Chapter 56; The Unknown Mark

Matthew and Cheska make their way back to the pack house to inform Luna Maurice of her situation. But what awaited them was anarchy, and Samantha was to blame.

"What exactly is going on?" "Why had her wounds gotten so much worse?" In disbelief, Matthew inquired. He was confident that the wound was not life-threatening because he had seen her earlier.

"Alpha, the doctor said Samantha's wound contained poison, which is why she's in critical condition..." One of the pack members clarifies. Then he casts a doubtful glance towards Cheska.

Cheska is now in jeopardy because everyone knows she caused the wound. "What are you on about?" She was not poisoned by me!"

Matthew leaned in and patted Cheska on the shoulder. "Don't worry, because I know you didn't." He gave her assurance. He knows Samantha's wound is normal and not poisoned because he saw her previously.

"But, Alpha, the doctor has already announced that Samantha has been poisoned..."

Matthew and Cheska exchange glances. They then went to the infirmary to check on Samantha. When they arrived to the specified location, they discovered Luna Maurice and the Head Council, as well as Leonil."You! How could you possibly have done this to my daughter? How are you going to poison her? "Can you tell me what you used?" As soon as he spotted Cheska, the leader of the council retorted. He threatened to slap her out of rage.

Fortunately, Matthew was swift. He instinctively blocked himself, preventing the head council from continuing the intended assault.

"You are oblivious to the situation... Cheska did not poison Samantha because I was aware of her situation..." Matthew replied as he walked to see the patient again, ignoring the head council.

"This is strange. What caused his wound to turn black? It wasn't always like this." Matthew muttered to himself and turned to face the doctor. "Who came here to check on Samantha?"

The doctor paused for a time before shaking his head. "... Alpha, please forgive me... but I'm afraid I can't answer your question because I was so busy that I couldn't keep up with those who entered.""Why? "What exactly are you thinking?" Luna Maurice recognized Matthew's thoughts right away. "... Do you think someone sneaked in and poisoned her?""Mom! Do you agree? But who is going to do it? I know Samantha is a jerk, but I don't think anyone wants her to disappear." Cheska responded, her eyes flashing in surprise. Samantha is a brat in every sense of the word. Many people despise her. However, simply having the bravery to poison her is insufficient. The pack members, in especially, are terrified of the head council."Enough! I'm certain you did! Please tell me what poison you gave her so that we can create an antidote!" The council's leader exclaimed, his gaze fixed on Cheska.

"What are you on about?" I'm not going to poison her! I can kill Samantha with my hand if I want to!" Cheskaa shook her head, reasoning. Then she turns to face her mother... She was curious to watch her reaction."Lies! We're all aware of your frailty! "How can you say that so casually?" The council's leader shouted with skepticism. He then turned to look at Matthew and Luna Maurice. "Because the suspect's name is Cheska, I'd like to lock her up!"

"That is excessive, Head Council.""Is it too much?" Am I? Have you forgotten the pack rule? It's only logical to imprison Cheskaa because she's the main suspect!"

Luna Maurice remained silent because what the head council said was correct. She couldn't argue with it. The Thunder Pack strictly enforces the law.

"Do you want me to go to prison?" Really? Why don't you examine my nails? Surely the poison residue is still here!" Cheska reasoned as she gazed around the room."Enough! You will be imprisoned until you are proven innocent!" Following this declaration, the council's chairman yelled for his man to be called.

Matthew, who was still silent, stepped in. "You don't need to contact anyone. I'm going to put Cheska in jail!" His speech was calm, but it was also clear that he was about to erupt in rage.

The leader of the council no longer protested after hearing this and seeing Matthew's murderous expression.

"Why should I be locked up?" "I didn't do anything wrong!" When Matthew approached Cheska, she mumbled.

"It's Thunder's rule, and even I can't stop it." Matthew answered by signing. "But don't worry, I'll discover the truth... Someone did this to put you in jail—"

"Me? But why is this so? "Who will come after me?" Cheska screamed with dread. She despised the prospect of being imprisoned for a crime she had not committed.

"Who saw what happened, and who was aware of what had taken place?" Bradley inquired. He then took Leila and led her out.

In the meantime, Luna Maurice followed Cheska and Matthew on their walk.

"What about the stranger?" This might have been done by someone outside the flock. Luna Maurice proposed

Cheska sighed again after a few time of consideration. Samantha and her two best friends, however those girls flee the scene as soon as my eyes begin to become a crimson color...

"Then let's get started... Luna Maurice, look into the stranger that was in the area. I'll handle the conversation with Samantha's pal..."

"All good, then I'll get started right away... It's up to you whether or not to take Cheska—"

Cheska hugged Luna Maurice before she finished her remarks."—Mom, I need to tell you something very important.."

They three headed towards the protected location where no one could hear them.

"So, enlighten me, what exactly is it?" While staring at Cheska and Matthew, Luna Maurice asked a serious inquiry.

While Matthew spoke, Cheska removed her scarf.

"Are you familiar with something called the lotus mark?"

"Lotus mark?" Luna Maurice paused for a moment to reflect. "I have a feeling that I've heard this before, but I can't say for certain... Why?"

"Because it appears on me... Mom, I'm afraid I won't be able to obtain the Thunder Pack mark as a result of this..."

"Oh my goodness! It's true! "How did you get it, though?"

"These belonged to my wolf..." When she fixed me, she indicated my powers were also awake, but she didn't elaborate.

"Your wolf?"

Cheska explained everything after seeing her mother's puzzled expression. Except for Matthew, she kept nothing hidden.

Maurice sighed after a lengthy period of silence. "If your father is still alive, he may be able to answer your question, particularly with regard to the mark that is placed on your head and the prophecy."

Cheska noticed her mother's anguish in her eyes once more. It appears only when she recalls her father...

Should I let her know that there is a remote probability that my father is still alive? No! I can't say, especially because I'm not certain...
