Chapter 50 Chapter 50
Chapter 50
Iris POV
We left the hospital and got into the car immediately. All through the ride to the hospital Vickie was in, Darius kept asking me if I was okay.
And telling me not to freak out at random times. I didn't even answer him, all that's on my mind now is seeing Vickie.
I want to understand why I had that kind of dream. In that dream she died and I pray it's just a dream and nothing more.
"How long until we get there?" I asked the driver, already grown out of patience.
"Just a little bit more ma'am." The driver responded. I nodded my head and leaned back in the seat and tried to calm down. I felt hands on mine but I didn't need to look down to be able to tell who it was.
"Calm down, Iris." Darius whispered.
"Shouldn't you call your father and ask him first? What if they have already taken her home?" He continued.
"I doubt that. I'm sure he already forgot she is in the hospital." I replied to him.
That bastard man, if anything happens to Vickie I will never forgive him. He could have gone to check her in the hospital that day, then call me to come meet them at the hospital but no.
He didn't. He had me come over to the house, he clearly has no intention of going there to see her. I doubt he even knows I had an accident.
"We are here." The driver announced as we started to pull into the family hospital driveway. If it wasn't for Darius holding my hand, I probably would have jumped out of the car already but I stayed put until the car was packed.
We got out of the car but even then, Darius didn't release my hand. We entered the hospital hand in hand.
"Good afternoon nurse, we are here to see Vickie Smith." I said, with a fake smile plastered on my face.
"Oh, I remember you. Good afternoon Ms. Iris." She greeted me back. "Allow me to check, just a minute."
"Okay." I nodded, stood by and waited for her to check whatever she wanted to check.
"The doctor has asked you to come to his office." She said after a while.
"Why do we need to go there? I'm not here to see the doctor, I'm here to see my sister."
"Vickie, I'm sure you know her. You have definitely seen us together." I continued.
"I understand but the Doctor has requested your presence in his office." She insisted.
"But I just said I'm not..."
"Where is the doctor's office?" Darius asked, interrupting me.
"Upstairs. Just take the elevator to floor four, it's the second office there." She replied.
"Thank you." Darius said and before I could even say another word, Darius dragged me towards the elevator.
"We don't need to go upstairs to the doctor, Darius. We aren't here to see him." I complained as we entered the elevator.
"Let's just go to him, Iris. I'm sure he must have some important information for us, otherwise he wouldn't have asked us to come to his office."
"And once he finishes telling us whatever he wants to say we can go see Vickie." He replied and I nodded. Yeah, I'm sure he has something to say.
Maybe wants to talk about some necessary drugs to get for Vickie. The elevator stopped and we made our way to the office.
Before I could raise my hand to knock on the door, Darius turned me to face him.
"Promise me Iris, whatever happens in there you will handle it well." He whispered.
I laughed. "What are you talking about, Darius?"
"Just promise me, iris."
"Fine." I nodded. "I promise to handle whatever happens there well."
"Can we go in now?" I asked.
"Yeah, let's go." He knocked on the door and the doctor responded from inside for us to come in.
"Good afternoon, Doctor Steven." I greeted as we entered his office, the fake smile from earlier back on my face. I don't know why I'm finding it hard to smile genuinely.
"Good afternoon, Ms. Smith." He replied with a professional smile. "Good afternoon, Alpha Darius. Please take your seat."
He gestured to the couch in his office and we sat down.
"You don't look okay." Doctor Steven pointed out. "Are you sure everything is fine?"
"Everything is okay, just a minor accident." I replied.
"Okay then."
"So, what do you want to see me for doctor? Is it about drugs for Vickie?"
"You didn't have to worry about that, I could have just picked up the prescription from the receptionist." I finished, laughing nervously as I felt Darius squeezing my hand again.
"That is not why I called you here, Ms. Smith. It's about your sister, yes but not about drugs." The doctor declared.
"Ohh, what is it then? Does it have to do with her injury? Does she have to use a wheelchair for the time being?" I bombarded him with questions.
"Your sister had a terrible fall..."
"Yeah, I know that." I interrupted the doctor. "That was why I was asking if she needed to use a wheelchair for sometime."
"A wheelchair is not a problem, I can always bring her to the hospital whenever you need her around. Now that is settled, just take me to her already." I continued.
"Your sister is dead." The doctor announced.
I laughed a little before opening my mouth to reply to him. "I'm talking about my sister, Doctor. I mean, Vickie Smith, my twin sister."
"Yes, I'm talking about Ms. Vickie Smith. She gave up the ghost last night."
"You are getting it all wrong doc, Vickie fell down. How could she possibly die from a fall? Look, I'm not even interested in any of these going on."
"Just take me to see her." I demanded.
"She broke her ribs during the fall. She was already at the verge of death when she was rushed here and after hours of surgery we still couldn't save her."
"She fell into a coma and immediately she woke up, she demanded her baby be saved at any cost.
