Chapter 37
Ivy looked in Drake's direction as Quinn pulled her away from him. She was concerned there was something sinister planned tonight. She was worried Drake knew something and she was going to find out in the worst way possible. She was scared, she swallowed the lump in her throat and tried to act like herself but even Quinn knew something was up.
“Don’t worry Ivy there are only our Dwellers here, the White Dwellers cannot come here not unless they want to die.” He said pulling her closer to him. “I’ll kill them if they try and take you from me.”
“I have a bad feeling being here with you.” She said trying to pull away from him. “Can you let me walk on my own?”
“Now why would I do that?” he said tightening his grip. “I want to show everyone you belong to me, and I want them to see that you are loving all this attention.” He smiled.
“Well one I cannot breathe and two you are not showing them anything when I do not like this, you are showing them that this is forcing me to deal with you.” She snapped. “Now release me before I show them that you are forcing me.”
“Don’t cause a scene, I will make this party into something that you will regret, and you know I will keep my word.” He warned. “Don’t worry we are almost to our table once we are there, you are going to be allowed to sit by yourself. When we are approached you are to keep your mouth shut if you utter one word I will pull out your tongue.”
“I’m going to have to test you on that.” Ivy snapped. “Maybe one of these people will see you for who you are.” She growled.
“They already know who I am.” Quinn chuckled. “Why do you think I have so much power?” he said pulling out a seat. “Sit down.”
Ivy did what she was told; she wouldn’t push him at least not yet. She wasn’t scared of him right now. She watched Quinn go and talk to other people. Drake sat down at the table with her, he didn’t say anything. He put his hands on the table and closed his eyes; it was like he was communicating with someone or something.
Ivy started to get up.
“Don’t,” Drake said opening his eyes. “Quinn will get to you before you even moved two feet. He knows what you want to do, that extra security is for you. He knows you are planning to escape here.”
“Yeah well I have to try don't I?” Ivy challenged, she wanted to try. She couldn’t just sit here and do nothing this was crazy. She wanted to run as fast as she could. She didn’t want to sit here and wait for someone to see that she was in distress.
“It’s not a good time Ivy.” He said looking at her. “Please don’t.”
“Drake I need to get out of here, this place, him I don’t want to have more children with him.” She said looking towards Quinn. “He is going to force himself on me tonight after the party; I am not going to let him near me.”
“I am not going to let him do that to you, Ivy, I will kill him before,” Drake said looking away from her. “Let him get drunk and do his thing, if you try and escape he will take you away early and do what he plans to do. If you don’t and let him do what he wants then he will be here all night and then he will be too drunk to want to do anything.”
“Fine.” She said leaning back in her chair. “So why don’t you go and get something to drink and eat, I’m starving,”
“Fine but don’t move,” Drake said standing up. “I’ll be right back, please don’t move.” He said touching her face. “You will do us both a great deal if you listen to me for a change.”
“Don’t worry I won't leave or move.” She said watching him go towards Quinn.
Quinn looked at Drake and then Ivy; he nodded his head and went back to talking with the two he was talking to.
Ivy watched as everyone else seemed to not care who she was, she knew she could probably get up and disappear in the crowd. She knew Drake was probably right about what he said about Quinn and him getting drunk and him forgetting about having sex with her. She couldn’t bring herself to seeing him naked. It made her sick to think about that.
“Here,” Drake said handing her a soda; he sat a plate of food down in front of her. “They are cooking up some food, but this will have to do for now.”
“Thanks.” She said looking down at the sandwich he made for her.
“I see you are still debating whether to run or not,” Drake said getting a little closer to her. “Don’t Ivy I promise you this is going to be a mistake.”
“How do you know what I am thinking about?” she said looking at him. “I haven’t said anything, and I haven’t moved.”
“Because it’s all over your face, and I can tell just the way you are looking around. Do you think Quinn hasn’t noticed? He has already told the guards to watch you closer.” He said leaning back. “He is expecting you to move swiftly, he wants you to try.”
“So, he wants to make a game out of this, or he wants to try anyway?” She said picking up the sandwich. “Maybe I should give into him and see how much of a game he wants?”
“I told you before you should let him get drunk, otherwise he is going to force you,” Drake said touching her hand. “Ivy there is a plan in place, trust me please.”
