Chapter 165

So tell me about the Darien guy; what should I do with him?" Alisha asked, walking towards them.

"Oh my dear, you are here! I'm happy you have finally come to your senses. I thought you were just going to sit back and let your husband go scot-free after what he did to you!" Emily blurted.

"And who said I'm fighting against my husband? I don't even have what it takes to fight anyone, not even the so-called Darien, so what makes you think I'm fit for this?" Alisha chuckled.

"You are fit, dear. You have everything it takes to achieve this; you just haven't found out yet. But not to worry, I will help you learn how to utilize your power."

"My power? Who told you I have supernatural powers? Because I can't remember telling you I have..."

"Well, you don't need to tell me. I knew it the moment I saw you. I'm not like any other wolf out there; I'm special. I can detect anyone with any sort of ability, and I know yours so well. Just don't worry; with me here, you will get to know the things you've got, and you'll do the things you never thought you'd do. I'm here to help you do the impossible."

"I'm still asking why you both are hell-bent on making me the one to face this Darien guy. Is there something you are not telling me?" She looked at them suspiciously.

"No, dear, not at all. We just discovered that you have what it takes to achieve it—something neither of us has. Our work is to help you learn how to use it, and then you help us finish him off. You can also take revenge on your husband if you want!"

"So you mean you will help me discover my powers, and in exchange, I will help you take down the guy? I don't think that's fair enough. I'm the one doing all the hard tasks. Even if you choose not to help me, I will still take revenge on my so-called husband."

"You don't have to be scared. My son and I are willing to help you with anything—just anything! Just mention it, in exchange for you helping us finish him off!"

"Fine, I accept. Tell me what I need to do!"

"Yes, that's more like it! So it's not too much to ask. We only need to fix an appointment with him. We invite him to a place, telling him to make sure he comes alone, and then once he comes, you will attack him!"

"What? That's a hard one! How the hell do you expect me to get into a face-to-face fight with a man? Are you indirectly wishing me death?"

"No, not at all! You don't have to worry about anything else. We only need you to do that, and then we'll finish him off completely."

"Well then, I guess it's a deal now. Tell me whenever you are ready to start the training."

"We don't have much time left, so we shouldn't waste any. Since you are done, I guess we should just get started." Alisha nodded obediently.

Wren could be seen seated on his couch going through some documents when Jace came in.

"Good afternoon," Wren greeted briefly and then went back to what he was doing.

"Yeah, what are you doing? I've been looking for you the entire day. Where have you been?"

"Well, I've been busy. I went to check something out with the alpha. He's personally asked me to investigate the death of Alisha's stepmom, and from what I have found out so far, the gang has a hand in it!"

"What gang are you talking about?" Jace asked almost immediately.

"What other gang except for the one that tried to attack the coronation day—the one whose corpse has been lingering all over the pack? I've got a really strong clue, so I should leave to go tell the alpha about it." He attempted to stand up.

"Tell me, don't you get tired of being just a follower? Aren't you tired of following that rude brat around?"

"What do you mean by 'ain't I tired'? Why should I be? He's the alpha, and I'm his beta. I must work for him until my last breath!"

"Can you just listen to yourself? How can you keep serving someone who's the same age as you? Don't you get tired of being a follower?"

"I don't understand where you are driving. Why are you suddenly bringing up this discussion?"

"That's because I'm tired! How come only Darien has the right to rule? Remember, our father was also a beta to him; it's high time we get something bigger and mightier!"

"Please, Jace, I shouldn't be discussing this with you. I know you mainly came back for the throne. I've known your evil deeds, and I've been trying really hard to hide them. But if you continue like this, then it won't be easy for me. Just let the throne go! It's not ours. And yes, our father being a beta is not bad. A beta is second in command to the alpha, so what else do you want? Don't think you can convince me to come your way because it's never going to happen. I'm going to stand by him."

"Are you choosing him over me? I'm your brother, you fool! Are you telling me you'd rather be an enemy with me than go against him? Be plain and tell me what you have in mind."

"Yes, Jace, I will choose him a thousand times. Remember when you abandoned me after our parents died? He was there to fend for me. If not for him, how would I have survived? And you still expect me to go against him? If after telling you all this, you still choose not to listen to me, then I'm sorry for what happens next.
