Chapter 14
Luke
I stormed into my office and slammed the door shut behind me. I felt like pulling my hair out. Shi*t, i cursed myself. I have never been this crazy for a girl. A girl, not a woman. She isn't even 18 yet.
A knock on my door made me calm down a bit.
" Come in," I said, leaning back into my chair.
" Alpha," Alex said as he walked in.
" The elder is here," he informed. I sighed, thinking that maybe he would be able to tell me what was happening to me.
" Are you okay?" He asked, cautiously gauging my reaction. He wanted to know that I am Luke and not a hunter who is always ready to rip heads off people.
" I don't know Alex. Everything was fine until she arrived and now my brain, my heart, everything is so messed up," I said with a sigh.
" Like, I don't know if I should say this or not, but maybe just maybe, what would you do if she was your mate?" he said.
" She is a human Alex," I said.
" But the connection I feel with her is something really special. My words would not justify my feelings towards her," I added.
" Maybe the elderly can help," Alex said, shrugging.
" Bring him into my office," I said, nodding his head before turning on his heels to leave my office. But he stopped before opening the door. Then he turned around and looked at me. I raised my eyebrows and waited for him to say something.
" What if she is not your mate? You said that she would be yours. That means you will choose her as your mate, but what if your fated mate arrives?" He asked.
" I will reject her as I said," I answered.
" You know you won't be able to resist the bond with your fated mate," he said before pushing the door open, leaving me all alone.
" Why am I behaving like this hunter?" I asked my wolf.
" I don't know Luke, but I can not stay far away from her," he said finally. Since our fight with her, this is the first time he talked to me this way. He sounded lost just like me.
" Alpha," Alex called as he swung the door open and stepped in alone.
" Where is Edward?" I asked.
" The council is here," he informed him, his face was as pale as a sheet.
A string of curses left my mouth. I have enough on my hands and now this.
" Who has come?" I asked, feeling gloomy.
" All of them," he said.
They don't come out unless it is something grave. I didn't hear in my entire life that they had all come out since the battle with Vladimir.
" Ask Marry to stay with Scarlett and don't let her come out until they are all gone," I said to Alex and he nodded at me, before his eyes glazed for a few seconds.
I got up from my seat and walked towards the living room in short and lazy steps with a stone-cold expression on my face.
" Hello, alpha," Vladimir the vampire hissed his words. Looking in my direction.
" Greetings alpha," all of them said in unison.
" Greeting member of council," I said to them and took a seat on the white couch.
" Any special reason to honour me with your presence in my house?" I asked, eyeing each and one of them.
" We wanted to know the reason behind postponing the ball," Lucas, one of the council members, a dragon and a very good friend of mine, said.
" We also got to know that you managed to have a new plaything in your pack house," Vladimir said, smirking at me.
My wolf had become furious hearing him say those words to Scarlett. He growled inside of my head and was crawling to come out and ripped his head.
" Oh, is that so?" I asked him while leaning back on the couch.
" I wondered where you heard such news?" I asked him, looking straight at him, earning a dark and evil chuckle from him. Bloody cold blooded, I cursed him in my head.
" You know we have our ways," he said, looking at his hand like it is the most precious thing he has.
" Now let her come out. I promise I won't hurt such a precious little thing," he said, looking into my eyes, like he was challenging me. Everyone in the living room went silent and tension in the air grew thicker by every passing second. They sat there looking at both of us.
" I only want to play with her just like you," he added in a hushed voice. And there, all the control I was having on myself and my wolf just broke. He snapped the last string of my sanity. A loud growl ripped through my chest.
I immediately felt the presence of someone on either side of me. Alex placed his hand on my shoulder a little too firmly to help me calm down. I looked to the other side only to find that my mother was standing beside me placing her hand on my shoulder as well. I can't lose control in front of council members.
" It's not the time, hunter," I said to my wolf to calm him down. Who was clawing inside of my head?
" He will pay for that," he growled.
" We will have plenty of chances," I said to my wolf and smirked at Vladimir.
" You don't have to worry about what happens in my personal life, dear council members," I said and smiled at them, scanning through everyone's faces.
" And for the ball, the ball will be held the day after tomorrow," I informed him.
" I hope to see you all there," I said, as soon as the words left my mouth, Vladimir stood up and left using his speed, but not before shooting daggers in my way.
" See you at the ball, alpha," Lucas said, giving me a smile and they all left one by one. Lucas and I never talked in front of the council members. If we did, they would think of him as a traitor. And I wouldn't want that for him. He worked hard to earn that position for himself.
It is just the beginning," my father interrupted my conversation with Alex.
" That girl is a doom of our pack. Let's see how long you can protect her," he spat, before leaving it in the living room.
" Don't take it to heart. You know how he is," my mother said.
" He only wants the best for the pack. And you are not an ordinary alpha to make mistakes. All the Alpha's under you will walk in your footsteps," she reminded me.
" I also want the best for my pack too. But these feelings i have been feeling after I met her, I can control them," I said honestly.
" Let's forget about all the troubles and let's think about the ball," she suggested.
" Is she going to join us as well?" My sister Aurora asked me.
" Yes she is," I said , smiling at her. My mother gasped to hear me say that.
" Can I meet her?" She asked.
" Yes, you can," I said and she clapped her hand before scurrying away towards my room.
" You can't do that, Luke," my mother said, anger was visible in her voice.
" Only your Luna is eligible to go with you," she said in disbelief.
" And i already said that I would make her my chosen Luna," I reminded her.
" She doesn't even want to see your face," she said, walking away from me. I know she is upset that I am going to reject my fated mate the moon goddess gifted us.
" She is not one of us and you know the risks of marking her. The chances of her survival.
" She hates Luke. I hope you make a wise decision. But remember that I won't tolerate and stand aside if you ever try to force her or try to hurt her," she gave me a warning.
" She may not be one of us, but that doesn't mean that I won't protect her. What your wolf did to her, I won't forget," she said before she went away in the direction where my father had left her.
I know everything she told me and it is eating me thinking how I will convince her to stay with me when she doesn't want to see my face after knowing what I am. A monster, a living nightmare. I slumped in my seat.
