Chapter 15 She Is Very Dangerous, Quickly Come to the Hospital
William's brow furrowed slightly.
Isabella, standing beside him, saw Amelia's incoming call. A flash of confusion crossed her eyes, along with something else that was hard to read.
"William?" Isabella looked at William's hesitation and prompted him.
Only then did William snap back to reality.
On Isabella's phone was the gossip that had just broken online about Isabella visiting him late at night, and now Amelia was calling.
Coming to confront him?
William frowned slightly, then pressed the decline button.
But just seconds after hanging up, his phone vibrated again.
It was Amelia again.
This made him feel irritated.
"William, aren't you going to answer?" Isabella asked.
The next moment, William declined again and set Amelia's number to Do Not Disturb.
"No need to bother with it," he said calmly.
Isabella seemed to open her mouth to say something, then closed it again.
She nodded hesitantly, looking quite uneasy.
But when she lowered her head, a flash of smugness crossed her eyes.
She had done it on purpose.
Deliberately told William about the short video incident during the day.
And showed him the latest gossip news.
Then deliberately reminded him multiple times in front of her, knowing he definitely wouldn't answer Amelia's call.
"Let's go back, it's getting late."
William picked up his coat and helped Isabella stand up.
The two took the Brown Group's executive elevator down from the top floor together.
While the two were being photographed by reporters at the building and exposed online, on the other side, Amelia was being lifted down from an ambulance.
The gurney rushed quickly toward the hospital. Blood slowly trickled down from Amelia's forehead, staining the white sheet red.
Amelia was barely conscious, but when she managed to open her eyes, all she could see were the cold white fluorescent lights rapidly passing overhead.
In her ears were noisy background sounds and a female police officer's anxious voice.
"Called her husband twice and both times he hung up. What do we do now?"
"Should we call again?"
"What if he still doesn't answer?"
"Forget it, didn't you see how twisted the car door was? Right now we can only see the wound on her forehead, but we don't know if there are internal injuries!"
"Treat her first! And keep calling!"
"Okay!"
More commotion followed.
It seemed like some argument was happening at the hospital.
Amelia drifted in and out of consciousness. The air was filled with the hospital's distinctive disinfectant smell.
She heard them arguing about something. Finally, Mia's familiar voice came through.
Mia was screaming something. Amelia was wheeled into the emergency room.
Then she lost consciousness again.
...
Mia was absolutely furious.
Watching Amelia, covered in blood, being pushed into the emergency room, waves of fear washed over her.
Thank goodness this time she was brought to Evergreen Hospital. Thank goodness she happened to be working overtime tonight. Thank goodness she happened to pass by and check out the commotion.
Just moments ago, they were still discussing what to do with Amelia.
In an emergency situation like this, no one knew that Amelia was pregnant.
Thank goodness she knew Amelia's specific condition.
Thank goodness her father was the hospital director, and her anger carried some weight.
Otherwise, who knows what would have happened to Amelia.
Mia looked at the female officer beside her, holding Amelia's phone trying to call someone. She walked over.
After explaining that she was a doctor and Amelia's good friend, and understanding that the officer was trying to contact Amelia's family, she took the phone.
On the screen were countless missed calls. Mia's anger grew even stronger.
Mia's phone vibrated.
She took out her phone and glanced at it. There was a push notification—
#William and Isabella leave the Brown Group together in the same car#
Great, not answering calls because he's with Isabella!
Mia immediately called William.
The first call wasn't answered.
The second call was finally picked up on the last few rings.
"What is it?" William's cold voice came through.
"What is it?" Mia yelled directly, "Why aren't you answering Amelia's calls!"
In the driver's seat of the Aston Martin, William frowned.
After confirming it was Mia calling, his voice grew even colder: "Did Amelia ask you to call me?"
"No!" Mia's roar came through the phone, "I'm calling you on my own!"
Ahead was a red light. William braked and checked the Do Not Disturb setting he'd put on Amelia.
Dozens of missed calls.
If Amelia didn't ask Mia to call, then what was this about?
The light turned green. William started the car again. The Aston Martin moved forward smoothly.
Just like his current mood—calm and undisturbed.
From the moment Isabella walked into the Brown Group building, the calls hadn't stopped.
What was Amelia's intention? Couldn't he guess?
"Come to Evergreen Hospital right now!" Mia ordered.
"Not going," William said coldly.
Amelia must have gone crying to Mia again, just like before.
This time was even worse.
She even had Mia come give him trouble!
Ever since he brought up divorce with Amelia, her temper had been getting worse and worse.
"She was hit by a car."
Mia's voice changed from furious to ice-cold, finally leaving just one harsh statement—
"William, if you have any heart left, come over!"
The brakes screeched sharply.
The car stopped instantly.
The driver behind cursed angrily. William listened to the sound of Mia hanging up, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the steering wheel.
Isabella in the passenger seat had been listening quietly to everything. Her phone screen on the side suddenly lit up.
Isabella glanced at it, put away her phone, then looked at William with "concern."
"William, what if something really happened to her? We need to get to the hospital right away!"
Isabella looked very worried: "This is no small matter, it could be really serious!"
"At least she went to Evergreen Hospital. I heard Mia is her friend. At least with Mia there, someone can look after her."
"William, let's go quickly. Amelia made dozens of calls, it must be urgent!"
Isabella was almost in tears.
But when she lowered her head, her eyes were full of calculation.
The car accident was serious.
But the issue was, the person just happened to be at the hospital where Mia worked.
And Mia's father was the hospital director.
Plus, Amelia still had time to make dozens of calls to him.
She seemed concerned, but was actually hinting.
Hinting that this was all an act staged by Amelia and Mia.
But Isabella definitely wouldn't let William see through it.
She shed tears with "genuine emotion."
"William, I do want to be with you, but if something happens to her, I'll feel guilty for the rest of my life..."
Crying, she suddenly turned away and dry heaved. When she recovered, there was "blood" at the corner of her mouth.
Seeing William's concerned eyes, Isabella hid the prop blood packet in her bag and shook her head: "Don't worry about me, go to the hospital quickly."
William's lips pressed into a tight line.
The car started again. The Aston Martin turned around and headed toward Evergreen Hospital.
