Chapter 30 Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Darius POV
She placed her hands on my chest, trying to push me away from her but I didn't budge. I kept on sucking on her lips even though she didn't open up her mouth for me.
I nipped on her bottom lip and she gasped. I took that as my opportunity and thrusted my tongue inside her mouth. I explored every corner and after a while, she stopped struggling.
Now, wrapping her hands around my neck and kissing me back. I pulled back away from her slowly, her lips chasing after mine.
"You look so beautiful tonight Iris." I whispered, kissing her mouth again briefly.
She turned her face away from me, trying to inhale some air. "I...am not Iris." She whispered.
"How long do you really think you can fool me?" I growled, backing away from her.
I straightened my shirt, walking to the sink to wash my hands.
"I'm not fooling you." From the corner of my eye I could see her getting away from the door.
"What are you doing then? It seems you have forgotten that we are mates. And even your behavior gives it away."
"If you were truly Vickie, you would have flared up the minute I called you Iris on the altar. But you didn't, which only proves me right even more." I continued.
"I choose not to say anything because I don't feel like explaining myself to you." She said pretending to be angry.
"Wash your face." I said calmly, leaning against the sink and folding my hands on my chest.
"What?" She blurted out.
"Wash your face. And then, I would know if you are truly Vickie." I said.
"I mean, if you are Vickie like you claim to be, there is nothing to be scared of right?" I added.
"I'm not scared of anything, I just don't feel like washing my face right now." She replied.
"Come on, it's just a little bit of water, nothing too much." I coerced.
"It would ruin my makeup." She blurted out, scratching the back of her neck.
"You are not putting on any make-up." I said, walking closer to her.
"R...ight." She cleared her throat. "If you are here to force me to do things, I might as well leave." She turned around and I reached my hand out stopping her.
"You weren't even this agitated about the kiss. But look at you know, fuming because I asked you to wash your face. It's fine if you don't want to do it, let's just go have dinner." I withdrew my hand from her and left the restroom.
She followed after me, muttering something under her breath.
I wonder for how long she would continue pretending. Nathan still hasn't found anything yet on the Smith's family.
The only information I have right now is the one my uncle discussed with me about. Something about Iris being in a hospital in another country.
But that isn't Iris, that's Vickie. Iris has been living with me for some days now. What I don't understand is what is going on.
I need to get to the bottom of this by all means possible. Till then, all I have to do is stop pestering Iris. I would make her believe I have fallen into her and her father's trap.
I will treat her just the way I intended to treat Vickie after this dinner. I sat down, not bothering to pull out a seat for her.
She huffed, sitting opposite me. I waved for one of the waitress to come.
"Good evening Sir, Ma. I will be your waitress for the evening." She greeted me with a smile.
"Mmn. Can we have the menu? My wife and I would like to order now." I demanded.
"Here it is." She said placing the menu on the table.
"I will call you when we decide what we want to order." I said dismissing her.
"I will be waiting just around the corner." With that the waitress left.
"Aren't we going to wait for your business partners to come before ordering?" Iris voiced out.
"We are alone." I gave her a simple reply.
"But you said this is a business dinner." She asks still in disbelief.
"Isn't it?" I replied, raising my eyebrow at her.
"We are ready to order." I called for the waitress again.
"But I haven't even picked what I want to eat yet." Iris muttered.
I didn't pay attention to her. "Alright sir, what would you like to have?" The waitress asked, prepared to jot our orders down.
"For appetizer, I will have the honey-glazed shrimp skewers. And for the main meal, I will do the Creamy Tuscan chicken with herbs potatoes. Then dessert, molten dark chocolate cake with vanilla cream should do." I called out my order.
"Noted." She said, turning to Iris to take her orders.
Before Iris could talk, I spoke again. "My wife would have the Creamy Garlic Butter Shrimp as an appetizer. Pan-seared salmon with lemon butter sauce for the main meal. For dessert, she will have the same thing I'm having."
"Right, I will be back soon with your orders." The waitress said, leaving us alone.
"How did you know what to order for me?" Iris asked, looking at me suspiciously.
"Just a lucky guess." I replied simply.
She hummed, and her phone dinged. She brought it out of her purse to see what it was. Her facial expression changed slightly but she didn't let it show.
She typed something before returning her phone back inside her purse.
Soon enough, the waitress came back with our orders. She started placing the dishes from her trolley one after the other on the table.
"Enjoy your meal." The waitress said, bowing her head and leaving.
I started eating but I was occasionally stealing glances at Iris. She looked a lot different tonight, I was so used to her wavy hair I was startled when she got into the car.
The hairdo highlighted all her facial features, her jaw looked so defined. And then her beautiful eyes were drawing me in every time she looked at me.
I wanted to do so many things for her but I knew I couldn't. At least not now when she is pretending to be someone she isn't.
