Chapter 1090: Discussing the Engagement Again

"No!" Sophia shouted.

Sophia was extremely angry to see her father agreeing with the wicked Aunt Emma. She slammed down her fork and jumped off her chair, running upstairs with her short legs.

Emma, although filled with anger at Sophia's tantrum, had to put on a show.

"Sophia!"

She quickly put down her cutlery, pretending to chase after her.

But Victor stopped her, saying, "Leave her be."

Emma feigned worry, saying, "But, Sophia is acting like this..."

Victor remained unmoved. "Let her calm down on her own. I've spoiled her by always giving in to her demands before."

On their way back, Victor reflected on the incident where Sophia had damaged Cameron's car tire.

He could understand why she did it, and he always prioritized her well-being.

Now that she was gradually recovering, it was time to correct his daughter's way of expressing her emotions.

The situation with Olivia presented an opportunity for that.

Emma felt relieved but said with a look of guilt. "It's all my fault. I know Sophia doesn't like me and that this matter can't be rushed. I shouldn't have stayed for dinner and upset Sophia."

Hearing her self-reproachful tone, Victor glanced at her and said, "It has nothing to do with you. She will have to face this reality sooner or later."

"Let's continue eating." With that, he continued eating as if nothing had happened.

Emma felt a sense of satisfaction and sat back down.

After dinner, Emma pretended to express concern and suggested going upstairs to check on Sophia.

As expected, Victor refused. "Sophia just needs some private space to calm down."

Emma didn't insist further and said, "Then I'll go back. Don't worry about Sophia when you're at work. I'll come visit Sophia often during this time."

Victor nodded without expressing agreement or disagreement. "You understand Sophia's personality. If you want her to accept you, you must be patient."

She didn't expect him to offer advice.

Emma was even more pleasantly surprised. "I will. Even if Sophia continues to ignore me, I will take good care of her!"

Victor didn't say anything else and had Charlotte see Emma off.

Leaving Victor's place, Emma could no longer contain her excitement.

At the Thornton family estate.

"Emma, why are you just coming back now?"

Beatrice was sitting on the sofa waiting for her. When she saw Emma enter, she urged her to have dinner. "Dinner has gotten cold. I'll have someone heat it up again. Freshen up and come down for dinner."

Upon hearing this, Emma smiled and stopped in her tracks. "I've already eaten."

Beatrice was puzzled. "Where did you have dinner?"

Thinking of the scene when she had dinner with Victor just now made Emma's lips curl up in satisfaction. "I ate with Victor."

Upon hearing this, Beatrice sat up abruptly with a nervous expression on her face. "What did Victor say? Did he bring up the engagement again?"

Since Olivia returned to the country, Victor hadn't taken the initiative to contact Emma.

When Emma went to see him, he only mentioned canceling the engagement.

Beatrice didn't think this time would be any different.

But as soon as she asked and saw her daughter's expression, Beatrice couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope rise within her. "Did Victor decide to continue with your engagement?"

Emma nodded and recounted her conversation with Victor to her mother.

After hearing the whole story, Beatrice nodded repeatedly. "It doesn't matter. None of that matters as long as he completely cuts ties with that woman and is willing to continue with the engagement!"
