CHAPTER TWENTY

Patrick frowned lightly as he led he and Harley to a table. Since he picked her up at all, he had since realized that there was something wrong with her.

“You don’t look okay, what’s wrong with you?” Patrick asked as he sat down beside Harley.

“I’m fine” Harley replied as Patrick frowned.

“Harley I thought we are past that stage, tell me what is it?” Patrick asked as Harley gave him a small smile.

“I’ll explain to you later” Harley said as Patrick nodded.

“I hope it’s nothing serious?” Patrick asked and Harley shook her head.

“Not at all” Harley replied as Patrick nodded.

“You stay here, I’ll go and say hi to others on your behalf as well” Patrick said as Harley stood up.

“Let’s just go together” she said as he held onto Patrick’s arm for support.

“President Fedick” Patrick greeted as Mike Fedick smiled at him.

“Patrick how is you father?” he asked and Patrick smiled.

“He’s fine. These days, he’s busy touring the country with his wife” Patrick replied as everyone laughed.

“Miss Madison, you look slightly pale, I hope you are okay?” one of the men asked.

“Ha, she ate something bad so she’s not feeling too well” Patrick quickly replied.

“Ha, sorry. Do take care of her very well”

“Sure. Thant’s my job” Patrick said as he realized that there was another man beside the horde of old men and his eyes widened slightly upon recognition.

“President Wilson, it’s a pleasure to meet you. Patrick Kelvin” Patrick said as he stretched his hand towards Zane who glanced at his outstretched hand and then at his face before turning to President Fedick.

“President, I’ll be back” he said as the older man laughed and nodded.

“Don’t take a long time” he replied as Zane nodded, glanced at the duo before walking away, his strides long and elegant.

President Fedick patted Patrick on the shoulder “Don’t mind him. Zane has always been like that. When he comes back I’ll properly introduce the both of you” he said as Patrick withdrew his hand and shook his head.

“There’s no need” he said with a small smile as he bad the older men goodbye and walked away.

“If he’s in a bad mood, why take it out on me?” Patrick asked no one in particular.

Zane Wilson wasn’t just popular as one of the youngest CEO to exist but as many things. He was the dream man for a lot of women. While men his age like him inherited their family or father’s business, he had built his and was one of the biggest in the whole world. Just how was he able to achieve that feat?

“Are you also switching over to WE?” Patrick asked as Harley swallowed her saliva and turned to him.

“Why?” Harley asked as Patrick shrugged.

“I’m just curious since almost all the artistes from Anent is switching over to WE” Patrick replied as Harley pursed her lips and sighed.

“Why do I feel that whatever is going on is kind of big?” Patrick asked as Harley sighed.

“I didn’t trust someone enough and I had a misunderstanding about him. He tried to clear up the misunderstanding but I didn’t allow him to explain and now that I realize that I was wrong I had already cut off or connections” Harley replied as Patrick sighed.

“That happens a lot” Patrick said as Harley managed a small smile.

“Apologize” Patrick said as Harley turned to him.

“Apologise to the person. And you severed the connection bah?” Patrick asked as he shrugged.

“Then connect it back” Patrick added as Harley chuckled.

“I think he’s very mad at me” Harley replied as Patrick folded his arms.

“The misunderstanding is quite big?” Patrick asked and Harley nodded as she saw Dylan walk into the hall and speak to a few people.

“Dylan” Harley called as the latter turned to her and started walking towards her.

“You know Zane Wilson’s secretary?” Patrick asked in surprise as Dylan gave Harley a small nod.

“Where’s Zane?” Harley asked as Dylan sighed.

“I think its best if you don’t see him now” Dylan replied as Harley paled.

“Why? What’s going on?” Patrick asked as Dylan glanced at the other man and seeing the way Harley was holding his hand, he realized why his boss was getting even more mad.

“He’s not in the best of his mood. He could flip out at you and I don’t think you’ll like that” Dylan replied as Harley swallowed her saliva unable to say anything.

“Can I say something though?” Dylan said as Harley raised her head to him and smiled.

“Sure, go on.” She replied as Dylan sighed.

“He’s been a bad mood since you left. Two of the Directors already got fired just for changing the font of the document and because the font size was too small” Dylan started as he chuckled.

“I know it’s funny but that’s how much he’s pained and angry. He’s hurt as well. President Wilson’s life has always been private and no one else knows about his private matters. It’s only normal if you didn’t know he had a younger sister. But you didn’t let him explain and you jumped to conclusions. You didn’t even give him the least benefit of doubt, if I were him, I also would be very angry too. And I’m not supposed to say this but I’ll tell you just so you know what’s going on”

“President Wilson is the most indifferent person I’ve met in my entire life. He barely gives reactions to things and people only a few people. So when the person he trusts the most, doesn’t even gives him the benefit of doubt, you can imagine Joanne accusing you of doing something you didn’t do, imagine that kind of feeling and imagine what President Zane is feeling right now. And yes, for some reasons I can’t explain now, he’s feeling much worse” Dylan said as he sighed.

“Have a nice night Miss Madison” Dylan said as he bowed lightly and walked out of the room.

“Your matter is related to Zane Wilson?” Patrick asked as Harley pursed her lips while a bell rang off in Patrick’s head.

“The matter happened today, you misunderstood him?” Patrick asked and Harley nodded.

“You are so old yet you didn’t understand this?” Patrick asked as he shook his head.

“A closer look at that picture will easily make you understand that those two were not in the least lovers or whatsoever” Patrick said as Harley nodded.

“I know. I know I made a mistake but he won’t even hear me out now” Harley said as Patrick chuckled.

“Didn’t you hear what Dylan just said now? Give him time Harley. If you knew it would have come to this, you should have been patient and listened to him” Patrick said as Harley sighed.

“You won’t ask me anything?” Harley asked and Patrick smiled.

“These are your decisions and you are responsible for them. I have no say in your life. If you need my help, I’ll help you” Patrick replied with a smile and Harley turned around and held his hand tightly.

“Thanks Patrick” Harley said as Patrick laughed.

“No worries”

“Who was behind it?” Zane asked as Dylan sighed.

“President Andrew” Dylan replied and Zane barked into laughter.

“President Andrew?” Zane asked again and Dylan nodded.

“The man he had asked to follow you took the pictures. You had told us to let him be so weren’t guarded against him” Dylan replied as Zane nodded.

“It’s okay” Zane said as he brought the cigarette in his hands back to his mouth. White wisps of smoke filled the room and Dylan coughed lightly as Zane glanced at him though the corner of his eyes.

“I’m sorry” he said as he sighed and dropped the cigarettes in the ash tray.

“By tomorrow morning, both President Andrew and Anent, everything he has, I want it to disappear. Everything he has done, release it to the press” Zane said as Dylan’s eyes widened.

“President Wilson” Dylan called as Zane chuckled.

“Are yo going to question my decision?” Zane asked as Dylan shook his head.

“I dare not” he replied as Zane nodded.

“I want Anent gone before tomorrow morning, is that taken?” Zane asked as Dylan nodded.

“Yes sir” Dylan replied as Zane nodded.

“The car is downstairs” Dylan said reminding the other man.

“No worries. I’m not going home tonight. I’ll sleep in the office” Zane replied as Dylan swallowed his saliva.

“Then, good night sir” Dylan said as he walked out of the office.

Zane sighed as he slumped back into his chair. When he had nothing, he had felt a lot of things but he hadn’t felt this way in his entire life. He had never been so pained, so hurt like this. She didn’t even trust him a bit. She could have asked him directly and he would have explained. But his explanation, she wasn’t ready to listen to it.

It meant nothing to her in the first place.
