Chapter 221 To Kill Her

Chapter 221 To Kill Her

Scarlett screamed in terror.

A violent crash, and as the car shook, her vehicle was forced onto the shoulder and finally came to a stop.

Everything seemed to freeze. Scarlett was slumped over the steering wheel, wrapped in the airbag.

After some time, she was woken by the pain in her forehead. Opening her eyes, she saw the streetlights by the road. A car was blocking the front of hers, and the vehicle ahead was completely mangled.

She cried out in pain and tried to raise her hand to touch her forehead, only to find herself trapped by the airbag.

"Scarlett, what's wrong? What happened?" Briar shouted from the other end of the phone.

"Car accident," she replied, still shaken, looking around. She noticed a black SUV pressed against the side of her car.

From the position of the vehicle, it must have rushed up from behind her car. It looked like it had blocked the oncoming car for her.

"Car accident? How did that happen? Is it serious? Are you hurt? Where are you?" Briar fired off three anxious questions.

She snapped back to reality and responded, "I'm trapped by the airbag and can't move. Apart from some pain in my forehead, I don't feel anything wrong anywhere else."

The airbag was making it hard to speak, so her words came out a bit choppy.

"Where are you?" Briar asked.

Scarlett looked up. The black car in front blocked her view, so she turned to look through the side window. "This is Elm Street."

"I'm coming right now," Briar said, and the sound of movement came through the phone.

As they talked, the airbag gradually deflated a bit. Scarlett felt she could move, so she tried to shift her body, attempting to get out of the driver's seat. As she moved, she clearly felt that there was no pain anywhere on her body.

She probably wasn't injured.

"How badly are you hurt?" Briar hadn't hung up and asked while walking.

"I don't think I'm hurt. Briar, I'll talk later. The airbag's loosened up, I'm getting out of the car."

"Okay, I'm on my way."

After hanging up, Scarlett began to struggle. A minute later, she finally managed to move. Just then, someone knocked on the car window. She was about to open the door when she suddenly remembered the car that had charged straight at her—someone was trying to kill her.

She froze. Seeing this, the person outside knocked even harder. Finally, seeing she wouldn't move, they went to the black car instead.

She couldn't wait any longer and grabbed her phone to make a call.

"Vaughn, I'm on Elm Street. I've been hit by a car."

"Are you hurt?" Vaughn's voice was heavy but clearly worried.

"I'm fine, but the car that came at me was clearly trying to kill me. A car from behind rushed up and blocked it, so I escaped. Now people are coming up to me, but I don't dare get out. I don't know if they're friend or foe."

"How many people?"

She looked. "Three or four."

"If your car isn't damaged, stay inside. I'm coming now. Don't come out yet," Vaughn instructed.

Scarlett did as Vaughn said and stayed in the car. Then she saw the license plate of the car in front—it was the bodyguard's car that Ambrose had sent to protect her.

She was a bit confused, but a thought quickly jumped into her mind. Could it be that the bodyguard had rushed forward to block that car to protect her?

Thinking this, she picked up her phone and immediately called Ambrose.

"Ambrose, did you send a bodyguard to follow me?" she asked as soon as he answered.

"Things haven't been safe lately. I can only relax knowing a bodyguard is with you."

"There's been an accident," she murmured.

Scarlett told him everything. While waiting for him to arrive, she saw that those people were trying to rescue the bodyguard Gray Scott from the car. She threw caution to the wind and opened her door.

As soon as she got out, Scarlett's legs felt weak and numb. She steadied herself against the car door, barely managing to stand straight. Without saying anything, she went to the trunk, pulled out an iron rod, and walked to Gray's car.

"Use the iron rod to smash it."

With that, she handed over the rod. The man who wanted to help took it and smashed it hard against the car several times until the glass shattered.

After breaking the glass, they were able to open the door.

Once the door was open, Gray, inside, was bleeding continuously from his head. Scarlett had seen this kind of scene before and remained relatively calm. She leaned in, trying to pull the person trapped in the airbag out.

But Gray was stuck and couldn't move at all.

With the help of others who came forward, after much effort, they finally pulled Gray out of the car. After getting him out, the others went to rescue people from another car. Scarlett couldn't help with that—she had to save Gray first, the man who had saved her life.

Gray, lying on the ground, kept bleeding. She ran back to her car and grabbed the first aid kit she kept there.

Inside were tools to stop bleeding. She took out gauze and tried to stop Gray's bleeding. Although she wasn't a doctor, she had bandaged her children before, so she used the same method.

Ambrose's people arrived quickly and took over Gray's care.

"Ms. Mellon, we'll take him to the hospital."

Scarlett nodded and urged, "Make sure you save him."

Vaughn arrived soon after and questioned Scarlett. Even though he could see she wasn't seriously hurt, he was still worried.

"Scarlett, you should go to the hospital with them for a checkup. I'll watch things here. We can't let the driver who caused this get away."

Scarlett understood that to find out who was behind this, the driver had to stay alive.

"Vaughn, I'm fine. I'll stay at the scene."

Vaughn could only respect Scarlett's decision.
