Chapter 202 Fear of Gain and Loss

Chapter 202 Fear of Gain and Loss

Twenty minutes later, Harriet was pressed against the glass by Tristan, taken forcefully from behind.

Only then did Harriet understand what he meant by "satisfy you."

She knew it—the two times he'd been gentle with her last night weren't enough!

The sunlight was so harsh that Harriet couldn't open her eyes.

Harriet squinted, the buildings in her vision blurring along with her willpower, surrendering to Tristan's forceful and fierce movements...

At some point, someone knocked on the office door.

Harriet's whole body tensed, making Tristan behind her shudder!

"Tristan! There's... someone..."

Tristan gripped her waist, taking her fiercely!"Harriet, one day I'm going to die on top of you!"

The person outside didn't barge in like Quinlan would have. After knocking for a while with no response, they stopped.

Harriet breathed a sigh of relief, biting her lower lip as she endured Tristan's fierce assault...

Afterward, Harriet had no strength left and collapsed on the sofa.

Tristan, on the other hand, started working with renewed energy.

"Stay here with me today, okay?"

Harriet refused, "I need to go home."

"I'll go with you."

"No need, you work."

"Then I'll come over after work."

After resting for a bit, Harriet went straight back to Lakeside Gardens.

As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, Griffin's door opened.

"Harriet." Griffin called out to her. "I've been waiting for you. Can we sit down and talk?"

Harriet stopped. "Whatever you have to say, say it here."

"I heard you worked with the police last night and caught Opal. You weren't hurt, were you?"

"No."

After a moment of silence, Griffin asked again, "You and Tristan got back together, right?"

"Yes." Harriet said calmly. "Griffin, you should move out. Let's not see each other anymore. If you can't bear to leave this place, then I'll move."

"Harriet, do you hate me that much?" Griffin looked at her, confused. "Even if you don't have romantic feelings for me, can't we still be friends? Didn't you say your grandmother always hoped we'd look out for each other?"

Harriet turned to look at him seriously. "Do you think after you developed romantic feelings for me, things between us could still be like before?"

"Especially that ridiculous diary of yours—it caused damage to Tristan and me that can never be erased!" Harriet pressed her lips together tightly. "Griffin, you know how much pain I was in these past two years. You watched it happen but wouldn't tell me the truth. If you had just told me, I wouldn't have suffered so much!"

"Harriet, I'm not a saint." Griffin said with difficulty. "I also hoped I might have a chance to replace Tristan and be by your side. What's wrong with that?"

"Yes, at the end of the day, Tristan and I didn't trust each other enough, which is why we were tortured by a fake diary for two whole years." Harriet smiled bitterly. "Now, it's time for all of this to end. I'm giving you the choice—will you move, or should I?"

"You don't need to go through the trouble." Griffin looked at her. "I'll move."

"Okay."

Harriet didn't say anything more and turned to leave.

Perhaps because she hadn't slept well last night, her head hurt a bit, so she went straight to take a nap.

When she woke up again, it was already dark.

Harriet picked up her phone and realized she'd put it on silent. There were several missed calls, all from Tristan.

Just as Harriet was about to call him back, he called again.

Harriet answered immediately. "Tristan."

"Open the door."

Harriet got up right away and went to open the door.

Tristan stood outside, with quite a few cigarette butts already on the ground.

"Have you been here long?"

"Yes."

"I fell asleep and had my phone on silent."

Tristan suddenly hugged her tightly.

"Harriet." Tristan's low, strained voice sounded in her ear. "I thought last night was a dream, thought you didn't want me again."

Harriet's heart trembled, speeding up uncontrollably, but then a sharp pain spread through it.

Tristan was born proud and noble. She never expected he would have such an insecure side.

"How could that be?" Her heart ached terribly. "I won't stop wanting you."

Tristan released her and lowered his head to kiss her lips.

Harriet closed her eyes and responded to him gently.

The two kissed passionately, but before long, an untimely sound interrupted the intimate atmosphere.

Amusement flickered in Tristan's eyes. "You're hungry?"

"Yes."

"Let's eat first."

"Okay."

There was no food prepared at home, but Harriet had been exhausted by their sex life last night and this morning and really didn't have the energy to go out.

Tristan made a phone call, and soon three chefs arrived with ingredients to cook.

Tristan took some pastries out of an elegant box. "You used to love these. Have some to tide you over."

"Okay."

Harriet curled up on the sofa, eating while working on her iPad.

Tristan sat beside her. "Are you busy?"

"Yes, I have a lot of reports to review for MediQuest Group."

Tristan looked at her. "Harriet, you've changed a lot."

The previous Harriet had been a gentle, obedient, and innocent girl.

Now, she was more like a rose blooming magnificently in a storm.

Not only had her features gained a mature composure, but her core had become strong too—she'd actually founded a company and was running it successfully.

Harriet smiled slightly. "People always change."

Tristan wanted to say he actually preferred the old Harriet.

Especially during those two years of marriage, when Harriet's heart and eyes were full of him, staying home every day waiting for him to come back from work. Her world seemed to contain only him.

Now, she was brilliant and radiant, attracting other men's attention.

Zephyr was the first, but definitely not the last.

Tristan didn't like other men eyeing her.

Before Harriet finished reviewing the reports, dinner was ready.

She put away her iPad and went to eat first.

Dinner was lavish, all dishes Harriet loved.

Tristan served her food. "Harriet, what have you been doing these past two years?"

"Studying abroad, working, starting a company." Harriet smiled. "I've been to many places, even war-torn countries."

"The people there suffered terribly from the war. They had no money and no proper medical facilities. At my busiest, I went two full days and nights without sleep."

"It's my fault. I shouldn't have let you leave."

Harriet shook her head. "These two years have been fulfilling, and it was precisely that intense treatment schedule that helped my medical skills improve greatly. I don't regret leaving Emberfall."

Her only regret was not clearing up the misunderstanding with him sooner.

Tristan felt quite uncomfortable.

So without him, her life had been this exciting.

"When did you learn to ride a motorcycle?"

"When I first went abroad, I was in a bad mood for a long time. I needed an outlet, so I learned."

That kind of extreme thrill really could make her feel better and temporarily forget her troubles.

Tristan gazed at her deeply. "Harriet, you're amazing."

"You're amazing too." Harriet smiled. "I heard Apex Global Group's position in Athenia is now unmatched. In two years, you've created another business legend."

"From now on, I'll spend more time at home, keeping you company."

Harriet responded softly, "Okay."

After dinner, Tristan brought over some fruit and a pill. "Take this."

Harriet recognized it immediately—it was a morning-after pill.
