Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Six

Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Six
Rose

I finish up my last signing for now. It has been my biggest yet. The crowd was something else, but everyone was so nice. It has been a great afternoon, but what I am most eager to see is my parents. I had no idea they were coming. Though they left when I finished my reading, which I understand. I wouldn’t want my parents to hear that. But they stayed for the rest of the signing and even bought a copy of my book to have signed. They didn’t need to, I would have given them one. I say goodbye to everyone and rush over to where my parents, Jayce, and everyone else are.

“Mom, Dad.” I gush, hugging them both tightly.

“Hey, sweetheart. I am so proud of you,” my mom gushes, hugging back.

“Me too…” my dad adds in.

“Thank you. I can’t believe you are both here. It is so good to see you both. I missed you.” I say, trying not to cry, happy tears, of course.

“We missed you, too.”

Once I had greeted my parents, I greeted everyone else. I had no idea they were all coming either. Jayce was good at acting as if he were the only one there. It was amazing to have them here for my last signing in the state.

I greet Jayce with a kiss. Today has been my favourite signing not only because it was so busy, but also because everyone I care about was here.

“Come on, I will treat everyone to lunch to celebrate.” Jayce smiles, offering his hand to me.

“Will we get a table for so many of us?” my mom laughs.

“Yes, we will. We always do, and I don’t mean for that to sound arrogant.” Tanner chuckles.

It is the truth. Any of them can get anything, anywhere, because of who they are. We all pile out of the bookstore, heading to find a restaurant to eat at.

“How long are you both here?” I ask my parents.

“We are here for a week.” My mom smiles.
“Great! I thought it would have been a couple of days. Maybe we can go dress shopping while you are here?”

“Yes! Let’s do that!” she replies, excited.

It is something I haven’t gotten around to doing yet. I want my mom to be there, so now would be perfect.

“I will transfer the money to you tomorrow.” My dad smiles.

“Thank you.”

There is no chance I will spend ten thousand on a dress. Whatever I don’t spend, I will send back to my father. I don’t want him to be put out. I will need to call Jayce’s mom and see if she wants to come too. We can all make a girl’s day of it. Breakfast, dress shipping and then maybe some space treatments or dinner and drinks. I really hope I find the dress that I want, one I will instantly fall in love with. I have plenty of time to find one.

We arrive at the restaurant, and once Jayce gives his name, they realise that all the brothers are here, so they rush to put tables together for everyone to sit. I laugh and shake my head. It is always the same.

Jayce rests his hand on the small of my back. “It will be the same for you once we are married. The second you use my name, well, our name, you will be seen to quickly.”

I playfully roll my eyes. “Oh, how good life must be getting what you want all of the time.” I tease.

“You get what you want all of the time,” he chuckles.

“Yes, from you, but not every other person I cross paths with.”

“What can I say, I am an important man.” He winks.

I laugh, shaking my head. He sounds so arrogant, even though he is only joking. Everyone takes their seats, Jayce ordering a couple of bottles of champagne for the table to celebrate. I couldn’t think of a better bunch of people to celebrate with.

It is after midnight when Jayce and I arrive home. The celebration from the afternoon ran into the night, but it has been a great day with everyone I love. We are going dress shopping on Saturday. Jayce’s mom will be joining us.

“How long have you known my parents would be in town?” I ask as we head inside.

“A couple of weeks. I arranged it because I know you missed them.”

“Thank you, you are the best, Jayce. I can’t wait to go dress shopping on Saturday.”

“I can’t wait to see you in it. I know you are going to be beautiful in whichever one you choose.”

I still haven’t decided on a style. All I know is I don’t want anything back, puffy. I want something more elegant and maybe lace. Nothing too fancy and expensive.

“When are you going tux shopping?”

“I am not sure. I will need to arrange with my brothers. Is there any specific colour you would like me to wear?”

I smirk. “A kilt.”

“What? I am not Scottish.” He chuckles.

“But we will be getting married in Scotland.” I giggle.

“I respect anyone who wears them, but I don’t think they are for me.”

I laugh loudly. “I am only messing. You can wear whatever colour you like, my love. All that matters to me is you will be standing there waiting for me when I walk down the aisle.”

“I will be there, smiling and possibly crying.”

“Me too. I will make sure I have waterproof make-up on.”

There will definitely be tears. Happy tears, of course. My parents are going to be sobbing.

We go straight to our room, strip down, and get ready for bed. We have a busy day tomorrow. We have some video calls with the venue and need to get our invitations sorted out before it gets any later. Not like there will be many people, which I am so glad for because too many people is not what I wanted. If it would break my parents’ hearts, I would have eloped with Jayce. I wouldn’t do that to them. I would never forgive myself. I will be happy with everyone there who means something to us, and not a bunch of random people like Jayce’s mother wanted. It will be the perfect day, I know it.
