WE'VE MET.
WE'VE MET.
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
DIANA
"If I were you, I'd make it my mission to make Dylan regret what he did to me in the past. You should definitely make use of Chris to make him feel regret," Amanda as usual, was already spinning stories in her head.
No matter how many times I told her there was nothing going on between Chris and I, she seemed convinced that a new romance was going to bloom between us.
It just sounded crazy.
"I don't want to impress them, I just don't want to see them. Besides, Chris is trying to buy a land from him. That land is really important, I think.....we will be trying to get on his good sides this time," I said.
This made me even more nervous. Dylan was a man who liked to take advantage. Even if he would sell the land to Chris in the end, he would make sure that he made things difficult for him first.
What was worse, the other person who wanted to buy the land was Diego.
I was praying that we wouldn't encounter him over there, although, I didn't think it was possible for him and Chris to arrange a meeting with Dylan at the same time.
I just hoped we didn't cross parts, Chris and Diego's relationship was already bad enough, and I did not want to be caught in the middle of it once again.
".....you can get some new dresses, and show off the good life you're living. And there's Chris too, " I was forced back to the present by Amanda and her silly ideas.
"I have told you many times that there's nothing going on, when exactly are you going to drop this?" I shook my head as I asked her this.
"You are the only one who thinks so. Otherwise, why else would Chris have asked you to come to his house to pick him up so you can head to the airport together? You think you can't head to the airport yourself? It must be because he wants you over at his house and this is an excuse!"
I was sure that Amanda's stories would start robbing off on me if I continued to listen to her and so I picked up my suitcase and walked out of the house.
Perhaps, things wouldn't be as bad as I thought. Perhaps, Dylan would have forgotten about me over the months, and he wouldn't make things hard on me when we finally got to see each other.
.....
I stood in front of Chris' door and rang the doorbell, my suitcase by my side .
When there was no response after a few more minutes, I rang it a second time, and I was starting to get worried.
He could not have forgotten that we had a business trip to go on right?
I looked at the time as I presse the doorbell one more time.
There was only an hour more until we had to be at the airport, and we could not waste any more time.
"Damn it, what do you keep ringing for? It's so early in the morning...."
The door was pulled open from the inside, and I came face to face with a woman who froze as soon as she saw my face .
She was wearing only a bathrobe, and on her neck, they were some pretty visible bite marks.
My eyes dropped down to her face, and I recognised her immediately..
Swallowing a gulp, I remembered Cynthia, the so called mistress of Chris.
Seeing the flushed look on her face, it wasn't hard to figure out what she had been doing with Chris.
I swallowed a gulp because I felt my chest tightening. There had never been a point in my life when I thought that Chris had been celibate because I left him
However, why did my chest hurt so bad.
Cynthia leaned by the door as she looked at me, a caustic smile on her face
She pointed her finger at me, "you.....I'm sure that I've seen you before....I just can't remember where...." She said as she pointed at me.
I smiled wryly, I had a feeling that she remembered me well, and that she was just pretending.
"I am... "
"Who is at the door?" I heard Chris' voice, and soon, he appeared.
"What are you doing here so early?" He asked me, a frown on his face.
He too, was only wearing as bathrobe, and he seemed pissed at me for some reason.
"You asked me to come pick you up, we have to be at the airport in an hour," I reminded him dryly.
Did Chris ask me to come here just so I could see him and his mistress?
He ran a hand through his hair in frustration and cursed, and I could tell that Chris had forgotten.
"I had a bit too much to drink yesterday and things got out of hand, I'll be out soon," he said..
I felt like his words were some sort of explanation, but I did not get the chance to think too much about it as Chris had already turned his back to me and he was walking further into the house .
Soon, it was just Cynthia and I left alone once again, and the way she studied me made me feel uncomfortable.
However, since I was not willing to lose to her, I pulled my bag into the house with me and sat myself down on the couch.
"It'd not your house, how can you just walk in and sit down?" Cynthia asked as she followed after me.
"It's not your house, either, right?" I threw her words back at her.
She was delusional if she thought I was going to have some pissing contest with her over a house that belonged to none of us.
She snapped a finger in my face, "I can remember you now! You are Chris' new secretary. We met that day, at the club's bathroom!"
