65. Blushing
It had been four days since Catharina was hospitalized. She was discharged just in time for her mission to kill Jonathan from the anonymous client. Catharina still had concerns but was reluctant to worry about them too much. After all, when she is by Jonathan's side, she feels calmer, though not safe.
Cathy's condition had not improved, so she wanted to focus on her health before facing the anonymous client. Again, she hated the antiseptic smell that continued to tickle her even though Jonathan had minimized it with aroma therapy.
So, returning home was a solution with the condition that she must rest until the injury was free. Jonathan is also on his side because Cathy is always grumbling and noisy, interfering with his investigation of things.
At home, Jonathan blocked any access in or out of the house. He does not let outsiders set foot in his house, even if it is part of the Beltz Family on the pretext of wanting Cathy to recover quickly. However, there was something more important than that.
Jonathan didn't want anyone who potentially hurt Cathy to get inside and cause trouble. If there were family members who wanted to visit and ask how Cathy was doing, Jonathan would only allow them access via video call.
Jonathan let Cathy chat with her parents via video call in the room while he went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast, medicine, and vitamins that his wife needed.
"Let me prepare it, sir!" said the maid. "You can give me the notes Mrs. Catharina needs."
"No!" Jonathan evaded in his flat tone. "I want to prepare it myself. You only need to prepare the rest of the house."
"Yes, sir!" The maid bowed politely. "What would you like for breakfast this time, sir? You could prepare breakfast for Madame Catharina, but she is unable to serve you."
"Later."
"Very well."
Jonathan returned to the room with a tray containing the breakfast menu as well as the medicines to support Catharina's recovery from her illness.
Cathy widened her eyes at the contents of the tray. "You want to open a restaurant?"
"I'm also in charge of the Royal Restaurant in Madrid, didn't you know?"
Cathy folded her legs on the bed as Jonathan arranged the food on the folding table for her.
"I didn't know. Sorry."
"Then you should try my cooking."
Jonathan made three breakfast dishes at once to encourage Cathy. They were all Spanish dishes. After all, they were born and raised in the Land of the Matador.
"Frangollo?!" Cathy blinked.
"Why again? Don't you like it?"
"Hey! It's beautiful." Cathy's face lit up. "You made the perfect owl, honey."
It was rare to hear her tease him even with such a sweet nickname. Jonathan felt like exploding. He, who always looked cold and fierce, suddenly blushed. His firm cheeks were flushed. Cathy had broken his heart with such sweet words and calls.
Frangollo is a food originating from the Canary Islands and is widely consumed by locals as a healthy Spanish breakfast classic. Frangollo is made from millet flour, milk, eggs, sugar, butter, lemon zest, raisins, almonds, and cinnamon. The ingredients used contain many health benefits, such as almonds that can nourish the heart, cinnamon that improves blood circulation, and so on.
Jonathan made the frangula look even more charming and adorable with the owl shape. He even added apple slices as the owl's wings. He also added other grains as eyes. It touched Cathy's heart and made her happy.
"It turns out you have a talent for decorating too?" Cathy still couldn't believe it.
Jonathan acted foolishly. He looked innocent as if he didn't want to hear anything, even though his heart was bursting as he continued to receive praise from the ruthless assassin.
Cathy bit her lower lip for a moment, then pulled her husband's hand away. She looked up. "You're also good at decorating my heart."
Gulp!
Insane! Jonathan was thrown for a loop. He had never felt such a rush of romance even through words. Jonathan was not good at being conquered by anyone.
Although he had wrestled in bed with other women before Cathy, it was all for fun and enjoyment. None of them managed to shake Jonathan's heart. It was the hitman who conquered him, not only in bed but in all situations.
Jonathan's cheeks almost exploded. He hurriedly turned his face away, not wanting Cathy to see his unusual situation as he gently removed her hand from his.
"Eat up! I'm going to take care of some work." Jonathan tried to run away.
"You have to go to the office?" Cathy was shocked.
"No! I need to go to my office." Jonathan walked quickly out of the room, trying not to let his wife see a side of him that Jonathan didn't know.
Cathy just shrugged her shoulders and then refocused on Jonathan's food. She couldn't wait to eat them all because, in the hospital, she had only eaten things that were boring to her, various porridge and such.
Cathy's eyes blinked as she found other food besides Frangollo there. There was her favorite bocadillode huevos. Cathy's mom used to bring her that when she was in school.
Bocadillode huevos is a Spanish-style sandwich. So to make it, you need Spanish bread. But since there was no Spanish bread available in the kitchen, Jonathan replaced it with a similar baguette. It's just that the texture is softer. The sliced bread is then topped with scrambled eggs, chopped tomatoes, parsley, and cheese. Although it looks simple, this breakfast menu is filling and healthy.
"Hm!" Cathy blinked, her mouth seemingly full. "That's delicious. My husband is good."
"I'll think of Mom when I eat this." Cathy stared at the sandwich.
Lastly, there was Huevos rotos, also known as broken eggs, a Spanish egg dish paired with bacon or sliced meat and potatoes. The potatoes used are either boiled potatoes cut into matchsticks or mashed boiled potatoes.
The way to serve it is to put the potatoes at the bottom and then put the egg that has been fried in olive oil and add the bacon slices. This culinary looks unique because the shape of the egg is like a sunny-side-up egg but crumbled.
"He makes it perfectly even though it's called crumbled egg," said Cathy, never fading her beautiful smile. She had gotten the best service.
