Chapter 23 Never!
His eyes filled with desire and something else I couldn't quite put my hands on.
I stood up just before he reached my desk. Without warning, his lips crashed into mine.
His kiss was intense, his tongue exploring my mouth as he groaned softly. His hand tangled in my hair, sending shivers down my spine. Moments later, I felt his grip on my waist, pulling me closer, his fingers squeezing gently. My lips ached from the fervor of our kiss.
He cupped my face, and that was when I began to kiss him back. But deep down, I realized it was all for him. So I let him lead.
He pulled back, his gaze fixed on mine. “You're mine, Shimma. I won’t share you with anyone. If anyone tries to take you from me, I’ll rip them to pieces.” His words stunned me, leaving me breathless.
Why would he say that so suddenly? The intensity in his voice made it clear he meant every word.
MR. MATTIAS
I acted on impulse. My emotions had gotten the best of me, but why do I feel this way?
“Are you okay?” Shimma’s voice broke through my chaotic thoughts. Her wide eyes searched mine for answers, confusion and concern flickering across her face.
“I… I’m fine,” I stammered, trying to steady my racing heart.
“Just caught up in the moment, I guess.” I offered a warm smile, though it felt forced.
“Caught up in the moment?” she echoed, her brows knitting together. “That was intense, Mattias.”
“Intense?” I chuckled, though it came out more like a growl.
“That’s one way to put it.”
“Do you mean what you said?” she asked softly, her gaze steady on mine. “About not sharing me?”
I stepped back, running a hand through my hair, trying to regain my composure.
“I mean every word, Shimma. You don’t understand how much you mean to me.”
Her cheeks flushed, but before she could respond, the door swung open. Lucas stood there, his eyes locking onto mine before shifting to Shimma.
“Why haven't you gone home yet?” I asked, my voice firm. Lucas said nothing but turned to leave, slamming the door behind him.
I knew he would come looking for her, even after I’d asked him not to.
“Uh, I was about to tell you, Lucas asked me out to dinner this evening,” Shimma said hesitantly.
“Let’s go home, Shimma. You’re not going anywhere,” I replied, stepping toward the door and opening it for her. As she walked past, I shut it firmly behind us.
LUCAS'S POV
Just when I was about to speak to Shimma in her office, I walked in and saw Mattias with her again. My heart sank. He wouldn’t even give me a chance to talk to her.
He’s always with her.
“Why haven’t you gone home?” he asked, but I ignored him, turning to leave.
I stormed back to my office, running my hands through my hair in frustration.
What the hell is his problem? He says Shimma is only his best friend’s daughter. Why won’t he let me get close to her?
Something feels off, and it bothers me more than I can say. I want her. I felt it the first time I saw her step out of her car, the moment our eyes met. My heart raced in a way it never had before.
I really want to get to know Shimma. But Mattias—he won’t let me. Who is he to dictate who I can be close to? I know he’s the boss, but that doesn’t mean he can control my life. I won’t let him do that. Never.
SHIMMA'S POV.
Mr Mattias drove me home. I didn't even get the chance to drive my new car.(sigh)
Mr Mattias said nothing to me in the car. He was always like that, He hardly says much.
He pulled up in front of my gate. While we both waited for my gate guard to open the gate. He turned to me, his eyes glimming, his lips curved into a smirk, and slowly he bent to kiss my lips.
I was about to take his lips when the realization hit me. I was fucking parked in front of my house. Already, the gate guards had opened the gate, and there was an eighty percent chance of the guards seeing what would have happened.
Yes! What would have happened, because, before his lips met with mine, I gasped, quickly pulling back.
Mr Mattias' eyes narrowed in worry.
“What's wron…..,”
“You almost kissed me….in front of my house,” I mumbled. Mr Mattias turned to face my house. My mum stepped out of our exit door. I could see a wide grin spread across her lips.
“I guess I got so carried away,” Mr Mattias mumbled softly. I giggled as he proceeded to drive us inside my compound.
I turned to see if any of the guards saw us. But two of them were busy discussing. I sighed in relief, turning back to my mother who was already close to the car.
“Look, who's home,” My Mum said as I stepped out of the car. I watched her grin fade as it got replaced by a worry frown.
“Your car, you didn't come with your car?“ She asked.
“It's late, I didn't want her driving this late,” Mr Mattias said. I smiled, nodding at my mother.
“Oh, okay. Mattias, why don't you stay for dinner,” Mr Mother said.
“Uh, thank you Mrs Anna, but I'll head home now, I don't want to get stuck in traffic,” Mr Mattias said.
“Okay, that's fine, thank you for dropping Shimma off, I hope she is doing great at work?“ My mum asked.
“Sure, she is a quick learner,” Mr Mattias said with a smile. I could see how excited my mother was. From the way she spoke. Her body language. Everything.
I watched Mr Mattias drive out of our compound. Sadly. I was already missing him. I wish I could stay with him all day. He might not be much of a conversationist, but his presence alone means a lot to me.
With a sad face, I walked back inside.
“Go freshen up, I made dinner,” My mother mumbled.
“What about dad?“ I asked, looking around. I didn't see his car parked outside.
“Oh, your dad, he's not yet back from work, he might be stuck in traffic, I don't know, I'll just call to check. Now go freshen up,” My Mum rumbled. There was something weird about the way she reacted to my question. But I let it slide, because I was so! Exhausted.
I walked up to my room. Taking out my clothes as I walked straight to the bathroom. After my bath, I changed into my pyjamas. I was about to head downstairs when my phone rang.
I walked back to my bed, wondering who it was. I picked up the phone as the name on the screen made me gasp….
