Chapter 152 You Have to Respect the Rules of This House...!
Maru
I look at Evelyn’s limp body in Adrian’s arms, and I feel my heart stop for a moment. Adrian holds her as if she is the most precious thing he owns, his hands trembling as he calls her in a voice hoarse with crying. “Evelyn... Evelyn, open your eyes!”
He starts gently slapping her cheek, once, twice, but she does not respond. No movement, not even a flutter of her eyelids.
“There’s no time, ma’am. The helicopter is waiting for us. We have to go now!” Alexander shouts in a sharp voice that cuts through the silence of the moment.
I look at him with tear-filled eyes, looking around me quickly. “What about Miran...?”
“I’ll send a guard to bring her... damn it!” Alexander curses as he runs toward the helicopter with Evelyn in his arms, his face twisted with worry that seems to include Adrian as well.
I climb in behind them quickly. The guards come carrying Adrian, motionless. I run toward him, my heart beating insanely fast. “What’s wrong with Adrian? Please check him!”
Alexander places Evelyn in her seat, moving toward me quickly to examine Adrian. He checks his pulse, listens to his heartbeat, and puts his hand on his forehead to check his temperature.
“He’s fine. He just passed out from the shock,” Alexander announces with relief.
I breathe deeply, as if a mountain has been lifted from my chest. For a few moments, all I could think about was that Adrian might have...
Before I can finish the thought, I hear a familiar voice outside. The guard returns carrying Miran over his shoulder, running as fast as he can. Alexander looks at him in confusion.
“What is going on here?”
“I’m sorry, sir, but she didn’t want to come, so I just carried her...” the guard pants.
“Put me down, you fat man!” Miran screams angrily, hitting the guard’s back hard. He puts her down at once and bows to her apologetically.
“Do you think you can kidnap me from my own home? You’re going to pay dearly for this!”
I watch the scene in shock. The helicopter is not working yet. It is parked in the middle of the beach. Alexander rolls his eyes in annoyance, while I look at Miran for the first time. There is something familiar about her, something strangely pulling me toward her, as if I have seen her somewhere before, but I cannot remember where.
“Mrs. Miran, please get in. We don’t have time!” Alexander shouts, clear worry in his voice.
Miran looks at him sarcastically. “What? Do I know you? Do you want a ransom or something?”
She stops when her eyes meet mine, looking beside me and finding Adrian unconscious. Her eyes widen again, as if something inside her has broken. She jumps into the helicopter without thinking, running straight toward him.
“What did you do to him? Adrian!!! My son...” She touches his face with trembling hands. “Adrian... my son...”
She checks his body, noticing that his chest is bare and there are no visible injuries except for a slight bleeding from his nose. Alexander looks at her in confusion, and so do I. He turns toward the guard.
“We have to go now!”
“Yes, sir!”
“Wait, where are you taking us?” Miran asks, her voice betraying her fear.
“Sit down and put on your seat belt, please...!” Alexander shouts.
Miran looks at him before sitting down, completely confused by what is happening. I look at her with a gentle smile, feeling a strange urge to break the ice between us.
“I’ve finally met you, Mrs. Miran.”
Miran looks at me from the corner of her eye with clear arrogance, pushing her hair behind her ear with affectation.
“And who are you?” she asks sarcastically.
“You’ll find out soon!”
I look ahead and find Evelyn unconscious as well. Miran follows my gaze, her eyes widening again.
“Oh my God, Evelyn...” she whispers with deep concern. “What the hell is going on here!?”
“Why? Are you worried about Evelyn?”
Miran looks at me and whispers, “I still don’t know who you are!”
I smile as I look at Adrian sleeping beside me. “I’m Adrian’s mother... Lady Maroshine. You can call me Maru.”
Miran looks at me in shock, then laughs sarcastically and sits in her place. “What? His mother? How can you be his mother, you... Are you crazy or what?”
“Oh my God, why don’t you all shut up?” Alexander shouts in alarm. “I’m worried... and nervous... Evelyn’s condition is very serious, and you’re talking nonsense!”
Everyone falls silent, and Alexander starts giving Evelyn first aid. The wound is clearly visible because of her torn clothes. Alexander notices it, becomes embarrassed, and looks away.
“Oh my God, what kind of clothes is she wearing?” he mutters shyly.
Miran notices his looks and suddenly thinks he is harassing her.
