Chapter 164

Yeah, they thought they could just get rid of you as if nothing mattered, but I'm scared of one thing: now that he's banished Henry for attempting to kill the crown prince, how do you plan on going about it? You can't just sit and watch the boy take the throne. Remember why you came here; you've always dreamed of being a queen. Now that his mother is gone, you are in charge. All you need is the perfect opportunity to take him down, and you need a perfect plan. You have to sit down and strategize. Remember, even when he has no wolf, he's still stronger than yours. He's a born king, a king even before he's born. You have to know that killing him will come with a lot of consequences."

"You don't have to worry; I will do it in a way that neither the alpha nor anyone will suspect me. I'm just letting them be for the meantime; I don't want them to suspect anything," she replied.

"What about Henry? What plan do you have for him in the meantime? There's no way you are going to follow him out of the castle; you should remain here to take revenge on Darien!"

"I plan on taking him to..." The alpha, who was standing at the door, accidentally touched the door, and it opened.

They both looked at her, shocked—not that they were scared, but because they were afraid he was going to tell people what they were discussing.

"My lord, you are here? How long have you been here?" she asked, smiling.

The old man also started laughing with her.

"Just recently. I was just passing by, so I decided to see you," he lied.

"Are you sure you didn't hear anything?"

"Yeah, I didn't get to hear anything. Is there anything you would want to share with me? Is there anything that's bothering you?" he asked her, pretending all was okay. He forgot one thing: she wasn't there empty-handed; she came fully prepared. Someone had informed her that the alpha was lying to her. Meanwhile, her sister just stood there watching, as if she'd never said a word, and the alpha, on the other hand, didn't give a damn about her.

Two days after that, the incident happened.

End of flashback.

"Dad, you mean Henry is not your son? So she only did everything to pin the pregnancy on you? I can see how bad they are. Even after knowing he's not yours, she's still battling to get the throne for him."

"Who told you she's battling to get the throne for him? She's doing it for herself!"

"Dad, what do you mean by she's doing it for herself? Isn't she doing it so her son can become the alpha?"

"That's where you get it all wrong. The Emily I know gives no fuck about anybody. She's also interested in his throne, and she's willing to do anything to get it. She will also discard him if he stands as a threat to her."

"So, this was it? She's this mean even to her own son? But, Dad, after you heard that thing, you should have told me. You should have personally told me what happened; then all this would have been prevented."

"You don't know Emily, Darien. If you knew what she's made of, then you wouldn't say this. I've attempted to tell you, Darien; I tried back then, but she was just all over the place. Each time I wanted to tell you, I ended up seeing her wherever I went. In order to keep you safe, I had to keep it to myself."

"I wish you had told me. I would have been able to protect my sister."

"That's not all I discovered. Do you remember the girl who jumped off the rooftop because of you?"

"Yes, she's Sandra's sister."

"Yes, I'm talking about her. A week before the incident, I found out something: everything she did wasn't her fault. She was actually forced by her foster parents, who are Sandra's real parents. They made her do it just so they could pin Sandra on you. They forced her to kill herself so they could ask you to marry her as compensation. But when you willingly chose to take care of her, they didn't bother bringing it up again."

"So you mean they aren't related? They only used her to pave the way for their daughter? How cruel can they be? That's bad! And I've lived my whole life believing I was at fault. She's been blackmailing me with it. She kept reminding me each time that I killed the only sister she had. She's played me too much to be ignored."

"I just happened to overhear her conversation with her mom when she came visiting. Her mom kept reminding her not to let any opportunity slide by, that they sacrificed a life to see her in that position. I was literally too shocked to say anything. I thought it was all until I heard her say they would give a small portion of the money to the girl's mom, and they would tell her it was you who pushed her down. That when you approached her and threatened to disgrace her, you told your father, and they forced you to be with the prince. They made everything look like you forced it on them like she's the helpless one. I couldn't believe my ears; I couldn't believe they could do such a thing."

"All these things are things you should have told me in the past. Stop telling me now; it's of no use. I've spent my whole life believing I was indebted to her. Stop telling me it's of no use!" he half-yelled.

"It wasn't my fault, Darien. I wanted to tell you, too, but then you left. Remember, you were away days before the incident