“I have a feeling he is going to get what he wants whether or not he is drunk.” She said chewing her sandwich. “Why don’t you go and get me a knife, that way when he is raping me, I can kill the bastard at least then I can get my revenge that way, and if there is a baby produced I know I did something right.” She said looking at Quinn. “He isn’t going to live through anything he does to me, and I am going to make sure he knows this.”
“He knows everything about you Ivy, he’s seen everything you are planning,” Drake said tapping on the table. “He knows everything that you have planned, everything that you will do.”
“I don’t understand how he knows or thinks he knows what I have planned,” Ivy said looking at him. “What does he think I am planning to do while we’re here?”
“I don’t know, but he thinks you are going to do something here, otherwise he wouldn’t have the security he has near you.” He said looking at the two standing close to her. “I am sure he thinks you are going to try and run for the door.”
“But this stupid necklace, isn’t it supposed to keep me trapped?” she said looking down at it.
“Only in our city does that work,” Drake said looking at her. “But when we’re here, it doesn’t work.” He said looking at Quinn. “Don’t tell him I told you, otherwise we’re going to be in trouble, even though I am sure he already knows you know. He is a smart leader, which is why he knows a lot about us, and about you.”
Ivy put the sandwich down, she wanted to test Quinn and see how much she could push him, she knew he would hurt her but at the moment she didn’t care. But first, she needed a bathroom break. “I want to know more about me too,” Ivy said standing up. “I want him to tell me more about me.”
“Where are you going,” Drake said getting to his feet.
“I need to use the bathroom, why don’t you show me where it is. You two can come too.” She said looking at the two men that took steps towards her. “I’ll even let you wipe my ass if that will make you feel better.” She snapped.
Drake put his hand out to stop the two from grabbing her, “Guys don’t worry, I’ll take her.” Drake said rolling his eyes.
“Quinn said we have to follow her; she is full of tricks.” One of them spoke. “We are going to die because you lost her.”
“Don’t worry I just need to use the bathroom,” Ivy said walking away from the table. She felt like she was important having someone following her everywhere. No one paid much mind to her as they walked through the crowded area. She felt safe with Drake, but the other two just made her feel like she was a prisoner. She hated Quinn, she wanted to see him dead, whether or not she was the one to kill him, and she would love to see him gasping for air before he died.
Drake led her to the bathroom, he grabbed her arm. “Please just use the bathroom; I don’t want Quinn pissed at you and on the warpath because you wanted to play a game.” He said before allowed her to go into the bathroom.
Ivy knew Drake didn’t want her leaving, but she had to figure out how to get out of there. Drake made the mistake of telling her the necklace only worked in their city, so she had to try to disappear; she wondered how long she would be able to run before Quinn would find her. Would she be able to find Nick before Quinn found her?
She was happy Quinn was unable to find her son, which made it easier for her to want to run again. Sitting down on the toilet she did her business, she wanted to run but she wouldn’t tonight, she would play nice. Maybe if Quinn relaxed his hold on her and she gained his trust things would lighten up a little.
She knew taking this chance limited her ability and made it more likely that she would end up pregnant again, and this wasn’t something she wanted. She was scared to have another child and be locked in a city and not have the power to get out. The city was nice, but it wasn’t where she wanted to be. She wanted to be a kid again, she wanted to go to school and be the invisible one. The one person that no one cared about and the one that people hated the least. She wished her parents were still alive, she wanted to know what she was, and why her parents would have told her more about herself so she could have planned her life a little better. Now she was in this world and no one to turn to. Nick was nowhere to be found, and she was alone, she was supposed to be with Drake for one and a half years, but that was months ago that was supposed to be done, and she was supposed to be with Nick now. She hated everything the lies, the stories, everything was messed. She was closed off to the world. She trusted no one.
Closing her eyes, she thought about her options again, leave now and run and hope she could keep running, or gain Quinn’s trust and possibly end up pregnant within a couple of weeks?
Taking a deep breath, she got off the toilet and went and washed her hands. Someone grabbed her behind and in a blink of an eye, she was somewhere else. They were in a dark room.
“Let me go!” she growled struggling to get free, but the person was stronger than her, he forced her to the ground, getting on top of her. She felt a sting in her neck. A warm liquid was injected, and unconsciousness set in.
