Chapter 162 162
I couldn't settle down at work. I didn't know how I was going to talk to Luca. I thought to myself that I should have gone with Cad and his friend last night, so at least I would know where Luca was staying.
I just sighed and looked at my wristwatch. It's only 5 PM, but I'm already done with my work. It's probably the first time this has happened again. I wasn't that busy anymore because I forced myself to finish the rest of my work last night.
I was walking out of the company when my phone rang. I immediately answered the call when I saw that it was from Aiden.
"Hi, Aiden," I said, smiling, then went to my car and got inside.
"Hello, love... You're done with work?" he asked; I can hear him tapping his ballpen on the table.
"Yup, do you want to go on a date?" I asked with a grin.
I heard him chuckle on the other line. "Of course, who am I to refuse?" he playfully asked. "But I won't be done for a while. I have one more patient coming... Do you want to come here to the hospital first? You can pick me up since I don't have my car."
I smiled and nodded even though he couldn't see me. "Okay, love. Wait for me there, hmm? I love you, mwah!" I even made a kissing sound on the phone.
I heard Aiden's refreshing laugh. "I love you too, baby. Mwah!"
I bit my lower lip, holding back a smile. Our call didn't end for a long time because he was being so flirty. I just shook my head and was about to start the car, but I was stunned when someone called me; I thought it was Aiden again, but it was just a number.
I just shrugged and answered the call, "Hello?"
"Hello, Crescent!"
My forehead creased when I recognized his voice. "C-Cad?"
"The one and only... Oh, I know you're looking for me, Crescent. It's such good timing that I called, right?" he asked.
I just blinked... I'm confused by his actions, but this is a good opportunity.
"Um, C-Cad... I just want to ask you about Luca's address or even his number," I said, feeling shy and swallowing.
"Woah, that's fast. Just chill, girl."
I held myself back from rolling my eyes at what he said. "It's not what you're thinking. I just want to talk to him seriously. I also just want him to get up and forget the past."
"Forget the past? It's weird hearing that from you, Ms. North... That's not just the past; your child is involved in that." Cad's voice became serious, which made me nervous for no reason.
"O-Of course, it's still painful... b-but, I just want Luca to finally move forward."
"Whatever, I'll just send you the number and the address of his unit," he just said on the other line.
"T-Thank you," I just said and held my phone tightly.
"No, I should be the one to thank you... because of what you've just said, I have now a proper reason to dig deeper," he just said... I can feel that he's grinning now.
"H-Huh?" I just managed to ask.
"Oh, nothing, by the way, I'm rooting for you... Ma sii preparato, signorina... Arrivederci."
I just blinked when he ended the call. He immediately sent me the number and the address of where Luca was staying. I just sighed and put my phone in my bag and drove the car fast.
I just tried to get what Cad said out of my mind. Even if I think about it, I won't know what's on his mind.
When I finally reached the hospital, I fixed my makeup and my hair first before I went out of my car. I went inside the hospital and went to Aiden's office. He also went back to working as a doctor. To be honest, I was the one who forced him. I just told him that he already regretted what he did. What's important is that Havannah is alive.
I smiled when I immediately saw Aiden when I arrived at his office. He looked in my direction; he was obviously stunned. I immediately went inside and hugged him. He also hugged me back.
"Aren't you done yet? We're still going on a date," I whispered and slightly distanced my face from him to stare at him.
He looked away. "Um... C-Crescent, um--"
I sealed his lips with a kiss. I just smiled because he was obviously surprised by what I did. Why is he reacting like that? I've always been the one to initiate a kiss with him.
"I missed you. Let's have a date now," I just said and held both of his hands.
"Um... I still have a patient, Cres," he said and looked to his side.
I also looked there. I was so surprised when I saw Luca sitting on the hospital bed with a big wound on his arm. He was just wearing a tank top, so his wound was very visible. He was just looking at us with a cold gaze...
What happened to his wound?
"O-Oh, I-I'm sorry..." I slightly distanced myself from Aiden.
Luca didn't say anything and just grabbed his leather jacket and wore it even though his wound didn't look like it had been cleaned yet. He immediately stood up and walked past us; he was about to go out, but Aiden immediately called him.
"I haven't treated your wound yet," he just said.
Luca didn't answer and just went out of the room. I sighed and held Aiden's hand tightly. I looked at him; I looked at his eyes as if I was asking for permission.
Aiden kissed my lips and nodded. "Go ahead," he smiled.
"Thank you, love... I'll be quick," I just said and kissed him again before I rushed out of the room to chase after Luca.
I just sighed when I didn't catch up to Luca. He was no longer there when I went out of the hospital. I looked around, but I couldn't find him anymore.
"Why are you looking for me?"
I flinched when I heard his voice behind me. I immediately turned to him. I swallowed and held my handbag tightly... It looks like he's not drunk anymore like last night; I think I can talk to him properly.
"Luca... you should let Aiden heal your wound," I said and looked at his arm.
"Just go straight to the point, Crescent... What do you want to say?" he asked coldly... His eyes... they're still lifeless just like the last time I saw them.
"Y-You should move forward now, Luca. I-I'm sorry, sorry for the words I said to you before... b-but what happened wasn't your fault. You don't have to blame yourself anymore. I-I've forgiven you... Y-You should... live your life again," I mumbled; I never knew this would be hard.
Luca didn't say anything; he just remained looking at me. He sighed and held the back of his neck. "Thank you for forgiving me, but you don't have to say those kind words, Crescent... You also don't have to feel guilty... I'm not being like this because of you... I'm doing this for myself. I want to pay for what I did to our child. Just forget that I existed in your world and continue living the life you have right now... You look happy, and I'm happy for you."
After he said that, he immediately turned his back on me and walked away. I lost the strength to call him and chase after him. I just closed my eyes tightly and held my temple... Only one thing can save him... and that's if I admit that our child is alive.
But I don't have the courage to do that... I'm scared to admit the truth to him.
