Chapter 129
Anna’s POV:
How’s that? Can’t take it anymore?” Blake’s mocking tone cut through the air.
“You knew I was in a bad mood, yet you came here talking about diverce,” Blake continued, his voice laced with bitterness. “What kind of response did you expect? If Lillian was the one lying in this Hospital bed, you would-
“Shut up!” I snapped, my voice sharper than I intended. “Don’t you re mention my mother! If you hadn’t threatened BlueWave, she wouldn’t have been so stressed and ended in

that accident!”
I pushed away from him, struggling to my feet. My hands were shaking so badly I couldn’t manage the simple task of fastening my buttons. Damn it.
Blake’s expression shifted from mockery to something darker–disappointment, perhaps. “So you’ve been blaming me for BlueWave’s troubles all along.”
He let out a humorless laugh. “As your husband, if it makes you feel better to blame me, fine. But have you ever truly treated me as your husband? You called me, made me fly for over hours to pick you up.”
His eyes narrowed. “If you wanted to play me, to manipulate me, you should have just let me die beneath you. At least that would’ve
shown some skill.”
I felt the air growing thinner with each breath.
“You accuse me of only wanting you because you were ‘fresh,“” Blake continued, “but weren’t you after the same thing with me? Could you be as uninhibited with anyone else as you were with me? We were both playing games. I didn’t threaten suicide when you played me, so why are you so damaged that you need a divorce?”
The truth in his words squeezed my chest. That was exactly it–I couldn’t control my feelings during our “game.” I couldn’t be ruthless toward Blake or even toward myself. And now I was trapped, with no way forward or back.
It wasn’t fair. I had loved him for years. He had never loved me.
“Why do I want a divorce?” I asked quietly. “Don’t you know?”
Blake’s face hardened. “Know or not, what difference does it make? Anna, you’re Mrs. Wright, permanently Mrs. Wright. Isn’t that enough? You want a career? Being Mrs. Wright will make everything twice as easy. Whatever you want is yours for the taking!”
He shook his head, contempt clear in his eyes. “Anna, you’re just… not getting it! You’re being stupid!”
Stupid. The word echoed in my mind.
I almost smiled at his words. ‘Fine, I’ll be stupid. At least I can cut my losses now.‘
“Blake,” I said, forcing a smile, “I won’t be stupid for you anymore. All I’m going to do is ‘try everything to divorce you,‘ right?”
His face contorted with anger. “Who told you to ‘try everything to divorce me‘? Why don’t you just say you want me dead beneath you!”
smile.
I couldn’t do this anymore. I gave him a bitter smile.
“About that photo,” I said. “I don’t care if you were involved or not, but I’ve already taken Claire to the police station. This is the recording I made when I confronted her in her hospital room.”

Chapter 129
I tossed a voice recorder onto his bed.
“Believe it or not, if you still want to bail her out after listening to is, I have nothing more to say. But as long as she exists in this world, she’s destined to face motal condemnation.”
What did you say?” Blake immediately sat up straight when he heard Claire’s name, grabbing the recorder I’d thrown onto the bed “What happened to Claire? Explain yourself!”
“Nothing happened,” I replied wearily. “Exactly what I said–she’s at the police station.”
I couldn’t help but laugh at his obvious concern for her. The irony was painful. “I’d like to know, what will it take for you to let me go? Or let me put it another way–if you divorce me, I’ll leave Claire alone.”
