Chapter 85 Holland's a Bit Shy

wo days later, Calvin Ross's birthday party was held at the Golden Bright Grand Hotel. The Ross family booked the entire place and even prepared rest rooms on the second floor for each guest. During the banquet, if guests needed to touch up their makeup, clean up, or change clothes, they could do so in their separate rooms.

A total of a hundred tables were prepared for the banquet, each at a standard of twenty grand a pop, with drinks billed separately. All the red wines were collector's editions, looking pretty pricey. The banquet hall was decked out in grand style!

Calvin and his wife were dressed to the nines. They welcomed wave after wave of guests, all the male guests gravitating towards Dalvin, hoping to get to know Holland through him.

"Dalvin, how many times can you do it in one night? The ads at the club make it sound so over the top."

"Are you really cured? How long did it take with the meds?"

"Give me Holland's WhatsApp account. We're bros, right? You're close to her. Put in a good word for me."

All men wanted to be studded in bed. Even those without any issues want to be a bit more potent.

Dalvin looked around arrogantly and said, "Let's talk about that another time. Tonight's my dad's 50th birthday party."

He then headed towards the hotel entrance.

He poked his head out, asking, "Why hasn't Covington arrived yet?"

"You should call him Mr. Drake!" Calvin said with a friendly smile, clapping him on the shoulder.

"Dalvin said, "Covington and I are good friends, so there is no need for formalities."

"Listen to this," Calvin feigned annoyance, telling Clementine, "Your son thinks he's the bee's knees now!"

Clementine proudly replied, "Our son has a keen eye. Back then, when so many people looked down on Covington, it was Dalvin who spoke up for him. The guests who came today praised us for our foresight, saying we have great wisdom!" She was also quite proud.

Calvin laughed heartily, saying, "You guys just lucked out!"

His business had also been doing better, with several recent projects in collaboration with Covington turning a profit—all thanks to Covington's increasingly successful development.

Clementine spotted two cars pulling over at the entrance out of the corner of her eye. She nudged Calvin's arm, alerting him, "Calvin, the Evans Family, and the Drakes' Family have arrived at the same time."

What a coincidence.

"Juniper actually came." Clementine frowned slightly, and she had only sent an invitation out of politeness. If Juniper had any self-respect, he wouldn't have shown up.

"As long as they're here, they're our guests," Calvin said, smiling as he went to greet them.

At the entrance of the Golden Bright Grand Hotel, a Rolls Royce and a Porsche Cayenne pulled up face to face.

Poppy was all dolled up, wearing a silver-grey lace dress with see-through lace on the back and shoulders. The flouncy skirt revealed her slender thighs. She was made to look seductively exquisite, like a sexy bombshell.

Juniper, in a suit, stood beside her. Father and daughter were in attendance, while Aurora was nowhere to be seen.

In contrast, Covington and Holland, one in a suit and the other in a light pink gown were much more low-key. When Poppy saw Covington, her eyes were filled with infatuation. When she looked at Holland, her heart was filled with resentment. It was this woman who stole her man. Even if Holland was a highly skilled doctor, it couldn't change her humble origins! Their family didn't need her medical services!

The person standing next to Covington should be her, Poppy Evans!

"Mr. Drake, long time no see." Juniper went over to greet him. As a businessman, he always put "interests" first.

"Mr. Evans looks rosy and healthy. Having a son at such an age is indeed something to be happy about." Covington said with a faint smile.

Juniper, teased by his comment, awkwardly said, "It's not a big deal."

Holland looked at him curiously. He had a son, and it definitely wasn't Aurora's. So, he must have had an illegitimate child. She wondered what Aurora must be feeling now. She was looking everywhere for ways to improve her health, and here Juniper was, having a child with someone else.

"Mr. Drake! Mr. Evans!" Calvin came jogging over and said, "Two esteemed guests, please come in."

His arrival broke the stalemate.

"After you!" Juniper let Covington go first.

"Mr. Evans, please!" Covington responded politely. He always kept his hand wrapped around Holland's wrist, the two walking side by side.

Poppy followed them, her eyes seductively sweeping over Covington's back. This man was definitely hers tonight.

They all entered the grand banquet hall together.

"Mr. Drake!"

"Mr. Drake!"

"Holland, you rarely appear at such events. You're too low-profile."

As soon as Covington and Holland appeared, they were surrounded. One was the president of SkyOrigin Corporation, and the other was a highly skilled doctor. Everyone wanted to seize the opportunity to build a good relationship.

Holland had never encountered such a situation, and she was very uncomfortable hearing all the exaggerated compliments. Her cheeks were flushed.

Covington noticed and pulled her closer as if deliberately shielding her.

"Please don't crowd her. She's a bit shy." Covington nearly hugged half of her body, and everyone quickly backed off after hearing this.

Covington and Holland's seats were at the head table, which showed how much the Ross family valued them. Meanwhile, Juniper and Poppy were seated at other tables, Poppy's gaze almost burning a hole in Holland's back.

"Get a grip!" Juniper warned in a low voice, "Look at where we are."

"I..." Poppy snorted unwillingly. She was just jealous of Holland's good fortune.

Juniper reminded her, "Tonight, I've picked out a few suitable husband candidates for you, and their families are also interested. You'll have a chance to chat and foster feelings. When the time comes, see who you like best and settle down."

Juniper wanted to marry Poppy off as soon as possible. He had been very busy these past few days. He went directly to the Drakes' Family to break off Poppy and Ramsey's engagement. Morgan agreed, but Daphne said a lot of nasty things. Ramsey was now a drunk, a total waste.

"Okay." Poppy agreed outwardly, but inwardly, she sneered. Who at this banquet could compare to Covington?

"Dad, I'm going to the restroom." Poppy stood up.

"Alright."

Juniper was busy networking with the bosses at the same table, so he didn't pay much attention. He had suffered heavy losses in the recent internal strife in the Drakes Family. Juniper now had to lower his stance and curry favor with the new money he used to look down upon.

Poppy, clutching her handbag, made her way to the outdoor garden. The night was dark, and the street lights dim. As she walked down the garden path, she saw a young man in a tailcoat with an upright figure.

"Is that you?" She approached and asked.

"Miss Evans." The man greeted her respectfully.

Poppy looked him up and down, then smiled, satisfied.
