good friends. But I don’t have any memory of Jared or his mate whilst we were growing up.” Griffin says which was something I didn’t think about, Julia isn’t going to help some random stranger.

“Once again, I’m still trying to work it all out and see what sort of relationship they shared. Which is why I wanted to ask if you had any photo albums we could take a look through, perhaps your mother has photos of her own.” I say now looking over to Max, he nodded his head but deep in his eyes I could see his mind was going at a million miles an hour.

I sigh walking over to the desk closer to Max, my hand placed on his shoulder in hopes of it bringing him some comfort. I had known about Julia for some time, and it had shocked me, but this was their mother were discussing, the woman who is supposed to love and care for them but in reality, could have been plotting against them this entire time.

He sends me a kind smile before taking me by the hand and pulling me down to sit on his lap, my arm going around his neck whilst taking a deep breath in of my scent to calm down. I smile a little but that soon fades when I took a look to Griffin, he still sat on the sofa but staring over at Max and I, a look of hurt on his face. I know I had told him I loved Max and things were going to be different now, but this was the first time he had seen us together.

“I understand I may sound like a broken record, but I still don’t understand, how did Julia manipulate Griffin's wolf?” Fred asks from beside us breaking the growing tension in the room, I just smile thankful that he had read the room and stepped in.

“There is this certain book in the library which details step by step how to take control of a half bloods wolf, Julia must have also read it and used it to her advantage.” I explain whilst Griffin just stands up throwing his arms in the air, I mean we can all talk about it happening but for Griffin, this is his life and wolf which is being messed with.

“So, because of the way I was born, anyone who can read that book can fuck with me?!” Griffin asks thinking the worst, but I just shake my head with a little smile.

“That’s the thing, we all have that one person that we trust no matter what happens. We know, they’ll always have our backs, someone we can rely on. For Griffin, that used to be his mother because well, she was his mother.” I begun to explain where Griffin was sure to scoff, his face holding nothing but anger.

“Not anymore, after everything, I can’t even be in the same room as that woman without feeling such deep hatred towards her.” He says looking right at me where I send him a look, he knows me very well, so he knew what I was thinking. “So, I can’t be fucked with anymore?” He asks where I shake my head but that same smile on my lips.

“She can’t anymore, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t someone out there who can’t.” I say with a tilt of my head hoping he would understand, but when he was asked who, I knew I’d have to show them instead. “I hereby bypass Griffin and bring his wolf to life. You are under my control and listen to every command which I have for you.” I say looking Griffin dead in the eyes as I spoke, within a millisecond of my command, his eyes turn that deep shade of green I had heard so much about and he springs right to me knelling down with his head at my feet.

“Me.” Is all I say.
