Chapter 15
Scarlett
I was sitting on the edge of the bed and was in a trance when the door swung open and a beautiful girl came in. He had striking features and looked like a fairy in his lavender-coloured dress. Her eyes were blue and her hair was blond. Her skin was fair and gave her the look of a princess.
" Hi," she said, peeking her head inside the room.
Looking at her, I didn't respond. I am the only girl here who has been bought. And it's not like I am preventing anyone from coming into the rooms of their own house.
When I didn't say anything for a long time, she opened the door wide and went in, closing the door behind her.
" I know I shouldn't have disturbed you, but like I said, I could meet you," she said, rubbing the back of her neck nervously.
" I am an aurora," she said, enthusiastically.
" Scarlett," I said.
" I know. I heard your name during the….. she trailed off. I knew what she meant.
" May I take a seat?" She asked, pointing at the empty spot beside me.
" Yes,* I said.
" Thank you."
" I am sorry for what you have gone through. Nobody deserves that kind of treatment," she said. I turned my head to look at her and there was concern and sadness in her eyes.
" Not when the person is a sl*t," I stated, emphasising the word.
" Oh dear, my mother will take care of him for that," she said.
" Your mother?" I asked.
" Andrea, the woman who was standing beside you," she explained. My mouth formed an 'o' shape in understanding.
" You are his sister?" I asked.
" Yes. If that is what makes you push me out of the room, then I won't be his sister," she said, innocently earning a hearty laugh from me.
" I don't have many friends in this pack, you know. It's always me and my best friend because I am Alpha's sister," she said.
" What is this with Alpha?" I asked, clearly everyone is saying that word too much.
" Let me put it this way, Alpha is the leader of a werewolf pack. Who protects the pack from the rogues and enemies that were likely to destroy us," she said.
" Oh."
" I am here to let you know that there will be a ball the day after tomorrow and you will be joining us," she informed me, my eyes widened at her words. Thousands of people like them will come.
" No, I can't," I said.
" Oh you can. When the king himself granted the permission," she said, and I saw her visibly stiffened at her own words.
" King?" I asked.
" Ummm, yeah," she said, carefully biting her lips.
" The real king?"
" Luke," she said finally, after taking a long and deep breath.
" He is the king of all the Alpha's around the world," she said.
" I will be coming later with your dresses, OK?" She said,
" Do I have a choice?" I asked.
" Clearly none. I have been alone all these years but I will be happy if you accompany me like a friend," she said honestly. I looked at her for a few moments and saw nothing but honesty.
" aurora?" I asked.
" Humm," he hummed in response.
" Will your brother, I mean the king, come to hurt me?" I asked, my voice broke at the end. Whatever ball she is excited about was the last thing on my mind right now. In less then a few days than I was attacked and got to know that werewolves are real and I was sold by my own biological father. I have been called sl*t. I feel like I don't have any dignity left.
" What? No. He would never do that. Didn't you see how he fought with father for you? You are special to him Scarlett, we can all see it," she said.
Before I could say anything, she spoke again,
" Whatever you went through in your past will stay there. You are now one of us and sooner or later my father will accept that."
" You don't have to worry about anything with us," she added. I smiled at her words. She is a soul of souls.
" Will he be coming?" I asked.
" Luke? No. He has plenty in his hands right now with the ball, council members and Vladimir," she said.
" Who is that?" I asked.
" The vampire lord," she said, a vill running down my spine hearing her. I would have passed out knowing these creatures were all real.
" Are you alright?" She asked, to which I nodded my head in response.
" You don't look like you are fine," she said, looking at me.
The door abruptly swung open and Luke stood at the threshold of the door looking at me with intensity.
" Aurora, I need to talk to her," he said.
" I will come back with the dresses. Don't miss me, I won't visit you tomorrow," she said with a wink, before leaving me with the king and also my buyer.
I wrapped my arms around myself, watching him come inside and closing the door behind him.
He sat on the bed next to me where Aurora was sitting. He turned to me and made me look at him.
" How old are you?" He asked.
" 17," I found myself answering his question.
" When is your birthday?" He asked again.
" The day after tomorrow," I said, gulping the fear down. My heart was pounding against my chest as I thought maybe he was waiting for me to turn 18 so he could…..
I didn't know a lone treacherous test escaped from my eyes until he wiped it away with his thumb.
" Don't be afraid of me, my little sun," he said, looking at me, his eyes softened.
" I would never hurt you ever," he said.
" I'm sorry if I upset you with my words earlier. I didn't mean to say those words. Just promise me you won't leave me whatever happens?" He asked.
" No," I said and I found myself becoming putty in his hands saying that.
