66. Could It Be...?

Holy shit! Cathy had sent Jonathan flying with her compliments and seductive ways. That woman was dangerous. So Jonathan chose to escape to his office on the top floor of his mansion.

He could finally breathe freely there. He sat on his throne lamenting what he had experienced as his heartbeat thundered. That was so noisy.

"What's wrong with me? I've never been like this?" Jonathan massaged his throbbing forehead.

Jonathan grew up as a handsome man who had everything. Even so, he didn't feel the need to seek other pleasures by meeting sexy women out there. Maybe he would do that once in a while. Even if it had to do with business. Otherwise, he wouldn't be willing to meet women who are mostly eager to flirt with him for money and a life of luxury.

Jonathan didn't like that.

But Catharina Sophie seemed to have anesthetized him. The red-lipped woman had a lot of appeal. She was also good at touching Jonathan's dark heart. And one more thing, she was crazy. Maybe crazy was one of Jonathan's criteria.

Jonathan chuckled as his cheeks turned red again. He blushed. "Argh! She's adorable."

Knock! Knock!

The sound of a knock on the door instantly extinguished the blush on Jonathan's face. His facial expression instantly turned flat.

"Hm. Come in!" He exclaimed. "What's wrong?" Jonathan asked Jayden.

"I wanted to give you this." Jayden approached, handing him a business card.

Jonathan frowned. "What's this?" He still didn't read it.

"Mr. Luca's business card."

Jonathan, who was lazy, suddenly widened his eyes. He carefully read the business card, Luca.Design.

"So, he's staying here? What for?!" Jonathan panicked.

"He's been staying here for about a week to meet some clients," Jayden explained.

"Where is he staying?"

"We still haven't gotten any info. It looks like Mr. Luca came in secretly. We haven't been able to track him down yet."

Jonathan leaned back in his chair as he weighed things up. He was also starting to worry that Luca would see his wife. Ah, or maybe they had already met? But Jonathan had already tracked his wife's cell phone and there was nothing suspicious.

"Yeah... they probably haven't met yet and they will. Especially if Luca finds out that the patient who received his blood was Cathy," he muttered irritably.

Meanwhile, back in the room, Cathy had finished her breakfast, which was quite heavy. Maybe she had only eaten light food, but the problem was that there was a lot of it. It filled her up.

Cathy walked to the balcony in her room. She sat there and enjoyed the fresh air. It was very relaxing. She also wished that her tranquility could last for a long time.

"Argh!" Cathy grumbled. "That client is going to kill me soon considering he gave me a warning."

"So, all I have to do now is prepare to die," Cathy said, exhaling harshly as she bemoaned her fate. "Do I have to be that desperate?"

Cathy closed her eyes for a moment to neutralize her random thoughts. "I've embarked on such a brave thing. Dying is also a risk in my job. Even before the anonymous client threatened, I already had the same risk."

"But why am I so scared now?" she continued, still confused. "It doesn't feel like the right time to die. Even though it's a risk, but I should be able to counteract it. I'm not an amateur assassin. I can avoid it." Cathy reassured her wavering life.

She pondered on many things in her solitude as the wind blew gently. Presumably, she was convinced not to target Jonathan anymore.

Correction!

Perhaps since they got married, the intention to kill Jonathan was no longer valid. But this time, Cathy strengthened her resolve even more.

"I'm sure that client has something to do with my father," Cathy muttered. "But I can't see him right now. I'm too crazy."

Cathy looked at her scars covered with clothes as she fully replayed what had happened to her. "I have to move at least two days after this."

"Wait!" Cathy widened her eyes as her brain came up with an idea. "Could Cal know about my father?" Cathy picked up her cell phone. Even she winced in pain as she made a slightly more reckless move.

"Argh! I hate this situation." Cathy cursed. "How could I get hurt at the wrong time."

She opened her secret cell phone after locking the balcony door, just in case Jonathan might snatch her phone. Even Cathy also moved to the corner. Just swiping her phone screen, she was stunned. There were tons of messages and missed calls from Luca.

Reflexively, Cathy looked around in various directions even though no one was watching her.

"Why would he call me at this time?"

Instead of blushing like she usually did, Cathy cursed. She pouted. It didn't feel like the right time because she had been driven crazy by her husband lately.

Where are you, dear? Did I miss you?

How's your wound?

Honey? Are you ok?

You don't miss me?

When did you open your phone? Should I come to you? Ask your husband for time.

Cathy gasped. She then chuckled reading all of Luca's messages obsessing over her. "Wow! How could he be that desperate? I asked my husband for time to meet. He's already crazier than me."

But one look seemed to break her focus. The tail of her eye accidentally caught sight of a luxury car pulling out of the driveway. To make sure, Cathy got up from her seat to get a better look.

"Jonathan?"

It wasn't the first time Cathy had encountered her husband's sudden disappearance, but it was infuriating that Jonathan was like that when she was desperate to be by his side. Cathy thought Jonathan would just pull himself together to hide his blushing, but he was gone.

Where would he go?

On business?

Cathy narrowed her eyes as she scavenged for hypotheses as her cell phone rang. She was stunned and then looked at the phone screen. Cathy was dumbfounded when Luca called her, carrying a lot of thoughts as she stared at the direction the car had gone.

Could it be...?
