Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven
Chapter Two Hundred and Twenty-Seven
Rose
We are all buzzing as we pile into the bridal shop after a girly morning of breakfast and a little shopping, but now it is time to find my dress. The store is only ours for the next few hours thanks to Jayce’s mother. She got us a private appointment so we wouldn’t be bothered, and I could take my time finding a dress. I am not the only one looking for my dress. We are going to try to find my bridesmaid dresses too. My mother and Jayce’s are looking too. I will pay for the bridesmaid’s dresses from the money I have made so far for my book. Jayce sent me money too for our mother’s outfits, so they don’t need to buy them. They don’t know this yet, and I won’t tell them until it is time to pay.
We are greeted quickly by the store owner, who seems to know Jayce’s mom.
“Hello, everyone, I have been told we are looking for dresses today. Which one is the bride-to-be?”
I step forward, “That will be me.” I beam.
“You must be Rose. I have heard a lot about you from Mrs Blakely. I am Demi, and I will be taking care of the bridal party today.”
I smile. “All good, I hope?” I laugh.
If it were six months ago, then it wouldn’t be, but that is then; this is now. Things are different, things are good.
“Yes, all good. So where do you want to stare? Your dress, your bridesmaid dress, or your mother’s outfits?”
“Can we start with bridesmaids’ dresses first? We are looking for either baby blue, red or purple, something pretty.”
I would never dream of making them wear horrible dresses as some brides do. I have never understood that. I understand it is the bride’s special day, but the people you choose as bridesmaids are special to you, so they have the right to look beautiful and be comfortable in what they are wearing, too.
“Okay. I will go and see what I can find. Please, all take a seat, and my colleague will bring you some champagne.”
We thank Demi, and we all settle into the fancy white leather sofa.
“Champagne ladies? I am Jisoo.”
We all say hello and yes to the champagne. It is all very fancy and exclusive.
“Rose, are you sure you don’t want to find your dress first?” Remi asks.
“No, it is fine. I would rather get everyone else sorted first and then take my time to find my dress.”
Jisoo nods and disappears again once she hands the champagne out. A text comes through to my cell as we wait for Demi to return. I take it out, seeing it is from Jayce.
I hope you find the perfect dress, pretty eyes. If you need any more money, please let me know. My dad, your dad, my brothers and I are all going to do something, what we don’t know yet, make a day of it. You may be back before. I will see you later. I love you xx
I am sure I have more than enough money, my love, but thank you. Enjoy the day with everyone. I love you too xx
I put my cell away. I smile, glad he is getting time with the guys. I am sure they will find something to do like something to do with sports, steaks, or a casino. Guy things. I will enjoy my day with all the women in my life. I couldn’t wait to see everyone trying on their dresses. Everyone will look amazing in anything they try on.
I have tried five different wedding dresses on, yet none of them have felt right. I haven’t fallen instantly in love with them. I am stressing out. Everyone else has what they need but me. I have been hiding out in the dressing room, trying to pull it together before I go back out and look at some more dresses. Why is this so hard? The dresses I have tried on have been beautiful, but just not what I wanted.
“Rose, sweetie, can I come in?” Remi asks, knocking on the door.
I sigh, unlock it and push it open, motioning her to come in. “Why is this so hard? You found your dress so easily, Remi. What am I doing wrong? Is part of me not ready for this?” I ramble.
She crouches before me and takes my hand. “Rose, you are more than ready for this. You want the perfect dress for your perfect day, and there is nothing wrong with that. You will find it. Stop having doubts, sweetie. It is a stressful time, but it will be worth it in the end. I spotted a dress you may like. Can I bring it in for you?”
“I am stressed, but I can’t wait to marry him. Yes, please bring it in.”
Remi and I have very different tastes, but she knows what I like. She smiles and exits the changing room. I am curious what she will bring in for me. A few minutes later, she returns, and the dress in her hand makes me instantly smile. It is a beautiful A-line silhouette lace dress with long sleeves and a V-neck. It has a small trail, nothing too much, and the shape of it looks like it would curve my hips perfectly.
“What do you think?”
“It is beautiful. I love it. I didn’t imagine myself in a dress with long sleeves, but I really love it.” I gush.
The sleeves are thin, lacy, and transparent, so I won’t be too warm in it.
“You will look amazing in it. You should try it on.”
Remi helps me get into it since the zipper is at the back. It feels good. I feel comfortable in it. It is a perfect fit. I turn to her. “What do you think?”
Remi looks me over, and I see tears in her eyes. “It is perfect. You look so beautiful in it, Rose.”
“I do?” I ask.
“Yes, come on, take a look in the full-sized mirror outside.”
Remi takes my hand, leading me out to the mirror. I stand in front of it, instantly falling in love with it. “Remi, it is perfect. It is exactly what I have been looking for.” I whimper.
It hugs me perfectly, showing off my figure. It isn’t too low-cut at the front, either.
Remi stands behind me, smiling brightly. “I think you have found your dress. What do you think?”
“I think I have too. Thank you.” I gush and turn around to hug her.
“It is what I am here for, babe. Should we go and show everyone else?”
I nod, and we head through. All eyes were soon on me, and everyone had the same reaction as Remi. Eyes wide, bright smiles and tears in their eyes.
“Rose, it is so beautiful. You look so beautiful in it,” Mom sobs.
“I think I have found my dress, eventually.”
Everyone agrees and tells me how beautiful it is. It is the first one that felt right the second I slipped into it. I couldn’t wait to wear it on my wedding. I will keep it at Remi’s place, so Jayce doesn’t see it. I am happy to have found it because I was honestly due to give up today and try another day.
