Chapter 201 I Only Love You
Tristan froze.
The blood in his body seemed to surge, and a tingling sensation spread from his lips, sweeping through his entire body in an instant.
He could feel his racing heartbeat and the joy and excitement bursting from deep within.
But soon, he calmly pushed Harriet away."Harriet, don't do this..."
"Why?" Harriet asked. "Are you afraid of getting me involved? You hate Griffin so much. Why would you believe what he says?"
Tristan was stunned. "How did you know..."
"Finnegan called me and told me everything. For the things he didn't know, I also called Ryder to find out." Harriet cupped his face with her hands. "Aren't you an atheist? How could you be foolish enough to pray to God?"
"It turns out praying to God works."
"But you can't use another woman to deceive me."
Tristan suddenly realized, "Harriet, are you jealous?"
Harriet didn't confirm or deny it. "Then tell me, who is that woman? Why was she showering at Cloud Bay?"
"She's my employee. That day she accidentally got her clothes dirty, so she took a shower at my place. You happened to come by, and I wanted to cut ties with you, so I used her as an excuse."
Harriet actually couldn't accept this explanation.
An ordinary employee taking a shower at his home?
Tristan cupped her face. "I'm sorry, but Griffin was right about one thing - if it weren't for me, you could have lived a peaceful life. You wouldn't have encountered so many ruthless people or gone through so many hardships."
"Why do you believe what he says?" Harriet's eyes reddened. "You read the diary - why didn't you confront me about it?"
"I was afraid." Tristan's lips twitched. "I was afraid that once I brought it up, you'd have a reason, a legitimate excuse to go back to Griffin."
Harriet's heart filled with a dense, spreading pain. "You fool."
She held back her tears and said, "If you had questioned me, you would have known that what was in the diary was fake. I never liked Griffin."
Tristan was completely stunned. "Really?"
"I have no reason to lie to you." Harriet's tears fell. "I've only ever loved you. You were all my firsts."
First time her heart raced.
First kiss.
First time making love.
All the firsts were with him.
"Harriet, you can't deceive me."Tristan heard his own trembling voice.
"I'm not lying to you." Harriet spoke word by word. "I never liked Griffin. You were never his substitute."
"Tristan, I love you. Only you."
Tristan could no longer control himself and lowered his head to kiss her fiercely.
All the complex emotions tangled inside him were crushed into this kiss.
Harriet closed her eyes, tears sliding down her face and into their intertwined lips.
After a long while, Harriet finally pushed him away. "I can barely breathe."
Tristan laughed softly. "Let's go home."
"Cloud Bay?" Harriet pouted. "I'm not going! Who knows how many people you're hiding there - what if another woman opens the door for me?"
Tristan couldn't help pinching her cheek. "Mrs. Lancaster, you look so cute when you're jealous."
Harriet turned her head away proudly. "If you laugh at me again, I'm getting out of the car!"
"Okay, I won't laugh." Tristan looked at her deeply. "Harriet, don't leave me again, okay?"
Harriet was stunned.
She turned to look at him, meeting his deep gaze, and understood the humility he was trying to restrain.
Like a gentle breeze brushing across her heart, creating ripples.
"Okay!"Harriet agreed, then stood on her tiptoes to kiss him again.
Tristan raised his hand to the back of her head, turning passive into active, deepening the kiss.
Inside the RV, the temperature became scorching again.
When the kiss ended, Tristan reluctantly left her lips."Let's go home, okay?"
Harriet's face flushed. "I want to go to the skyscraper."
"Okay!"
Half an hour later, they arrived at Apex Global Group.
As soon as they entered the office, Tristan couldn't wait to kiss her.
Tristan didn't even have time to go to the lounge. He lifted Harriet directly onto the desk, and just when he was about to make love to her, he realized there were no condoms here.
Tristan calmly stopped all movement. "I'll go buy some!"
But Harriet raised her feet, wrapping her legs around his lean waist, not letting him leave.
