Chapter 151 Evelyn, Open Your Eyes
Chapter 151 Evelyn, Open Your Eyes
Adrian
“Please, God, don’t punish me with Evelyn!” I muttered in a hoarse voice, crying.
I carefully placed her on the ground, and her hand fell helplessly onto the soft sand. I stared at her hand in shock, then held it and kissed it as I cried bitterly. I moved closer to her face, images of her laughter and all our memories together passing before my eyes, making me cry harder. She trusted me. She loved me.
“My sky... please, I’m nothing without you. Open your eyes, scream at me, punish me, just don’t go. I need you... I need you beside me. Please wake up. Let’s go home. I won’t hurt Marcus, I won’t... just don’t leave me, please. Adrian is begging you to open your eyes. I won’t hurt him, I promise you. Just wake up, please.”
Evelyn’s eyes remained closed. I looked at her and broke down crying, my sobs growing louder.
“Don’t go... my love...”
I whispered in a broken, trembling voice, covering her face with my shaking hands.
“Open those doe eyes of yours, please.”
But there was no answer.
“Don’t leave me. I’m nothing without you... Evelyn, open your eyes... call an ambulance!”
I screamed and cried at the same time, looking at the people around me who were staring at me and whispering about what had happened.
“Please, my love... open your eyes... look at me with those beautiful eyes... look at me.”
I muttered through my hard crying and gasps, touching her hair and face. I remembered our first meeting. I was calling her, but she wasn’t responding, so I lightly slapped her face while looking at her calm features. I remembered the first moment we shared, the gentle sound of her laughter still echoing in my ears, and her confession of love to me as if it had been a final goodbye.
Everyone was staring at us in shock, trying to understand what had happened to us. Some had already called an ambulance, but no one came closer.
“Open your eyes, Evelyn... please. I found you after searching for so long. How can you leave me? I haven’t had enough of you yet.”
I said through my tears, holding her head and pulling her against my chest as I screamed loudly. I was like a little child crying for his mother. I didn’t care about my dignity or the people around me. I looked at the sky while she was in my arms, feeling a burning pain in my heart. I closed my eyes and screamed her name desperately, crying loudly with her head resting in my lap.
“You can’t leave me... I won’t let you. I’ll join you... I won’t be able to live without you, my sky. You’re my woman and my other half. You’re my life and my heart. If you go, what will I have left?! What will I have left? I don’t want anything but you. I want you.”
I looked at her as my tears fell onto her cheek, touching her face with my trembling hands as I whispered weakly.
“This is all because of me... this happened because of me.”
She was like a corpse, giving no answer and making no movement while I cried loudly.
“Evelyn... answer me. Don’t go... please, I’m begging you. Fine, we’ll fight, yes, and you can do whatever you want. You can annoy me if you want, and I’ll keep asking you to forgive me. I’ll do only what you love... just don’t go.”
I looked at her features, her long eyelashes, her lips, her nose, her cheeks, the childish features I had admired since the first time I saw her.
A strong wind blew, making me close my eyes as the sand flew everywhere, and I heard a powerful sound. A helicopter landed, and someone got out of it calling for me.
“Adrian! I came, I came! I’m here!”
Alexander said nervously. I looked at him, and my mother was with him. A sharp dizziness hit me. I didn’t know how Alexander had gotten here, nor how my mother, Marwa, had come, or if I was hallucinating. Alexander ran to Evelyn and checked the pulse on her neck. There was a pulse, and he felt relieved.
“My son, what’s wrong?”
Marwa asked worriedly. I was breathing quickly, my nose bleeding heavily, and my chest hurting badly.
“Mom... please help Evelyn...”
I said while crying, breathing quickly and with difficulty. Alexander carried her, and several guards came to help me and Marwa.
“She’ll be okay, my son.”
She said through her tears.
“Wait... Mrs. Miran is still at the house!”
I said with great difficulty, looking at Alexander. He nodded in agreement, but angrily.
“Is she at the house?”
Marwa asked strangely. I looked at her and whispered with extreme weakness.
“Mom... please don’t be upset with me! But we have to take her with us.”
I passed out right after that.
