Chapter 29 Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Iris POV
"My lady," the maid drew my attention. I turned to face her, waiting for her to say what she wanted to say.
"The Alpha said he won't be joining you for breakfast today." She said,
"Ohh okay then." I replied, going back to flipping the pancakes. It has been like that for the last four days. Some days he would eat with me and others he wouldn't.
We haven't even spoken since the wedding night. He already knows I'm not Vickie but I can't let him think he is right.
I have to keep on pretending, and soon enough Vickie will come and take my place here. I didn't know how to feel about that but I decided not to think about it for now.
After I finished making the pancakes. I plated it and headed to my room with the food. I slumped down on my bed, settling the food in front of me.
My phone dinged as I was about to start eating. It was a message from Vickie.
"I'm really sorry for putting you in that position Iris. But don't worry, everything will be alright soon." I read the message under my breath.
I thought about what to reply to her with before finally deciding on one. "It's not your fault Vickie, stop blaming yourself." I read the message to make sure it made sense before sending it.
I dropped the phone, focusing on my breakfast. My phone rang when I was almost done eating, I groaned picking the phone up. I hissed as I saw the name of the person calling me.
"Father." I said simply.
"How is it going? Does he suspect anything yet?" He asked, not even asking me how I was doing or how I have been holding up.
"No father, he doesn't suspect anything." I lied.
"Of course he wouldn't, he is such a fool." He said.
"And also, don't think because of all of this, I will forget about your wedding. We will start the preparation when you are back home."
"But father..." I was about to complain when he ended the call.
I threw my phone somewhere on the bed angrily. I thought maybe he would change his mind after this, so I was still getting married.
Goodness why freaking me?
Why does he like doing things his own way? At least, he should allow me to meet with the person I'm getting married to.
What if I dislike the person or he is one of the guys I met in the club.
A knock sounded on the door, snapping me back to reality.
"Come in," I said to the person.
The maid stepped in, bowing her head before speaking. "The Alpha told me to inform you to dress up nicely. He said you will be going with him for a business dinner."
"When did he tell you that?" I asked her. How could I follow him to a business dinner and why didn't he send me a message or call me himself.
Right, I blocked his number, since I didn't have Vickie's phone.
"A few minutes ago, my lady." She responded.
"Okay, thank you." I said and she bowed her head again before leaving the room.
What do I wear to this business dinner? I jumped out of bed, heading straight for the closet. I picked a black ankle length sleeveless dress I knew would look great on me.
I set it out on my bed, followed by a silver stiletto heels. Then, I decided to do something with my hair. I straightened my hair for the first time in years.
I swooped it up in a perfectly done bun that allowed my jawline to show. I looked at myself in the mirror and the hair looks really good on me.
I fixed the mole so it wouldn't come off at the restaurant or wherever we are going too. I didn't do any make-up since I wasn't a fan of it, just used my lip gloss.
I put on the dress and heels staring into the mirror. And the person staring back at me looks so beautiful, even I am surprised myself.
I wonder what Darius would say when he sees me, would he like the way I dressed. Stop it Iris, you didn't dress up for him you dressed up for the business dinner I reminded myself.
I sat down on my bed, scrolling on Instagram while I waited for Darius. A car honk caught my attention, and it was coming from downstairs. That should be him.
The door opened and the same maid from earlier stepped in. "My Lady, the Alpha is here." She informed me.
"Alright, thank you." I replied to her and got up from the bed, making my way downstairs slowly with my heart racing. What if he doesn't like what I did with my hair, No Iris you didn't dress up for him. I reminded myself again.
When I got outside the house, his beta was standing by the door side ready to open it for me. "Good evening my Lady," he bowed his head, opening the door for me.
"Good evening." I replied back getting into the car. I gulped as I realized Darius was in the car with him. Shit, I knew he was in the car. Why did I act this way then?
The car started moving but Darius has yet to say anything to me. His eyes were on me the whole time, he didn't look elsewhere.
I shifted in my seat under his intense gaze. I wanted to say something also but I didn't know what to say, I didn't want to ruin a perfect evening.
"We are here Alpha." The driver informed.
I glanced outside the window to see we had arrived at an exquisite restaurant. Darius got down from the car and I followed after him.
He held my hand after, still not saying a word to me. "Darius." I finally said breaking the silence between us. I wanted him to say something to me, I don't care what he says but I don't like the silent treatment.
But he didn't respond. "Welcome Alpha Darius, I will lead you to your table." The receptionist said with a smile.
"No need, my wife needs to wash her hand so I will take her to the restroom first." He said, already pulling me in the direction of the restroom.
"What are you doing Darius? I don't need to wash my hands." I grumbled but he didn't say anything until we were inside the restroom and the door clicked lock.
He pushed me against the door, his lips crashing against mine.
