Chapter 234 I Miss You
"Why can't I come?" Owen held a bouquet of lilies in his hands. "Gemma, we're husband and wife. It's perfectly normal for me to visit you. I remember you like lilies, so I specially bought you a bouquet. Do you like it?"
Gemma was stunned. "Since my accident, in over twenty years, this is the first time you've bought me flowers."
"It's my fault," Owen put the lilies in a nearby vase. "If you like them, I'll buy them for you every day from now on, okay?"
Gemma collected herself and said coldly, "You have so many women out there, you're too busy to handle them all. How would you even think of buying flowers to visit me?"
Owen sat down on the bed, held her hand, and spoke with a remorseful expression. "Gemma, I've been terrible all these years. Can you give me one more chance?"
Gemma sneered, "I don't deserve such words."
Owen continued pleading, "We're husband and wife. I'm begging you, please give me one more chance, okay?"
Gemma spoke calmly, "Look at the state I'm in now. How can you say such things?"
"Isn't Dr. Smith treating you? Once you're better, I'll cut off contact with all those women and come home to live a good life with you." Owen lowered his head and kissed her hand. "Gemma, we're at this age now. It's time we held hands and spent our remaining years together."
Tears instantly welled up in Gemma's eyes. "Are you telling the truth?"
"Of course it's true." Owen raised his hand to caress her face. "If you don't believe me, let me prove it to you."
Owen climbed onto the bed, kissing her while undressing her.
Gemma was completely stunned.
Although she was paralyzed, she still had needs as a woman.
During countless long nights, she could only silently cry while enduring the torment of physical desire.
She didn't even have the ability to relieve herself with her own hands.
After some light kissing, Owen pulled out a condom from his pocket.
Gemma frowned, the haze in her eyes clearing somewhat. "Why are you carrying that around? Were you planning to use it with some other woman?"
"I brought it specially to use with you." Owen said urgently, "Gemma, I've missed you."
Gemma's heart completely melted.
Before long, Owen climbed off Gemma and pulled out a cigar to light.
Gemma wasn't satisfied yet and complained playfully, "Your stamina has gotten much worse. Back in the day, you couldn't finish in less than an hour. All these years of playing around with women have ruined your body!"
"Nonsense. I was worried Tristan might suddenly come in, so I had psychological pressure and ended it quickly." Owen smoked his cigar while helping her get dressed. "You dare question me? Next time I'll make you scream until your voice goes hoarse!"
Gemma instantly burst out laughing.
Owen took a puff of his cigar and spoke, "Gemma, we're family. Everything before was my fault. I'll make it up to you from now on."
Gemma said proudly, "We'll see how you perform."
Owen sighed, "Our marital problems before weren't good for the kids either. Tristan has been targeting the Lancaster Group, and it's been mutually destructive."
"When the Lancaster family fights among itself, outsiders benefit. It really shouldn't be this way."
"Now that we've made up, this internal fighting should stop. I've thought it through—once Tristan stops going after the Lancaster Group, I'll split half my shares with you. Then we can retire in peace. I'll take you to travel the world. How does that sound?"
Gemma was full of hope. "Owen, are you serious? You're not lying to me?"
"How could I lie to you?" Owen looked serious. "If I'm lying to you, may I die a terrible death!"
"Don't say things like that!" Gemma said urgently. "I can't bear to let you die."
Owen laughed, "If you're really worried, when I transfer the shares to you, you'll have something real in your hands, and then you'll naturally believe me."
"I've never wanted the shares. What I want is you—your person and your heart."
"They're all yours," Owen promised affectionately. "From now on, I'll belong only to you."
Gemma was moved to tears. "I'll talk to Tristan and tell him not to make things difficult for the Lancaster Group. We're the real family."
"That's right."
The next morning.
When Tristan arrived, Uma was feeding Gemma breakfast.
"Tristan, good morning."
"You're in a good mood." Tristan said flatly.
"My health is improving, so naturally I'm in a good mood." Gemma said with a smile.
"I'm afraid it's not just that, is it?" Tristan looked at her. "I took Harriet out to dinner last night and came back late. I heard Owen came to see you?"
"Yes." Gemma thought of last night's sweetness and her heart couldn't help but race. "He came specially to see me."
"Tristan, your father knows he was wrong. He said once I'm better, he'll cut ties with all those women outside and spend the rest of his life with me."
Tristan actually laughed in anger. "And you believe what he says?"
"He wouldn't lie to me." Gemma said seriously. "To show his sincerity, he even offered to give me half of his Lancaster Group shares."
Tristan sneered, "The Lancaster Group's assets have seriously shrunk. The shares he holds aren't worth much money."
"That's why you need to stop targeting the Lancaster Group." Gemma urged. "We're family."
"After you back off and the Lancaster Group recovers, my health should be better too. Then I'll return to the Lancaster family and live a good life with Owen. Our family can truly be reunited."
"Who told you he's my father?" Tristan said coldly. "Has your brain gone to waste from lying around? Can't you see he's just using you to convince me to leave the Lancaster Group alone?"
The smile on Gemma's face instantly froze.
She defended, "Tristan, how can you think so badly of Owen? You're father and son after all. You can't keep fighting each other like this."
"It's precisely because he has no resources left to fight me that he's targeting you." Tristan sneered. "Think about it—the women he has outside are all attractive, young and beautiful. How could he suddenly have a change of heart and come back to live with you?"
"Tristan, are you putting me down?"
"I just hope you face reality. You're already fifty years old. Can you not be so naive?"
Gemma was humiliated and angry, tears in her eyes. "Fine, let's say I'm naive. So what?"
"Is it wrong that I want my husband to come back to me? Is it wrong that I don't want you and your father to destroy each other?"
"Tristan, don't you love Harriet? Shouldn't you be the person in this world who understands me best? When you love someone, how can you just let go like that?"
