Chapter 185 Want to Make Her a Mistress?
Outside the banquet hall, Scarlett was stopped by Ulysses. Hearing what he said, she smiled faintly, "Mr. Mitchell, can you show me the evidence?"
Ulysses reached out to put his hand on her shoulder, but Scarlett dodged it. Ulysses wasn't happy about that.
"You won't even let me touch you. How can I believe you're not playing me?"
Scarlett could see that Ulysses was testing her. If she didn't go along with him, she wouldn't get to see the so-called evidence. But if she did go along, she couldn't stand the disgusting feeling.
"Mr. Mitchell, people are coming and going here. It doesn't look good."
Ulysses didn't push it, but said directly that he wanted her to come to his room later to see the evidence.
An obvious trap.
Scarlett smiled faintly. She couldn't refuse, and at this point, she might as well find out if his evidence was real or fake. She simply agreed.
"Alright, I'll come take a look after the banquet ends."
Behind his glasses, Ulysses's eyes showed strong anticipation. Scarlett saw it but pretended not to, then turned and went back to the banquet.
Just as she stepped into the banquet hall, Ambrose came up to her halfway, looking at her with slightly narrowed eyes.
"What did Ulysses want with you?"
Scarlett said casually that it was nothing. With so many guests around, he had limited time to stay. Hearing her say it was nothing, he just told her to keep some distance from Ulysses, then went off to mingle.
Scarlett sat down at her seat with no expression on her face, but for some reason, Ulysses also sat at that table, even sitting right next to Scarlett.
During the meal, Ulysses kept putting food in her bowl. Someone at the same table teased, "Mr. Mitchell, you're so thoughtful."
Ulysses was happy with the flattery, and when he turned to look at Scarlett, his eyes held some suggestiveness. Scarlett wanted to refuse, but didn't know how.
Just as Ulysses was about to make more suggestive moves, someone came over, "Mr. Mitchell, what are you doing sitting here?"
The implication was that this place wasn't worthy of Ulysses's status, and they wanted to invite him to the main table. The main table was where Ambrose and his group sat. Although Ulysses wanted to sit there, without an invitation, he wouldn't embarrass himself.
When that person couldn't persuade him, Ryder appeared shortly after and politely invited Ulysses to the main table.
"Mr. Mitchell, I didn't do my job well. Please move to the main table."
Ulysses glanced at Ryder and finally agreed reluctantly.
Before leaving, he said something very suggestive to Scarlett that made people think all sorts of things.
"Eat more, build up your energy."
Scarlett felt awkward all over and ignored him. After Ulysses left, some nosy person at the table leaned over to ask.
"Ms. Mellon, is Mr. Mitchell pursuing you?"
Scarlett forced a stiff smile, "No."
"Ms. Mellon, we all saw it! Mr. Mitchell clearly has feelings for you just now. Don't be shy!" Someone teased.
Scarlett wanted to explain, but Ulysses's behavior just now really did make people think things. Explaining would just seem like covering up, so she simply didn't explain and let them guess.
After Ulysses was invited to the main table, he was in a good mood. He accepted everyone who came to toast him at the table. Ambrose sat beside him with no expression but didn't say anything.
Scarlett threw away all the food Ulysses had put in her bowl. She didn't eat much and got up from the table.
After leaving the table, she went to the restroom. Coming out of the restroom, she ran into Chase. Chase looked at her and said, "Ms. Mellon, are you done eating?"
Scarlett glanced at Chase and nodded. "Then let me take you back," Chase said.
"No need, I didn't drink, I can drive myself back." Scarlett's refusal was clear, but Chase didn't leave. Instead, he continued.
"Mr. Boleyn asked me to take you."
Scarlett understood immediately. Ambrose was having someone watch her go back, so he knew she was going to see Ulysses.
What did Ambrose mean by this? Was he really thinking of keeping her as a mistress, as she thought?
How interesting.
Her expression turned cold, her tone firm, "Go back and tell him that when I go back and how I go back, I still have the freedom to decide that for myself."
Chase awkwardly touched his nose. As an outsider, he really couldn't get involved in this couple's business, so he just said.
"Alright, I'll tell him. But Ms. Mellon, be careful. Ulysses isn't someone you should get close to. He's not an ordinary person."
Scarlett's lips curved up, "Thanks for the reminder. I know."
With that, she lifted her legs and left.
Ulysses's behavior in the banquet hall earlier had caught Ambrose's attention, so he started interfering. But wasn't he being ridiculous? She had never interfered with his business with Octavia, but now he was starting to interfere with hers.
Just possessiveness at work!
She laughed coldly.
Scarlett returned to the banquet hall. Most people were still eating. A bunch of people were still making Ulysses drink. It would be good if he got drunk - maybe she could find evidence on him.
Scarlett waited for the banquet to end, already planning in her mind how to act.
Ulysses could hold his liquor pretty well. He still wasn't drunk after drinking so much. Although he walked a bit unsteadily, he had bodyguards who came forward to support him as he left.
Ulysses left, and Scarlett also got up to leave. Following the room number Ulysses gave her, she came to that floor.
Ulysses had guessed he would drink too much, so he had opened a room at the Four Seasons Hotel. Scarlett rang the doorbell at the room door.
The door opened, and it wasn't Ulysses who appeared, but one of Ulysses's bodyguards. "Who are you looking for?"
"Mr. Mitchell asked me to come get something. Is he drunk?" Scarlett asked very calmly.
The man nodded, "Mr. Mitchell is drunk."
"Xander, bring her in." Suddenly, Ulysses's voice came over.
Although Ulysses had drunk a lot, he was still quite aware. Scarlett's heart tensed up a bit. If he were still conscious, she wouldn't be able to search him for evidence. And if he wanted to assault her while drunk, that would be even more troublesome.
"Come in!" The man called Xander stepped aside to make way.
At this point, Scarlett could only bite the bullet and go in.
She stepped into the room and saw Ulysses lying on the bed. Hearing her footsteps, he propped himself up. Without his glasses on, he squinted, not sure if he could see her, but smiled very happily.
"You're here, come over quickly." Ulysses got up to pull her, but Scarlett spun around to avoid him.
"Mr. Mitchell, you should at least let me see the thing!"
Ulysses staggered forward, trying to grab Scarlett. "Don't worry, I have the evidence. Let me kiss you first."
But Scarlett was nimble and just wouldn't let Ulysses catch her. In between, she still asked him to take out the thing.
Ulysses got impatient, "You're the only one who dares to tease me like this. Don't be ungrateful!"
Scarlett raised an eyebrow. So he had no evidence - this was just to lure her here!
She turned and walked toward the door. "Contact me again when you have the thing!"
"Block her for me," Ulysses barked.
Xander blocked the doorway, standing in front of the door. Scarlett paused, glanced at the person blocking the entrance, then turned to look at Ulysses.
"Mr. Mitchell, if you do this, don't blame me for not being polite in a moment."
As she finished speaking, Ulysses walked forward. Scarlett pulled out a stun gun from her bag and zapped Ulysses with it. On the spot, Ulysses fell to the ground.
