Chapter 90 Do Not Trust Her
Amelia frowned immediately.
"Why did you follow me again?"
Samuel raised an eyebrow. "Take me with you."
This time Amelia refused directly. "You're too heavy, you'll slow me down. Get off."
Samuel put on a hurt expression.
"So heartless? I was just comforting you, and now you're kicking me to the curb after using me?"
Amelia repeated: "Get off."
Samuel was about to get off reluctantly when he suddenly thought of something and said, "You'd better not kick me off. The traffic rules in Goldenvale say electric scooters can't carry passengers. With me here, you can use my influence to avoid trouble. Otherwise, if you get taken to the police station, that'll delay things even more."
Amelia thought for a moment and finally relented.
"Then hold on tight. If you fall off, that's not on me."
The next second, Samuel wrapped his arms tightly around her waist.
Amelia's face darkened, and she almost threw Samuel off right then.
Samuel looked innocent. "Didn't you tell me to hold on tight? What if I really fall off?"
Amelia gritted her teeth and said, "Cut the crap, we're leaving!"
She endured the two hands around her waist and sped off on the electric scooter.
Samuel behaved himself after that. Though his hands were around her waist, he kept them still and didn't move around.
It was lucky he didn't move around.
If his hands dared to get inappropriate even once, Amelia wouldn't care if he was the head of the Crawford family or not.
The electric scooter zipped through the streets, weaving through heavy traffic, heading straight for Dawnview General Hospital.
Along the way, some busybodies rolled down their windows to mock Samuel for being a grown man letting a woman ride and carry him.
Samuel felt nothing, and the corners of his mouth even turned up slightly.
That smug little attitude made people want to punch him.
Fortunately, Amelia had no mind to pay attention to Samuel in the back seat. Her mind was on only one thing: getting to Dawnview General Hospital as fast as possible.
...
Dawnview General Hospital, operating room.
Yasmin paced back and forth anxiously.
She wasn't worried about whether Geraldo could be saved, but hoping he would die quickly.
Once Geraldo woke up and said she had taken his medicine and refused to give it to him, she would face prison.
If she had known Geraldo still had a chance of being resuscitated, she should have waited longer.
She should have waited until Geraldo was brain dead before going out to call for help.
She had been careless.
"Ms. Richardson."
Geraldo's son Griffin McGinnis and daughter-in-law Christina McGinnis had rushed back not long ago. Hearing that Yasmin had discovered Geraldo had passed out in time, they thanked her repeatedly.
Geraldo's grandson Kyle McGinnis walked up with a bottle of water.
"Ms. Richardson, you've been waiting with us for so long. Sit down for a bit and have some water."
"No need." Yasmin declined with a worried look.
Until she confirmed Geraldo's death, she couldn't sit down in peace.
Seeing her like this, Kyle felt even more grateful.
"You said earlier that my grandfather accepted you as his student. If Grandpa knew how worried you are about him, he'd definitely be very touched. But your health matters too, don't wear yourself out."
"Alright, thank you."
Yasmin finally reached out and took the water Kyle handed her.
Inadvertently, their fingers touched.
Kyle felt a cool, water-like sensation flash across his fingertips.
He instinctively looked up at Yasmin, seeing her eyes like water and her skin like cream, and his heart stirred slightly.
Kyle had been raised by Geraldo since childhood, so he kept to himself and rarely interacted with girls.
For this very reason, just from their fingers touching, Kyle's face instantly turned red.
Yasmin noticed.
But because she had things on her mind, and because the McGinnis family, though wealthy, was still a notch below the Sullivan family, she didn't pay much attention to Kyle's reaction.
After taking two symbolic sips of water, she went back to waiting anxiously at the operating room door.
Just then, the operating room door opened.
A doctor wearing a mask and green surgical scrubs walked out.
Yasmin's eyes immediately lit up, and she rushed over even more urgently than Griffin, Christina, and Kyle, asking, "Doctor, how is the person inside?"
The doctor said, "Don't worry, we're still trying to save him. Right now we need a family member to sign a surgical consent form. Are you a family member?"
Hearing this, Yasmin's eyes dimmed slightly, and she shook her head and stepped aside.
"Don't worry" - did that mean there was a good chance of saving him?
Geraldo was so old, yet his body was this strong?
Any other old man wouldn't be able to withstand the ordeal of surgery.
After Griffin and Christina signed, they pressed on: "Doctor, what are the chances of my father surviving?"
The doctor said conservatively, "I'm not the lead surgeon, so I don't know the specific situation. But you should start preparing yourselves mentally. The patient is quite old and may not be able to hold on."
Hearing this, both Griffin and Christina swayed slightly.
But Yasmin's eyes slowly brightened again.
Might not hold on - that would be perfect.
"Please, you must save my father! We're willing to pay any amount." Griffin said.
The doctor nodded. "We'll do our best."
With that, he was about to return to the operating room when a cold voice suddenly rang out.
"Yasmin? What are you doing here?"
The people at the operating room door all froze and instinctively looked toward where the voice came from.
At the end of the corridor, a slender figure was walking quickly toward them and grabbed Yasmin's hand.
"I'm asking you a question! What are you doing here!"
Yasmin's wrist hurt from the grip.
She glared angrily, and when she saw who it was, she was clearly startled.
It was Amelia.
Her long hair was somewhat disheveled from the wind, but it gave her a different kind of beauty.
Yasmin instinctively felt guilty.
She swallowed and tried to stay calm. "Let go of me, you're hurting me!"
Just as Amelia was about to speak, a large hand reached out from the side and firmly grabbed her wrist.
It was Kyle.
He didn't know Amelia, but felt that although she was beautiful, her demeanor was too sharp, and she seemed aggressive right from the start, giving a very bad first impression.
"Miss, whoever you are, please let go of Ms. Richardson!"
Griffin and Christina also walked over.
"Who are you?"
Amelia released Yasmin's hand expressionlessly, but her eyes remained fixed on Yasmin.
Her instinct told her that since Geraldo had personally exposed Yasmin for plagiarizing Grant's work, Yasmin couldn't possibly be kind enough to come over and care about Geraldo's well-being.
There must be something hidden in all this.
But the McGinnis family's interference prevented her from continuing to question Yasmin.
"My name is Amelia."
She looked up and scanned each of the McGinnis family members present, then said, "Geraldo is my student."
At these words, all three McGinnis family members showed suspicious expressions.
Especially Kyle, who, because of Amelia's attitude toward Yasmin, instinctively distrusted her.
"My grandfather is your student? Are you kidding me?"
