HE HATES ME

HE HATES ME
CHAPTER NINETEEN

DIANA

"You have a good memory. It took you some time to figure out, " I said sarcastically.

"I can see you're still working for Chris. I thought a person like you would have been fired a long time ago," she sneered at me.

"The fact that I'm still here means that he's satisfied with my work so far," I replied .

"Don't think that you have a shot just because you work for him. There have been way too many women like you in the past and none of them had good endings. Chris has a rule, and he definitely doesn't mess around with the women he works with," Cynthia warned me .

Lifting my head, I was forced to confront the sneer on Cynthia's face. She was glaring at me like I was an enemy, and I wondered what I had done to all of these women to make them think that I was some sort of competition.

Did they really not see how much Chris hated me? I was sur that he could not wait to make me suffer badly.

"What are you talking about?" I asked, trying to keep my calm.

"Don't pretend to be dumb. I know women like you pretty well, you definitely have your eyes on your boss, but he's not going to be messing around with a woman like you, so get rid of those ideas before it gets out of hand. I can tell that you have some kind of history with him, but that is not going to change a thing!" Cynthia barked at me.

"You are mistaken if you think that I am the one you need to look out for," I said.

"What do you mean?" Cynthia had confusion on her face, and I wondered if she did not know about Slyvia.

I shrugged, "I don't mean anything, there are so many women around, so maybe don't waste your time going after someone who's not a threat," I said.

I could have said something about Slyvia, but I didn't. Why should I help a woman like Cynthia?

Besides....I really didn't like the fact that she had slept with Chris!

It drove me mad with anger whenever I thought about it!

......

"We will be meeting Dylan at the Carlton hotel, it's one of the most prestigious hotels in this city, I am sure you must have heard about it," I sat in the back of the car with Chris as the driver drove smoothly.

Immediately we arrived in the city,we had to leave. I didn't even get the chance to rest, Chris said it was an important land to him, and he had to get his hands on it no matter what.

"Dylan has just taken over the company after his brother's death, and he needs to prove to the shareholders that he can run the company well. He needs to sell the land and he also needs to make the right connections along the way, so it's going to be a tough call. I headed that he's a pretty haughty person, and so I don't need you to say anything while we are there. Just keep your head down and your eyes open," Chris instructed me.

"Just haughty? Ha, Dylan is an arrogant person who thinks he's above everyone else," I muttered, and this time, I didn't hide my bitterness towards him fast enough .

Just thinking about all of the things he did to me was enough to make me stew in hate for the longest time.

"I thought you said you knew nothing about Dylan."

Chris suspicious gaze was on me, and I cleared my throat .

"Well, I heard some stories since I lived here. I heard that he was arrogant and reckless and James told me a few times that he was always causing trouble that be had to clean up for him," I said.

This was also true. Dylan had been an absolute asshole who always created messes that James had to clean up.

A few times, James had taken out his frustrating from dealing with his brother on me.

Chris looked at me, and it made me feel that he was trying to figure out if I was lying.

My heart raced fast against my chest, and I hoped that he really would not ask me any more questions.

I did not have anything else that I wanted to say to him.

"I see," Chris said.

I let out a breath that I had been holding, and Chris went back to talking about Dylan.

"Since he knows you, I hope that he will lean more towards me because of you, that's why you are here," Chris said plainly.

He did not bother to hide the fact that he was going to use me, and although it was supposed to make me feel bad, it didn't.

I just felt that it was useless.

"If you wanted to make a good impression on him, then you really should not have brought me," I said.

"Why?"

"Because my ex brother in law hates me!"

......

Someone led us to a private room as soon as we arrived at the Carlton hotel.

It was a face I was familiar with, the manager of the hotel, since James had brought me here a lot of times when he was alive. It was one of the ways he showed off being a good husband to the rest of the world.

However, I pretended not to recognise the manager.

Seriously, I wanted to rid myself of all memories that I had of this place.

Chris realized something was wrong, and he pulled me close to himself.

Then, he lifted a hand and knocked on the door of the private room.

Just one knock, and Chris was already pushing the door and pulling me in with him.

"Mr. Langston! You are here!" That familiar voice hit me from all sides of the room, and I froze by Chris' side.

The smile fell off Dylan's face as he recognized me, and his sharp demonic eyes were glaring at me once again.

"Why the heck are you here?!"