"Harriet!"Before Tristan could stop her, she had already helped him herself.
Tristan's breath caught. "You're crazy!"
Harriet kissed his thin lips and said softly, "Safe period."
Tristan could no longer control himself. Gripping her waist, he took her forcefully.
The room had no lights on, and moonlight illuminated the blush-inducing scene inside.
That night, Harriet stayed at Apex Global Group.
Perhaps influenced by Opal, she actually dreamed of Lark that night.
In the dream, Lark forced her to give blood.
Several doctors held her down, constantly drawing her blood until she passed out from blood loss and they threw her off the rooftop.
Harriet suddenly opened her eyes, waking from the nightmare.
The sky outside the floor-to-ceiling windows was turning white. Tristan lay beside her, sleeping soundly.
Harriet calmed herself and closed her eyes, trying to fall back asleep, but suddenly couldn't.
After lying there for a while, she simply got up.
Harriet went to the bathroom to shower, changed clothes, and walked out of the lounge.
She sat at Tristan's desk, feeling the first rays of morning sunlight.
Soon it was time for work.
Harriet's stomach was a bit hungry. Just as she was about to call for breakfast, the office door suddenly opened.
Harriet turned her head and saw a face that wasn't unfamiliar.
It was the woman who had been wrapped in a towel at Cloud Bay that day.
Now she wore a beige off-shoulder blazer with matching trousers and high heels.
She had excellent taste, exquisite makeup, capable yet sexy - the kind of look that even women couldn't help but admire.
Quinlan saw Harriet and was clearly stunned.
She quickly hid the surprise in her eyes, put on a flawless smile, and walked forward. "Tristan isn't here yet? I came to bring him breakfast."
Harriet looked at the beautiful and radiant Quinlan before her, and the thermos in her hand, and smiled slightly. "He's not up yet. You can leave it here, and I'll remind him to eat when he wakes up."
Quinlan put down the thermos. "That works. I prepared all of Tristan's favorite foods."
Harriet leaned back in her chair, her smile unchanged. "Thank you for taking care of my husband."
"It's my job." Quinlan smiled. "But why is Ms. Getty here?"
"I think I need to remind you - please call me Mrs. Lancaster from now on."Harriet said, "By the way, I don't know your name yet."
"Quinlan Stewart, Vice President of Apex Global Group, Tristan's capable subordinate."
Harriet smiled. "I can tell Ms. Stewart is a very confident and capable person. No wonder Tristan values you so much."
"Thank you for the compliment." Quinlan replied neither humbly nor arrogantly. "I'll go get busy now."
"Please do."
Quinlan left in her high heels.
Harriet looked at the thermos on the desk, her smile unchanged. "Interesting."
When Tristan woke up, he didn't see Harriet in bed.
His heart panicked. He immediately got up, not even bothering to get dressed, walking out in just his pajama pants.
Harriet, who was eating breakfast at the desk, glanced at him and expressionlessly looked away.
Tristan breathed a sigh of relief and walked over. "Why didn't you wake me when you got up?"
"I wanted to let you sleep more."
"I'll brush my teeth and come eat breakfast with you."
Five minutes later, Tristan returned and sat down across from Harriet. "You didn't order breakfast for me?"
Harriet pointed to the thermos nearby. "Your female subordinate brought you a loving breakfast."
Tristan frowned slightly. "Quinlan brought it?"
Harriet raised an eyebrow. "You call her so intimately - looks like you two have a good relationship."
Tristan smiled and pinched her cheek. "Harriet, be jealous more often. I love seeing it."
Harriet was stunned.
"Who said I'm jealous?" Harriet pushed the thermos toward him. "Hurry up and eat your loving breakfast."
But Tristan pushed the thermos aside and directly took the plate in front of her. "I'll just eat your leftovers."
Harriet protested, "I'm not full yet!"
"I know. I'll feed you in a bit."
