Chapter 36 Chapter Thirty-Five
2016
Alicia was in hysterics when Fletcher and Robert finally arrived. She fell into Fletchers arms for comfort while Robert ran straight through to the bedroom. He saw Addison’s phone on the floor.
“You’re not supposed to touch them. It’s a crime scene.” Fletcher reminded Robert. But he didn’t care. He picked up her phone and the photo that was still on the bed. They both looked at the photo but didn’t recognise him. He scrolled through Addison’s phone and found the photo she had found on the website. Robert put the two pictures together.
“That’s our killer. He was working at the school. Addison spoke to him when I interviewed Harry at the time. He knew who she was.” Robert said. Fletcher looked over Robert’s shoulder.
“Look at everything into his background, he goes by the name of Ian Evan’s, it could be a fake name. Find as connection between him and Addison.” Robert told Fletcher. Fletcher nodded and left the room to make some phone calls. Alicia sat in the kitchen with a hot cup of tea as she watched the boys work. They were running back and forth trying to figure out where this person had taken Addison.
“Phone the prison, we are going to be paying a visit to Alan.” Robert said as Fletcher came back into the room. He nodded and they both headed to the car as Fletcher made the call.
The prison didn’t have time to prepare for their arrival, so they had to empty a room for them to use. They arrived at the prison and the guard asked them to sign in on the guest book.
“Could I have a flick through the book to see who has been visiting Alan Reed?” Robert asked. The guard nodded and Robert started flicking through the pages until he stopped on one page. Fletcher looked over his shoulder.
“Ian Reed,”
“That’s Alan’s brother. Addison checked the system for him, but he died a few years ago. He obviously faked his death.” Robert told Fletcher.
The guard came back out and guided them to the room they had ready for them. They sat inside and waited for them to bring Alan Reed into the room. Fletcher kept looking at the time on his watch, wondering how much time they had to find Addison. He stopped pacing once he saw the guard bringing in Alan Reed. His hands were chained together. When Alan looked at Robert and Fletcher, a small smirk appeared on his lips. Robert charged at him and pinned him against the wall by the scruff of his blue jumpsuit.
“Where is she?” Robert yelled in his face.
The guard and Fletcher both tried to pull Robert away from Alan, there was a bit of a struggle, but Robert eventually released Alan. Fletcher held Robert to the side as Alan let out a loud laugh.
The guard grabbed Alan by the shoulder and pushed him into the seat at the table. Fletcher sat opposite but Robert carried on pacing up and down behind him.
“Ian Reed,” Fletcher started. Robert interrupted but slamming the photo of Ian on the table in front of Alan.
“We know about your brother. Now, tell us where he has taken Addison.” Robert demanded.
“You mean Madison?”
“Where is she?” He yelled louder.
“He was under her nose the whole time and she never figured it out. She doesn’t even remember her uncle. He’s met her so many times and even in court, while she stood as a witness.” Alan hissed.
“Where has he taken her.” Robert said calmly. Alan sat back in his chair and glanced over to the guard. He leaned across the table, looking Fletcher in the eye.
“He has probably taken her to where this all started.” Alan hinted. He didn’t say anything else and Fletcher looked up at Robert. Alan nodded over to the guard and he took him back out of the room, back to his cell.
“I think I might know. Me and Addison went through the files for her father’s case. Their mother committed suicide. Alan and Ian both found her like that, and I believe Ian may have taken Addison back to where she killed herself.” Fletcher suggested.
“Get the address.”
Fletcher nodded and started to make some phone calls. Robert glanced at the time on his watch. He listened as Fletcher asked for the address that once belonged to Shirley and Anthony Reed. Fletcher jotted the address down on the back of his hand and hung up.
“The house was left to Ian before his father left to move to America. I’ve got the address.” Fletcher said.
“Let’s go,” Robert and Fletcher both jumped back into the car and headed to the address that was given to them, hoping they will make it on time to save Addison.
