Chapter 220 Father and Son of the United Front
Just then, Scarlett's phone buzzed with a message. She took it out of her bag and glanced at it—it was from Caspian, saying he had something to take care of and had left early.
She replied: [Okay.]
Then she took Hayden's hand and walked forward.
"Scarlett, are you still mad?" Hayden asked nervously.
Scarlett looked down at him, "What do you think?"
He scratched his head. He figured she probably wasn't mad anymore, otherwise she would have definitely sent him to Ambrose.
"Scarlett, where are you taking me now?" He asked.
"Home," she answered.
When Hayden heard "home," he thought she was taking him back to Lakeside Garden and felt happy. But he didn't expect that as soon as Scarlett left the restaurant, she handed him over to the bodyguard.
Hayden guessed that Scarlett was still mad, so he didn't dare insist on going back to Lakeside Garden with her. He could only watch her leave with longing eyes.
As he watched, tears started gathering in his eyes, "Are you still mad?"
Scarlett, who was about to leave, stopped and turned to see Hayden's expression. She said, "I'm not mad anymore, but you have to go home and stay there tonight."
She reached out and touched his face, "Big boys, don't cry! I'll bring you back to Lakeside Garden next time."
Hayden sniffled and forced the tears back, "You have to remember."
"Okay." Scarlett smiled.
After Scarlett left, he slumped in the car, sighing heavily.
After finishing dinner, Ambrose came downstairs and got into the car. Noticing Hayden's mood, and seeing that Scarlett had left without saying goodbye, he guessed Hayden had gotten into trouble.
So he asked what happened.
Hayden lazily lifted his eyes and glanced at Ambrose.
"Dad, I think I did something wrong," he said listlessly.
Ambrose had already guessed that being around Scarlett, he would definitely make her mad—he just didn't expect it to happen so soon.
"Tell me about it," he said.
Hayden then told Ambrose what he had said to Caspian. After hearing it, Ambrose couldn't help but twitch at the corners of his mouth.
So Hayden had spread the word about their intimate moments.
Scarlett was afraid of losing face, so how could she not be mad?
Looking at Hayden, he felt somewhat pleased, "Although you really shouldn't have told anyone about that, I think you did well. You deserve praise this time."
Hayden was stunned. Ambrose was actually praising him—this was the first time he hadn't blamed him.
"Dad, don't worry. If any other guy tries to hit on Scarlett in the future, I'll definitely tell him that Scarlett likes you."
Looking at Hayden, who was now on the same side as him, Ambrose felt for the first time that having a son wasn't completely useless—the usefulness was showing now.
Scarlett drove toward Lakeside Garden. On the way, she got a call from her good friend Briar, so she chatted with her while driving.
"By the way, I want to ask you something. Caspian came back recently—have you heard anything about him before?"
Briar used to be a young lady from the Reed family and was familiar with the wealthy families in Silverlight City.
"Caspian? I really hadn't heard of him before. He just suddenly appeared. As soon as he showed up, he got the Anderson Group running smoothly—very capable."
Briar shared some information about Caspian.
"I took him to dinner tonight. What do you think?"
So Scarlett told her about Caspian's connection to the Mitchell family. Briar was shocked—she really didn't know about this.
"Looks like another wealthy family secret," Briar sighed.
"If his mom is from the Mitchell family, why didn't he even have money to eat in Maplewood?" Briar questioned.
Scarlett had thought about this too, but she hadn't asked and didn't want to ask. At the end of the day, it didn't have much to do with her.
"Other people's business—can't really say much about it."
"Forget it. Whatever's going on between him and the Mitchell family, you won't get anything good out of it. I think you should keep your distance from him from now on. Anyone connected to the Mitchell family is dangerous."
Whether Caspian was dangerous or not, Scarlett didn't know, but she would definitely keep her distance from him.
Although she had saved him before, his mother being from the Mitchell family meant she had to be careful.
While chatting with Briar, Scarlett kept her eyes on the road ahead. The route back to Lakeside Garden went through busy areas, but tonight there were fewer cars and the road was clear, so she gradually picked up speed.
"But Octavia must be furious—her own son doesn't want her and chose to go with you instead. Does someone like that count as getting what she deserves?" Briar laughed heartily on the other end.
Scarlett thought for a moment but didn't mention that Octavia wasn't Hayden's mother. The fewer people who knew about this right now, the better. Although Briar wouldn't tell anyone, if she accidentally let it slip while drunk, that would be trouble.
"Whether she has love and patience for the child, the child can feel it," she said.
"That's true. Someone who looks at her own son with such harsh eyes—how could she have any love?" Briar muttered.
Suddenly, a beam of light shot straight at her. Scarlett squinted—who drived so rudely, turning on those lights?
She flashed her lights to signal the other driver, but unexpectedly, there was no response. In fact, the speed was getting faster and faster. She quickly slowed down because it was too blinding to see ahead clearly.
Suddenly, she saw the car accelerate toward her, going faster and faster. Her heart jumped, and she quickly hit the brakes, but it was too late—the car was coming right at her.
