Chapter 235 Control Yourself
Tristan was disappointed in Gemma, "Fine, if you want to keep dreaming, suit yourself."
"Dr. Smith said your upcoming treatment requires hot springs. It's not convenient to treat you here. The hot spring villa has been renovated, and I'll arrange for you to go there."
Gemma said coldly, "I can go, but you can't stop your father from seeing me."
She had waited so many years and finally got Owen to regret his actions - there was no way she would play hard to get now!
In other words, she could give up on Tristan, but she would never give up on Owen!
Owen was her dream, and even more so, her obsession!
Tristan almost laughed in anger, "If you want to debase yourself, suit yourself. But don't let him set foot in here again, or he'll dirty my place!"
Harriet noticed something was off with Tristan and asked Ryder about it to find out what happened.
"Mrs. Lancaster, what do you think about this?" Ryder asked curiously.
"I'm staying out of it." Harriet continued flipping through her book, "Although I'm Tristan's wife, I keep my distance from Gemma as a mother-in-law. If she doesn't bother me, I definitely won't meddle in her business."
"But shouldn't you at least comfort Mr. Lancaster?"
"Your Mr. Lancaster is way stronger mentally than I am - he doesn't need comforting."
"True." Ryder said, "Then do you think Mr. Lancaster should let the Lancaster Group off the hook?"
"Ryder, we don't have any beef, right? Why are you trying to trap me?" Harriet looked exasperated, "If I say don't let them off, won't Tristan's mom hate me to death?"
"But if I say let them off, haven't you forgotten that Tristan is targeting the Lancaster Group because of Griffin? How can I say something that sides with Griffin? Won't Tristan get jealous?"
Staying out of other people's business might sound cold, but meddling often isn't a good thing.
It can even harm both others and yourself.
Ryder chuckled, "You're right. Whatever choice you make would be wrong, so staying out of it is best."
That evening, after her shower, Harriet sat at her vanity applying skincare products.
She turned to look at Tristan, who was leaning against the headboard reading, and said gently, "Tristan, I need to go abroad in a couple of days."
Tristan frowned, "Why so suddenly?"
"There's some work abroad that needs handling. I'll probably be gone for ten days to two weeks."
Tristan was reluctant, "I'll go with you."
"No need." Harriet came to sit on the bed, "Although the Romanov family has backed off, the impact they had on Apex Global Group is definitely still there. You should stay in Emberfall to work and stabilize the company. Niamh can go with me."
Worried he might not feel at ease, she added, "If you're really concerned, just arrange a couple of capable bodyguards to go with me."
"Apex Global Group doesn't have anything major going on. I have time to go with you." Tristan insisted.
Being apart for ten days to two weeks - he definitely couldn't handle that. No matter how important the work, it couldn't compare to being with her.
"Be good." Harriet patted his head, "I can take care of myself, and I'm really just going for work - there won't be any danger."
"If you follow me around every step, that's really making a big deal out of nothing. I don't want you to neglect your work because of me."
"The best state for a married couple is for each to work hard and meet at the top."
Tristan had no choice but to agree, "Then you go first, and I'll come see you when I can."
Harriet smiled brightly, "I'm only going for a few days - don't be so clingy. Besides, I want you to stay in Emberfall because I have something to ask of you."
"Tell me."
"Although the Romanov family isn't pursuing Lark's death anymore, I've been feeling uneasy these past few days. I'm still worried they might retaliate against people close to me."
"Don't worry, I'll secretly arrange for people to protect Mr. Jones and your uncle."
Harriet nodded, "Besides Mr. Jones and Uncle Jasper, there's one more person - please make sure you protect her for me."
"Who?"
"Dr. Smith." Harriet thought for a moment, then said, "Dr. Smith is a very important person to me. While I'm gone, please make sure to protect her safety and don't let anyone hurt her."
Tristan smiled and stroked her hair, "After treating you for three months, you've developed feelings for her?"
"Yes, she's my lifesaver, so you must promise me, okay?"
"Okay." Tristan said, "I'll arrange more people at the hot spring villa to protect her."
"Thank you."
Tristan raised his hand to caress her beautiful face, his Adam's apple bobbing as he said in a low voice, "If you're thanking me, shouldn't you show some actual appreciation?"
Harriet suppressed a smile, reached out to poke his chest, and advised earnestly, "Mr. Lancaster, you need to show some restraint."
"My wife is so wonderful, I really can't restrain myself."
Tristan took her hand and kissed her lips.
It wasn't until late at night that everything finally stopped.
Harriet was exhausted.
Tristan carried her to the bathroom for a bath.
Harriet was too tired to even speak, letting him do as he pleased.
After the bath, she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
A good night's sleep.
Two days later, Gemma and Ondine went to the hot spring villa for treatment.
Tristan originally wanted to arrange more people to take care of them, but Ondine preferred quiet, so besides Uma, he only arranged one other servant for cleaning and cooking.
There were quite a few bodyguards outside protecting their safety.
Harriet's flight left that evening. Tristan took her to the airport and was reluctant to part.
"Remember to call me every day."
"You've said that many times already." Harriet smiled and pinched his face, "Mr. Lancaster is too clingy."
"Being clingy with my wife isn't embarrassing." Tristan held her, "You said at most two weeks - you must come back, or I'll come find you."
"Definitely." Harriet reminded him, "Don't forget what I asked you to do."
"Don't worry, Dr. Smith won't lose a single hair." Tristan lifted her hand and kissed it, "Take care of yourself."
"Don't worry, Niamh will be there, and you've arranged bodyguards to protect me too."
"Good." Tristan reluctantly let go of her hand, "Go on in."
"I'm going."
Harriet stood on her tiptoes, kissed the corner of his lips, and turned to leave.
Tristan watched her back until she passed through security before leaving.
Harriet really was going for work. After landing and resting at the hotel for a night, she started on business the next day.
She would call Tristan morning and night, but Tristan would still call the bodyguards to check.
"Mrs. Lancaster went into an estate today. Security was really tight - everyone entering or leaving had to be checked for dangerous items."
"And we two bodyguards couldn't go in, only Niamh could accompany her. After about an hour, the two of them came out."
"I heard a gardener mention that the owner of the estate seems to be a young single man."
