Chapter 238 Do the Two Children Look Alike?

Chapter 238 Do the Two Children Look Alike?

Scarlett sensed something was off with Hayden. She patted his back soothingly and glared at Ambrose. "You've scared the kid. Can you stop frightening him?"

Ambrose could give anyone the cold shoulder, but when it came to Scarlett, he didn't dare talk back.

Just then, Yara, still in his arms, said in a sweet childlike voice, "Ambrose, I was the one who almost fell. Hayden pulled me back, so I didn't fall, but then he fell in instead."

After hearing this, Ambrose said, "Boys should protect girls."

Hayden, nestled in Scarlett's arms, immediately felt wronged.

"Scarlett, I'm definitely not his real son. I'm not staying with him anymore. I want to live with you!"

Scarlett shot Ambrose another fierce look, then carried Hayden off to change into clean clothes.

Wherever Scarlett went, she always packed an extra set of clothes for the kids, just in case.

After Hayden changed into clean clothes, he sat obediently in a chair with Yara, both of them eating cookies.

Because Scarlett had held Hayden, her clothes got wet too. The silk fabric was very thin, and once it clung to her skin, her figure became quite obvious.

When Ambrose came back after handling things, he caught sight of this scene and frowned.

"Your clothes are wet."

He walked over to Scarlett's side, his eyes falling on her barely concealed curves, his gaze growing darker.

With so many people around, she definitely couldn't go out like this. Seeing someone glance her way, he pulled out a large towel from the bag she'd brought and held it against her chest.

"Use this to cover up for now."

Scarlett had already tried that the towel was too small to help much, but Ambrose's point was that something was better than nothing.

"Ambrose, it really is you!" An unexpected voice came from behind them.

Ambrose turned to look and saw it was Bodhi Boleyn. He was Gage's son, ranked fifth in the Boleyn family.

"What do you want?" Ambrose's tone was flat, his eyes still on Scarlett, noticing the towel wasn't covering much.

Bodhi, exuding an air of a pampered playboy, swayed his body as he approached, saying, "You usually don't like such lively occasions either. It's really rare for you to be here."

As he spoke, his eyes drifted toward Scarlett. Ambrose turned to block his view.

"What is it?"

Seeing this, Bodhi smiled knowingly, withdrew his gaze, and turned to look at Hayden sitting in the chair.

"I came to see Hayden."

Actually, he just came to see what kind of woman could make Ambrose bow and scrape.

But she was well protected that he wasn't even allowed a proper look. Whatever, there would be other chances.

With that, Bodhi walked toward Hayden. "Hayden."

Hayden had already spotted Bodhi, but he wasn't very interested in him and responded without much emotion.

"Uncle Bodhi."

Bodhi walked up to Hayden and teased him, "Did you fall in the water just now?"

Bodhi always liked to mess with Hayden, so as soon as he said this, Hayden went on guard. He stared at him. "No, I didn't."

Bodhi reached out and ruffled his hair. "Your hair's still wet. Kids who lie get eaten by the big bad wolf."

Hayden swatted his hand away. "Uncle Bodhi, you're so annoying!"

"Don't tell me I'm interrupting your little romance with this girl, and that's why you find me annoying!" As Bodhi spoke, his eyes shifted to Yara beside them.

He hadn't really looked before, but now he was stunned.

This little girl looked quite similar to Hayden. His loose tongue got the better of him again.

"You two look so alike, you'd make a great married couple!"

Hearing this, Hayden's face turned red with anger. "Don't think everyone's like you, dating girls left and right. Yara and I are just good friends."

Yara frowned. Did she really look like Hayden?

Why did everyone keep saying that?

"Bodhi, what nonsense are you spouting in front of the kids?" Ambrose's low, angry voice came from behind.

Bodhi quickly turned to Ambrose, backing away while explaining, "Ambrose, just joking around."

"The two kids look so much alike. If they're not siblings, then they must look like a married couple!"

As Bodhi spoke, he stayed alert in case Ambrose rushed over to get physical. His feet moved fast, and he ran off.

Hayden was furious and wanted to chase after him, but seeing the man had run far away, he shouted angrily from behind.

"Uncle Bodhi, I'm telling Great-grandpa on you. Just wait to get in trouble!"

Scarlett, sitting there, looked thoughtful. Bodhi's words kept echoing in her mind, and she remembered that not only had Bodhi said the two kids looked alike, but Finnian had said so too.

Did the two kids really look alike?

Her gaze fell on both children's faces. Since she saw them every day, she really couldn't see the resemblance.

Ambrose turned around and saw Scarlett's questioning gaze shifting between the two children. His heart skipped a beat, and he quickly walked over.

"Your clothes are wet. Let's go back!"

Scarlett snapped out of it and gathered her thoughts.

Someone came over specifically to invite Ambrose to join a gathering. Ambrose still had a banquet tonight, so he declined and took Scarlett and the two kids back.

On the way back, Scarlett didn't say much, but her mind was still on what had just happened.

"That guy earlier was Gage's son?" She asked.

Ambrose made a sound of agreement. "What does he do now?" Scarlett asked again.

"Are you asking about other men right in front of me?" Ambrose's tone was full of jealousy.

Scarlett felt helpless. "Your situation in the Boleyn family isn't great. I'm just asking about the situation. Are you jealous about this too?"

"Worried about me?" After hearing this, the corners of his lips curved up slightly, and his expression immediately brightened.

Scarlett didn't want to deal with him. Just then, her phone rang. She pulled it out of her bag and saw it was Vaughn calling, which made her happy.

She'd called yesterday, and Vaughn hadn't called back. Although she'd later called Orion's wife and learned that Vaughn was on a business trip, she still hoped to hear back from him.

"Vaughn," she answered.

"Scarlett, I was out on assignment and just got my phone back." Vaughn's voice was steady, without much emotion.

"I'm glad you're okay. I called because I was worried about Mr. Orion Philip," she said.

"My dad's fine, don't worry. It's just routine questioning." Vaughn's tone was very calm, not like something was wrong.

"How long until he can come out?"

"Hard to say, but anyway, you don't need to worry."
