Chapter 174 A Life with Embraces from Both Sides
After Ambrose hung up the phone and returned to the hospital room, Scarlett asked if Wesley's case had really been decided.
Hearing this, Ambrose narrowed his eyes, "The guilt is clear, but he hasn't been sentenced yet."
Scarlett lowered her eyes, and after a while said, "Did they say when the sentencing would be?"
"Probably not that soon. This thing, going through the process will take at least half a year," Ambrose said.
Scarlett fell silent. Ambrose asked, "Why are you suddenly asking about this?"
"The Ross family keeps pestering us relentlessly. Wesley's in jail now, and Zane's case probably won't result in any serious charges. Once he gets out of detention, he'll probably be even crazier. Plus, there's Opal. I don't want a ticking time bomb around me."
Ambrose narrowed his eyes, "I didn't handle this well. I'll have people get the Ross family parents out of Silverlight City, won't let them stay here anymore."
"But they'll come back. You can't guard against them all the time," Scarlett said.
"So you mean you want to let Wesley go?"
Scarlett shook her head, "I haven't figured it out yet. I need to think about what to do."
Ambrose lowered his eyes, thought for a moment, and said, "Since you don't want to see them again, I'll have people send the Ross family parents back to their hometown, spend some money to have people there watch them."
Scarlett glanced at him without speaking. Seeing her silence, Ambrose didn't say more, but said, "I have something to take care of. When the food arrives, eat first."
Scarlett looked up, "It's fine, go ahead with your business."
Ambrose lowered his head and kissed her forehead, "I'll be back soon."
Scarlett quietly let him kiss her. After he finished and left, in the quiet hospital room, Scarlett couldn't quite describe her feelings.
After this incident, the Ross family definitely wouldn't let it go. No matter how capable Ambrose was, he couldn't provide protection all the time. But how did Zane get into her place when he showed up at her door?
Thinking about this, she called Finnian.
Less than twenty minutes later, Ambrose arrived at the place where he and his friends usually met. As soon as he entered the room, Ruben was already there with a bottle of wine in front of him. Seeing Ambrose, he raised his hand in greeting.
"Ambrose."
Ambrose walked over and sat down. "You didn't call Felix?"
"He's on his way," Ruben said while pouring wine.
Ambrose leaned forward to pick up a glass and quietly took a sip. "What's Ulysses up to?"
"We've already got some evidence of his illegal fundraising. Aiden was pulled in by him for cooperation. Once when drunk, Aiden spilled some inside information. This information is enough to convict him, but we need to get the evidence. For that, we need a computer expert to attack their network. I'm planning to get Finnian. You won't have a problem with that, right?" Ruben asked first.
Ambrose finished his sip of wine and looked at Ruben with heavy eyes. Ruben said with a bitter face.
"Ambrose, I really can't find anyone else suitable. Finnian is the best choice, and he's currently working with our internal team. This can count as assisting with the case, so he won't be suspicious."
"You trust him that much? Not worried he'll pull something?" Ambrose questioned.
"We checked him out. His background is pretty clean."
Ambrose said, "If you guys think he's usable, then use him!"
As they were talking, Felix pushed the door open, looking like someone owed him money. "Next time you guys meet, can you not pick a mealtime?"
"It's not like we're not feeding you," Ruben frowned. He was the one who suggested the meeting, wasn't Felix complaining about him?
"I was in the middle of a business dinner." Felix sat down, looking at him like he was an idiot.
Ruben fell silent.
After Felix raised his glass and took a sip, he looked at Ambrose, "I heard you're planning to make peace with the Mitchell family, preparing to work with Ulysses?"
Ambrose raised an eyebrow, half-smiling, "Any advice?"
"For that project, or for Octavia?" Felix asked.
Ambrose took a sip of wine, his throat tinged with coldness as the alcohol passed through, "What do you think?"
Felix smiled, "How would I know? After all, Octavia is your son's mother." Then he added another line.
"A life with two women must be pretty exciting."
Ambrose's lips curved, "You really think highly of me."
"Felix, Octavia isn't Hayden's mother. Don't believe those rumors," Ruben quickly explained from the side.
Felix frowned, "What?"
Just then, Ambrose's phone rang. He pulled it out and saw it was Octavia calling. After hesitating for a few seconds, he answered.
"Ambrose, Hayden suddenly got sick. Come quickly."
When Ambrose arrived at the hospital, Hayden had already seen the doctor and was sitting on a chair in the hallway, waiting for him. Ambrose stood to the side, looking at Hayden's flushed face with a very unhappy expression.
"How did it get like this?" Ambrose looked at Hayden sitting in the chair.
Hayden's face had broken out in small red spots - an allergic reaction.
In the afternoon, Octavia had left, but she called repeatedly, asking for a chance to look after Hayden. Since Hayden had agreed to have contact with Octavia, Ambrose had someone take him to the Mitchell family for dinner.
Just one meal, and how did his face end up like this?
Seeing Ambrose, Octavia stood up, looking apologetic, "The doctor said he had an allergic reaction to something he ate. My mom saw him come over tonight and made high-protein foods. I don't know what he's allergic to. Does he have any foods he can't eat?"
