Chapter 156 Don’t leave him again

“We need to treat Adrian… I mean, we can’t let him die, right?” Dominic said, looking at Albert with silent tears.

“We’re doing everything we can, but Adrian is the one who doesn’t understand… He refuses to have the surgery,” Albert said angrily.

Jack’s tears rolled down his cheek, and he closed his eyes sadly. “This can’t be… My little brother is slowly dying… and we… we don’t even know it,” Jack said through his tears.

His eyes moved to Alexander, whose tears had also fallen. “What are we going to do if something happens to him?” Jack asked, crying.

“Nothing is going to happen to him. He won’t leave us,” Dominic said nervously.

“He has to have this surgery. We’ll convince him,” Jack said through his tears.

“We’ve been talking to him about this surgery for a long time, but he has lost hope. He doesn’t want it,” Albert said sadly.

“I know someone Adrian will listen to… someone who can bring Adrian’s hope back and get him to have the surgery,” Dominic said, and everyone looked at him.

“Who?” Jack asked strangely.

“Evelyn is the only one who can save him. He’ll listen to her. I know that.”

Everyone started thinking about the idea.

Maru stood there looking at Miran in shock, and Miran sat down crying.

“Why did you do this, Lady Maru? You have no right to do this,” Miran said, crying hard.

Maru looked at her in shock, before looking back at the picture. “This man… don’t tell me… he’s… your first husband!” Maru said in shock.

Miran was confused by her question as she cried. “You don’t know my first husband? I mean, didn’t Adrian tell you?” Miran asked through her tears.

“He never got the chance to tell me or show me his picture. He was a man I had been looking for for a long time… That means he… he died,” Maru said, tears falling as she remembered that kind man.

“What do you mean? How do you know him if Adrian never showed you his picture?” Miran asked strangely.

“Miran… this man helped me a lot before. He was a very kind man… He protected me from the wolves of humanity for years until I got married… I can’t believe it,” Maru said through her tears.

“He gave me shelter and food without asking for anything in return.”

“What? That means you’re… you’re that girl,” Miran said, remembering Maru’s wedding day. She put her hand over her mouth in shock, remembering when her first husband had told her about her.

“You seemed familiar when I saw you, but I never expected this,” Miran said as she looked at her.

Maru looked at the picture while crying. “Yes… you seemed familiar to me too, but I never expected you to be the wife of the man who helped me all this time… More importantly, I never knew he was Adrian’s father… I should have known from the beginning… I can’t believe this… I can’t believe the world is this small,” Maru said through her tears.

Her eyes moved to Miran, who was lost in thought, remembering that day. “But I don’t understand. Why do you have this picture?” Maru asked, looking at her through her tears.

“I just…” Miran said nervously.

“You what?” Maru asked loudly.

“Don’t interfere. It’s better for you,” Miran said, angrily pulling the picture from her hand.

“What was I expecting, anyway? You’re so selfish. My God, I can’t believe this,” Maru said, crying.

“Get out of my room,” Miran said angrily through her tears.

“Damn you,” Maru said through her tears before leaving the room.

Miran collapsed onto the bed, crying. “No one understands me!” Miran cried. “Everyone thinks I’m bad.”

Maru was crying as she walked, remembering Adrian’s father, how he had protected her and given her a home without asking for anything in return. She couldn’t believe it. As she walked, she heard the young men talking about Adrian, and she cried harder. She already knew because Martin had told her.

“I’ll save your son for you, sir… I promise I’ll protect him with my own eyes,” Maru said through her tears.

A call came in, and she answered while wiping her tears. She went out to the garden to get some air. It was her servant, who secretly worked for her. She told him there was no need to look for him anymore. She had always compared him to Adrian, but she thought they only looked alike. She had never thought he was his father, even though he used to talk about him a lot. She didn’t even have a picture.

A short while later, she was talking to someone on the phone when she saw Miran’s figure rush out of the palace. She didn’t understand why she was running like that, so she followed her.

“Miran, stop!” Maru called, and Miran stopped running.

“Where are you going at this hour?” Maru asked strangely.

Miran turned toward her, crying. “Lady Maru, thank the goddess I found you. I was looking for you,” Miran said as she walked toward her.

Maru was confused. She had just argued with her.

“Lady Maru, thank you so much for taking care of Adrian,” Miran said, looking at her sincerely. “My husband and I will always be grateful to you.”

Maru’s eyes filled with tears, and her heart began beating fast with fear. “Why are you talking like this? What’s wrong? Why were you looking for me?” Maru asked, avoiding her gaze. She was still angry with her.

Miran suddenly hugged her, shocking her.

“Thank you, truly… I’m going now, Lady Maru. Take better care of Adrian… and tell him I won’t be in his life anymore,” Miran said through her tears.

Maru was deeply confused by her words. She pulled away from the hug and looked at her strangely. Miran was only smiling.

“What are you talking about? Adrian loves you. He’s just angry with you. Don’t leave him again. He needs you,” Maru said through her tears, taking her hand. Miran smiled at her.

“I’m sorry, but I have to,” Miran said through her tears.

She opened Maru’s hand and placed a small chip inside it. Maru looked at her hand strangely.

“What is this?” Maru asked through her tears.

“When the right time comes, give it to Adrian so he can know everything… Please don’t tell him anything now,” Miran said through her tears.

Maru shook her head. “No, you have to tell him this face-to-face,” Maru said through her tears.

“Please, Lady Maru, understand me. I have to go now. Marcus’s life is in danger,” Miran said through her tears, looking at the palace as she smiled and cried.

“What? Marcus? Why is he in danger?” Maru asked strangely.

“He threatened me. If I don’t go, Kai will kill Marcus and kill himself afterward,” Miran said, crying.

Maru was deeply shocked. “Don’t go. Let’s tell Adrian… He’ll help you, I’m sure. I can’t let you go,” Maru said through her tears and trembling.

“No, I have to protect Adrian from Kai. Maru… he shouldn’t have to face someone like him… Adrian has suffered so much. It’s time for him to rest. I know he’s obsessed with revenge. I know Kai better than I know myself. He’ll kill him now that he has lost everything… Kai is the kind of person who would rather die than go to prison… I know he won’t hesitate to kill Adrian just to get revenge on me… In any case, he knows everything now… and it’s time for it to end… Marcus is innocent. What if he hurts him too?” Miran said absently, tears running down her face.

Maru looked at her. “Then why did you do all of that? Why did you pretend with us? Why did you pretend that you didn’t care about Adrian?” Maru asked through her tears.
