Chapter 49 Chapter 49
Chapter 49
Iris POV
"Vickie." I shouted as I jolted awake. I looked around the room frantically trying to decipher where I was. Why am I in a hospital? Did I manage to get to the hospital Vickie was?
Then, it dawned on me. I was driving because I didn't see the driver and then a truck from nowhere was about to collide with my car. I tried my best to avoid it but the brake failed.
And then, the car tumbled over several times. The last thing I remember is dialing someone's number.
"Iris, are you okay?" I heard from beside me. I turned to look at the person and it was Darius.
"Wh...ere is Vickie?" I asked, my throat dry from being dehydrated.
"She is fine." His beta said nervously.
Something is wrong, why didn't Darius answer?
"Let me get the doctor, for you?" Darius said about to leave the room but I held his hand.
"I'm okay, just take me to see Vickie." I demanded.
"No, Iris. You are not okay, you were in an indefinite coma and you woke up only after almost two days. I need to call the doctor, I need them to make sure you are okay." Darius declined.
"I said I'm fine Darius. Just take me to Vickie please." I shouted and I watched as his expression changed.
"Please Darius, just take me to her." I pleaded. "I had... a dream and in my dream she died. She died Darius, I need to go to her and make sure she is fine."
"Calm down, Iris. I will take you to see her once the doctor checks on you and tells me that you are fine." He said after not responding for sometime.
"Please Darius, we are running out of time." I pleaded with tears in my eyes.
"I'm sorry, Iris but that's the only way I'm letting you leave this room." He concluded.
"Fine then." I muttered. "If the doctors check up on me, you will let me go right?" I asked to be sure and he nodded his head.
"Of course, I will let you go see her." He squeezed my hand a little, trying to get me to lay back on the bed.
"Nathan, go get the doctors."
"Okay, Alpha." My eyes stayed on Darius as his beta left the room to go get the doctors. I just hope this dream I had is just a dream.
I pray nothing happens to Vickie. I will never forgive myself if anything were to happen to her because I was supposed to be at the hospital with her.
If only I had taken another car or my driving skills weren't so rusty. But it wasn't exactly my fault, the brakes were faulty it's as if someone tampered with them.
None of the cars at the house has ever had a problem like that. The doctors and nurses entered the room, checking the monitor, my pulse and all.
Even checking my temperature.
"Does anywhere hurt?" One of the doctors asked. I wanted to tell him yes that my whole body hurt but knowing Darius he wouldn't allow me leave here so I lied instead.
"No, I'm fine. Just thirsty." I watched as Darius poured water into a cup and brought it to my lips. I opened my mouth and gulped down the water.
"Thank you." I whispered after I had enough water.
"It's okay." He said as he dropped the cup on the table.
"Are you sure you aren't hurting anywhere?" The doctor asked again. I almost winced as he pressed a finger down hard on one of my injuries.
I shook my head, but didn't allow the pain I was feeling to reflect on my face.
"That's weird, you should still be hurting but I guess it's okay. I guess your wolf healed you faster." The doctor continued.
"So, can I leave now?" I asked, looking at the doctor expectantly.
"I'm sorry ma'am but you can't. We have to keep you under our watch for at least a day or two, we need to make sure you are fine to go home." The doctor declined.
"No, doctor. I need to go now, I have to see my sister."
"You said you will allow me to go, if the doctor says I'm fine, Darius. I'm okay you heard him earlier, now let me go." I begged.
"I'm sorry Iris, but you heard the doctor. They need to keep you under watch for a day or two." He shook his head.
"No, Darius. You are breaking your promise. You said you will let me go see Vickie if the doctors say I'm fine. Now, let me go." I cried.
"I will go check on Vickie myself, if you are really worried about her." He suggested but I shook my head profusely.
"No, Darius. I have to go see her myself. I need to see her with my own eyes." I refused.
"I will take a picture or a video if it makes you feel better." He suggested it again but I shook my head.
"Nothing can compare, Darius. I need to see her myself physically. Please, just let me go. I'm begging you please." I pleaded desperately.
“I'm sorry, but there is nothing I can do.”
“You lied to me Darius. You said if I allowed the doctors to check up on me you would let me go to Vickie.” I shouted, trying to get up from the bed but he held me down.
“I swear to you, Darius, if you don't let me go right now. I will kill myself right here.” I threatened, thrashing around on bed.
“Calm the fuck down Iris.” Darius shouted clearly frustrated.
“I won't calm down, Darius.” I shouted back. “I won't calm down until you take me to her.”
“Doctor, is it advisable I take her out of the room?” Darius asked and my head snapped to the doctor. Waiting for him to say no so I can pounce on him.
“It looks like it's an emergency so, I will allow it.” The doctor replied.
“See?” I said. “Even the doctor agrees with me.”
“I don't think you should go, Iris. Vickie is fine.” Darius protested.
“Yeah, I know but I want to see her with my own eyes.” I growled.
“Fine.” Darius hissed, rolling his eyes. “Let's go.”
