36. The Letter
36. The Letter
Sol POV
I sat their stunted I couldn’t believe what I just read. The lawyer had so much to say that it was just taking a toll, but the first thing he did was give me a lock box and the key to it. Inside there was a note from my father and it had not said anything good. And the whole meeting was spent with me replaying my father’s words that I had read.
Quientin had asked me what was in it after I read it, but I just shook my head telling him I would tell him later. I couldn't do it right now though I was shocked he had given me a command, and I had felt the will from the paper. It was the last command I had ever heard from my father who was also my alpha it wasn't like something I could disobey. But it also was something I didn't want to do.
The meeting was a long one but when it finished, I had money that I knew I couldn't spend in my lifetime I also had so much property. I thought about possibly praying to my mother I didn't know if my father told her he had done this, but it was clear she had no part in it there was no letter from her or anything.
Even the lawyer had said that he had set this up if he had not heard from Cade and to go ahead and reach out to me. I thought back to the last time I saw my mother in person before summer she had said something along the lines of my father not wanting to talk to me about how bad things were getting or even her.
When we arrived home. I just needed to decompress and think of how I was going to do this. I didn't want to; I would be forced now my father had given me a command. And it was his last one I would probably ever have. I was alpha blood, and I could fight his command, but it felt almost disrespectful, and I never wanted to be that way with my parents. It's why I worked so hard at everything. I always felt that pressure and now I felt it more than ever.
“Hey” I heard Cassius say approaching us I just gave him a week smile and kept walking not wanting to talk to him, or anyone for a little bit. “What did the lawyer say?” Kimi asked. Approaching me, but I just shook my head again not wanting to talk about it and kept walking inside the house. I knew she was going to have to soon but not right then. I walk straight up to my room and shut the door behind me.
It didn’t take long for Cassius to open the door and come sit beside me on my bed, I guess it was our bed now with everything going on. I had completely forgotten that this space was no longer just mine. It was a newly for formed den. “ Sol what happened?” I could hear the concern in his voice, and I didn’t like it. He was supposed to be an asshole and rip me a new one for ignoring him?
I just shook my head, not wanting to discuss it. I just need to think for a little bit. “Come on tell me it’s not like I’m part of your pack. I could be a outside perspective.” I snorted and looked at him. “My father left me a note for the lawyer to give to me.” I said not knowing why I was even opening up right now.
Regardless of my confusion as to why I was being so forthcoming, I continued “He left a final command for me if he should go missing or die that I was to drop out of school head north he left a large piece of property for me. It’s not as far north as my mother ‘s pack was before she joined my father ‘s, but it is pretty far in the north. I’m supposed to go to this property and establish something just as he did with his beta Mark, when their pack was practically wiped out. I am to take the remaining members of our pack with me and start building up a new one.”
I continue sharing there so much in the letter. “He said that revenge is sweet, but it can take a long time to get to that point and that I am to establish a whole new pack not as far north as my mother’s not as far south as ours. I’m supposed to take in rogues as he did until our numbers are good and then, if and when the time comes to seek revenge for his death and no doubt my mother’s.” Cassius was staring.
“He also said that it is challenging building up something fresh but I'll have some of the original pack to help me do it and they can help me and that I know how to hunt and defend myself and know how to build structures from nothing and that I can do it. It will be a true cross between the north and the South from a fresh start. And that this was best. He went on to apologize about how he hadn't divulged the situation how it had been rapidly declining the last several years.”
“He also included that I would eventually find my mate and it could take some time. But when I found my person things would fit into place, and they would be able to help me in my endeavors. He was very sorry that he hadn't divulged how bad things were. And how sorry he was that I would be forced to build up a pack like he had when he was attacked as a boy, but that I was strong, and I could manage it.” I then pulled out the note that I had kept in my pocket and handed it to Cassius so he could read what I just explained.
He read over the very long note and then looked at me “That doesn’t sound like too bad of a future if you ask me?” he said, and I just stared at him not knowing what to say. How could he think that? Was I now just supposed to uproot everyone once again isolate my cousin from all the people to live in the wilderness with me? My father had made the assumption that it would be more than just me, Kimi and Quentin who would survive. How were we supposed to build a whole pack with only three people and one who is my mate, but not part of the pack.