“What are you looking at, yooou!” she screams, pushing him hard enough to make him stand.
Alexander looks at her in shock. “Yooou, what’s your problem?”
“You’re practically eating her with your eyes! Listen to me carefully, that counts as harassment, you idiot!” she shouts angrily.
“What? Harassment? You’re talking nonsense now!” he replies in shock.
I watch the situation silently, watching Miran’s behavior. How can she defend Evelyn like this? Didn’t she hate her? There is something strange about their relationship, something I do not understand yet, but I know I will discover it soon.
“I didn’t do anything, Mrs. Miran. You misunderstood the situation. I was just distracted!” Alexander tries to calm her.
“Yes, I’ll believe you... So where are we going? You’ll pay for what you did tonight... My husband will never forgive you!” she threatens angrily.
“Your husband left with his son and left you sleeping at home, Mrs. Miran,” I say coldly. I want to see her reaction. I want to know how much she knows and what she is hiding.
Miran looks at me in shock. “What???"
“Yes, your husband’s son discovered everything, and so did Evelyn.”
“But... I don’t believe you,” she says in a trembling voice.
“Mrs. Miran, we’re telling the truth. Can’t you see the situation?” Alexander intervenes.
Miran becomes very tense, and I only watch her movements. She sits quietly, but her eyes are lost in thought.
“But what did they discover!?” she whispers.
“You’ll find out later,” I reply calmly, leaving her drowning in her questions.
A long time passes as we fly through the sky. Now we are in New York, and we have finally arrived at the family home in the outskirts of the city. Alexander calls Jack and asks him to prepare everything in the house. He does not want to go to the hospital, and he does not want the exhausting legal procedures.
Jack and everyone else are waiting for us in the backyard, where the helicopter lands on the green grass. Alexander gets out carrying Evelyn on the stretcher.
“Alexander, what’s going on?” Jack asks worriedly.
“I don’t have time, Jack. I’ll tell you later!” he replies anxiously, hurrying inside with her.
“Adrian!” Dominic cries worriedly when he sees the guards carrying him and placing him on the stretcher. He moves toward him quickly. “What’s going on, Lady Maru? What happened to Adrian?”
“Don’t worry, Dominic. He’s fine. He just lost consciousness from the shock!” I smile to reassure him.
Dominic sighs in relief, some calm returning to his face.
“What are you doing here?” Jack asks angrily when he sees Miran looking at the mansion with surprise and admiration.
“Wow...” Miran whispers in amazement, her eyes wandering around the luxurious mansion.
“Hey... I’m talking to you!” Jack insists.
Miran looks at him and arrogantly pushes her loose hair back over her shoulder. “Believe me, I have no idea... but I like the place!”
Jack rolls his eyes in annoyance, and I can almost hear his inner groan.
“Great, now we have to put up with her or what?” Dominic mocks.
Miran looks at him. “And who are you, shorty?”
“I’m not short, you giraffe!” he shouts angrily.
Miran rolls her eyes sarcastically, as if she enjoys annoying him.
“Calm down... don’t get angry,” Martin says quietly, stepping in to calm Dominic.
Dominic falls silent but keeps staring at her sharply, his eyes glowing with restrained anger.
“Who are you people?” Miran asks, looking at me. “This woman says she’s Adrian’s mother. I don’t understand!”
The guards take Adrian inside toward his room, and Albert goes with them. He also knows medicine, not just psychiatry!
I stay outside looking at her while Miran crosses her arms arrogantly and looks at me defiantly.
“You can ask Adrian when he wakes up...!” I tell her, watching her facial expressions carefully.
“Hmm... I will, Lady Maru, I will. Now, where is my room? I want to rest!” She looks at her nail polish and gasps dramatically. “Because of you, I ruined my nail polish. It was expensive...”
“Oh my God, what is this woman...?” Jehope mutters, shaking his head in confusion.
Jack holds his head in pain. “My head... Do you really want to rest in a situation like this?”
Miran looks at him coldly. “What do you want me to do? Cry, for example?”
Jack is about to speak, but I interrupt him. “It’s okay, son... We’ll take care of her. She’s our guest after all!”
Jack falls silent out of respect for me, although I can see in his eyes that he wishes I had not said that.
I walk toward Miran, placing my hands behind my back, moving toward her elegantly. “The guards will show you to your room... Mrs. Miran, but you have to respect the rules of this house...! And its people too!”
