Chapter 82 - Like my woman

SIN'S P.O.V.

"Are you okay?" Larissa asked again as she pulled away, her hands cupping my cheek and feeling around my chest.

I nodded, watching her silently. She looked so genuinely concerned. So genuinely scared. If I didn't know the sort of woman she was, I would be swayed. If I didn't know she was fucking deranged, if I didn't know there was some conspiracy going on and my ex-wife, who is apparently the closest to me, is some bait for my emotions, I would have fallen for this shit show.

"I need to go somewhere," I said quietly, feeling the sting of the glasses that had cut my face. "You should go home."

I stood up, then grabbed Enrique's gun. Just in case. Just in case anyone was out there. Or heading for Annalise. Fuck, I would kill anyone who dared to touch her.

"Sin," Larissa said, and I stopped, turning to her.

I was exhausted. Very tired of being angry. I just wanted to go to that hospital. Find my home in Annalise and be warm. And vulnerable. I was so fucking exhausted.

"What do you want?" I asked again when she wouldn't say a word.

She swallowed, her chest heaving. "I am glad I came on time. I don't know what I would do if something had happened to you."

I bit down on my lips. Calm, Sin. If I keep pushing back, I will never get to the bottom of this. I could endanger Annalise. I could endanger Angel.

"You saved my life," I said, hoping I sounded at least believable. "Thank you."

She broke into a smile, and my eyes thinned a little more. It's crazy how I didn't even find that smile beautiful anymore.

"Can I wait here for you? I will..."

"No," I said, turning upstairs. "I will send a few men to clean this mess up. Go home and I will see you another night?"

Her eyes brightened considerably. "You will really come see me?"

"That is the least I can do for someone who saved my life."

She stood up, letting out a sigh of relief. "I am so happy I got here on time, then. I will wait for you. All my life if I have to."

She covered the distance to me, then slowly held my bloodied hand. Gently, she dug her fingers in all of the blood on my hands, then brought the back of my hand to her lips.

Her eyes closed as she kissed the back of my hand, and I was not sure what to compare the feeling to, but it felt like taking the wrong drug. Like getting high for the first time. The uncomfortable goosebumps. The disgust. The creepiness. It all checked out.

She sighed against my hand before she pulled away and dropped my hand. "I will wait."

Like I cared. The only waiting person I cared for was Annalise. And Larissa was wasting my time.

"Go home," I said, knowing fully well that she wouldn't.

I went upstairs to my study, turned on the cameras, locked the important things, and took the single flash drive that I couldn't afford to lose. Once that was done, I left the study and only closed the door, baiting Larissa. She would come up here.

I knew she would. It hadn't been a coincidence that she was here. Or that all the men I knew to be against me had a thing with her. Or that she somehow seemed to be everywhere.

I opened the door to my room. Angel was still asleep, and I carefully carried her in my arms. My phone was in my pocket, and I headed downstairs. Larissa was still standing where I left her, and after forcing a small smile, I went out the door.

I got the keys to the fastest car in my garage and went to it. I put Angel in the back before I got in the driver's seat. The screens were set up to the cameras in my home, and while I watched the empty house in my peripherals, I zoomed off to the hospital.

Larissa had stayed consistent throughout my ride and had simply paced around a bit while a few of my guards cleared away Enrique's body. I watched her make a phone call just as I got to the hospital.

I immediately got out of the car, then pulled Angel out with me. I brought her to rest on me before I made my way inside the hospital.

I made my way straight towards Annalise's room, and the butler I had sent to watch her was standing outside, a look of exasperation on his face.

"What is it?" I asked, handing Angel to him.

He sighed. "She keeps asking of you, Sir. I don't know what to do anymore."

I turned to the closed door, and something instantly felt warm inside.

"Is she really?"

He nodded, then let out a small sigh. "You are injured, Sir. I am beginning to think she was right to worry about you."

A small smile made its way up my face, and I reached for the doorknob. "Take care of Angel."

"Should I take her home?"

"No," I said, turning the knob. "I am spending the night here."

He nodded, but his eyes never left my face. I wasn't sure how bad it was, but I honestly didn't want to delay seeing Annalise just to clean it up.

"Bring some warm food too. I doubt she ate anything."

"She didn't," he said immediately. "I will be back, Sir."

I watched him go as he cradled Angel in his hands. I turned back to the door, my heart racing in my chest like it was the first time I would be seeing her.

The thrill ran through me, and I held my breath as I started to turn the knob. Before I could open it completely, however, the door suddenly flew open.

My brows furrowed as I looked down at Annalise. Her lips were dark red and parted, her hair wild. She looked like she had skipped mountains to be here. Like she had fought demons to keep this fire alive.

"Annalise," I said under my breath.

She didn't say a word for a long minute before she suddenly launched her petite frame into my arms, her legs wrapping around my waist, her head burying in the crook of my neck.

I held her tight. I needed this hug just as much as she did. Like air. Like water. Like my woman.
