Chapter 105 Chapter 105
Chapter 105 Chapter 105
Ava's POV
It's been five years since I last saw Celine. After Martin and I got arrested, I felt guilty, wondering what had happened to Celine.
We tried to reach out to the police to know if they found any update on Celine's whereabouts, but none.
Seeing someone who resembles her, even though Celine had added weight.
When I saw the beautiful woman, wearing a green dress, my heart skipped a beat, but as soon as I saw her face, she hurriedly walked away with her son, and I was stunned that Celine had a child.
"Isn't she Celine? Celine?" I called her name, and she paused. However, she didn't look back and continued walking away, but I couldn't give up yet.
I felt bad every day that I betrayed my friendship with her. I believe that I owed Celine an apology, but she spared me no glance at all.
She was still beautiful, radiant, and sparkling like Clara.
Even as she walked away quickly with her son, several heads turned to look at her, admiring her as they felt like they had seen a reality superstar.
"Celine! Celine! Come on, Rose! Walk fast!" I told my daughter and scooped her into my arm as I chased after Celine.
"Celine!" I called again, and some passerby helped me to stop her, just before she got into her sleek red car.
Celine first helped her son to get in. I thanked the older woman who had helped me to get Celine to stop.
"Excuse me, who are you?" Celine asked, her gaze cold and sending chills down my spine.
"Are you Celine? It's me, Ava?" I tried to create a familiarity, and I wrapped her into a warm hug.
Her usual scent enveloped me. It was her. It was Celine. But she stepped away and denied it.
"I am sorry, but I am not Celine."
"Celine, it's me, Ava. Don't you remember? I know that I wronged you then. Please, I am sorry. I truly missed you and our friendship," I tried to make her remember me. She was still the one, my best friend from university. I hadn't been able to be myself, remembering that I snatched my best friend's boyfriend.
What will I tell my daughter about myself when she grows up and asks me how I met her father?
"I am sorry, Miss. Maybe you got the wrong woman. I am not Celine, and I don't know you from anywhere. Please, excuse me," Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched Celine walk away from me.
She spoke to me coldly, her words slicing my heart like a sharp knife.
I watched her attempt to get into her car, and she didn't spare me a single glance as Martin chased after her.
She denied knowing Martin too.
"Is that really Celine? She looks so much like her? Is she the one? Should we contact Jace Augustus or Clara and let them know that we found someone who looked like Celine?" Martin asked, but I firmly shook my head.
"No. We are not sure that she is the one, and we don't know where she lives. I assume she doesn't want any of us to know of her again. But she is the one, and I just feel like I owe her an apology," I said, my eyes filled with tears that leaked down my cheek.
"Mom, do you know that woman? That boy looks so familiar," Rose spoke on my hand, and I looked at my daughter's face.
Though we reside here in Banana Island, and that's because Jace got a construction project here and is helping his best friend, Edwin, to build his hotel. My husband had some other construction projects here, and we came to reside here for a while, going to six months.
"You know the boy?" I asked my daughter in shock, and she nodded.
"Yes. He is Kaleb Mason. He is in my class."
"What?!" Martin and I exclaimed.
"So, she is really Celine. But why did she act so cold to us? It's been five years. If Celine is the mother of that child, is it possible that she and Clara both got pregnant by Jace? Martin, I think it's best we don't tell the Augustus anything and let them find out on their own," I told my husband, and though he appeared conflicted, and he missed Celine. She was his first love. I saw that look of sadness in his eyes.
Celine had broken off with Martin in the toughest way. And though he was nice to me and doing his responsibility as a good father, he doesn't love me as much as he loved and doted on Celine.
Seeing that look of longing in his sad eyes, he glanced away from me and nodded. "You're right. Let's not get them involved."
"Have you finished the grocery shopping?" Martin asked, changing the topic, and I nodded.
"Yeah. I am almost done, remains to get the vegetables. You stay with Rose, I am coming," I gave my daughter to Martin, and I went to the store to get the vegetable leaves for our dinner.
I intended to cook for us, instead of ordering takeout, and now I run into Celine.
Thoughts of meeting Celine again crossed my mind, and I pondered if I should visit Rose's new school to meet Celine.
"No." I shook my head and went to the vegetable sellers, as I was having issues getting pregnant after my daughter.
I know that Martin and I don't truly love each other, and if I hadn't seduced him and gone to meet him. We wouldn't have gotten married.
Sighing, I completed my purchases, paid for it, and walked out of the store to join my husband and my daughter in the car.
As we got into the car, we drove back to the estate where we resided.
As Martin arrived at the estate, he drove his car into the road that led down to the house we lived in.
It was a rented apartment. As we arrived at the building, he drove in and parked.
"Ava, I don't want you worrying about Celine and thinking maybe I will get back with her. You saw it clearly that she doesn't want me. Besides, we are married now, and it has been five years," Martin said, and I nodded, as I sat in the rear of the car.
"Okay. It's fine," I replied, though I was uneasy, feeling maybe Martin would go after Celine again.
But after hearing his assurance, I felt better and held the door to open. I got out of the car, assisted my daughter from her safety seat, then we went into the house together.
We were living on the second floor, as it gave us a perfect view of the estate too.
Though Martin didn't purchase the house, it was on rental, depending on how long we wanted to stay in this city.
