Chapter 1104: You Stayed With Me All Night
Emma was still in the same guest room she had used during her last visit.
As soon as she walked into the room, memories of her previous actions flooded back to her. For a moment, she even considered using the same method to teach that little brat a lesson again, just to see if she would dare to disobey!
However, such thoughts quickly faded away. After all, she was afraid of being found out by Victor.
She had finally gained a glimmer of hope, and if she screwed it up, Emma would never forgive herself.
When she was lying in bed, her mind was consumed by the images from Victor's bedroom.
She was so close to becoming the young mistress of the Leer family!
If only Nathan hadn't shown up!
...
Emma spent the entire night awake, waiting for Nathan to come and notify her that Victor had woken up.
However, Nathan never came until dawn broke.
Thinking back to Nathan's attitude towards her last night, Emma bit her lip, got out of bed, quickly tidied herself up, and knocked on Victor's bedroom door.
"Victor, are you awake?"
Footsteps soon echoed from inside.
Nathan opened the door, and upon seeing Emma, he respectfully said, "Mr. Leer hasn't woken up yet, Miss Thornton. If you're up, you should head back."
Emma frowned. "Then I'll wait until Victor wakes up to leave. Otherwise, I won't feel at ease."
"There's a meeting at the company soon, and once Mr. Leer wakes up, he'll need to head straight there," Nathan said, maintaining a calm facade as he lied.
The implication was clear-his boss didn't have time to entertain her, so she should stop wasting her time waiting around here.
Emma, however, seemed oblivious to his hints and walked into the bedroom.
As Nathan had said, Victor was still lying on the bed, sound asleep.
Perhaps due to the hangover, he furrowed his brows.
Cautiously, Emma called out to him, "Victor?"
When there was no response, she tentatively reached out, wanting to smooth the frown on his forehead in the most affectionate way possible.
However, before her hand could touch Victor's face, he suddenly opened his bloodshot eyes and looked at her with a mixture of indifference and wariness.
"What are you doing?" His voice was hoarse.
Victor had just woken up and didn't immediately recall what had happened the night before. Seeing Emma in front of him, he wore an expression of cool detachment.
Emma's hand froze in the air, and meeting his guarded gaze made her feel a bit uneasy. "I... I saw you frowning and wanted to help..."
Before she could finish, Victor coldly interrupted, "No need."
With that, he propped himself up slowly from the bed.
His head throbbed painfully, and the memories of last night began to resurface.
He had been drinking with Isaac at the club, and then… he got drunk and called Emma over.
Remembering this, Victor pressed his temple, his expression gradually softening. "You stayed with me all night?"
Emma's expression was still a bit stiff, but she managed to smile. "It's rare for you to ask me to take care of you. I couldn't just leave you alone."
She had hoped that saying this would elicit some concern from Victor.
However, to her surprise, he simply asked, "Where's Nathan?"
Feeling a lump in her throat, she shifted slightly to let him see the doorway.
Nathan stepped forward respectfully, "Mr. Leer."
Victor was relieved when he saw Nathan, confirming that he hadn't been alone with Emma all night.
He nodded and didn't say anything further.
Nathan glanced at the time and cautiously spoke up, "Mr. Leer, it's time for Miss Leer to go to school."
During this time, Nathan had been busy handling company matters for Victor and was unaware of Miss Leer's transfer situation.
